Relatively experienced pathfinder GM, but I want to expand my experience to another system. Recently I've been watching shows like Konosuba and sword art online, and I love the idea of playing a game where the players are from the "Real" world, and are thrust into a fantasy world. Is there a system that lets players grow in ways that really don't have a class? In Konosuba, the MC is able to learn a lot of different skills from the different classes of the word by spending points earned from completed missions. What are your suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Is there a step above a board wipe, like pic related?

People were talking about how in colorless decks manarocks only need to produce colorless, so they ramp fast.
Which rocks would you use besides mind stone, hedron archive, dreamstone hedron, grim monolith, sol ring, mana crypt, thran dynamo and gilded lotus(?) Though?

You're the cancer of these threads. You probably drive at least half of the retarded arguments that happen here.
>>51618739
..he said, trying to spark a retarded argument.
How do you guys feel about Gathering Storm in general? For me, what grabbed me about the setting was the sense of ancient stagnation and slow decay. It's the first thing there with
> It is the 41st Millennium. For more than a hundred centuries the Emperor of Mankind has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth
I found the idea of a huge, 10,000 year old, slowly crumbling empire representing the future of mankind to be really compelling, and I'm not even someone who's had the hobby for a long time. Now I suspect that something big is going to happen to change that. For instance, at least one primarch actually being playable, instead of a lost figure of legend. Some people are saying that the setting was stale, but I think being "stale" is what makes 40k 40k.
Thoughts?
I gotta say, I'm not excited. I agree that the stagnant setting worked really well and pretty much /was/ 40k, but my biggest concern is that as the rules change, the armies and the models change as well. and while that's not inherently a bad thing and sometimes a universe update is good, I'm worried that if everything updates then things that some players really liked (*cough* the Guard *cough*) will be pushed aside or removed entirely
>>51617657
I think the idea, of advancing certain events without ending the story, is a nice idea. I think developing plotlines within the setting would be nice, but never in such a way to end the setting.
Overall the idea behind Gathering Storm I like. The idea. Execution is where I fear there will be difficulties.
Speaking on FoC, the only one we know for sure so far, I didn't mind the idea behind it (for Chaos to at last be taken seriously as a threat it has to be able to destroy Cadia). The execution was a bit shoddy to me, characterisation of Abaddon, the nature of the end, the sheer speed of it all and more. The Execution of the idea I felt was shoddy but the idea I though was not bad.
FoB, I can say less about as I have not read it yet, but my overall impression of it is already more negative. Fall of Cadia seemed to balance loss for the Imperium with not to radical changes in the setting, FoB seems to me to change the Eldar to much and, to be honest, after Death Masque and other events the Eldar don't need to further play the role of a punching bag in the narrative.
RotP I think could be good, the concept works again, execution is a different matter. But I am one of those people who feels Primarchs have become a bit of an all consuming plot tumour on the setting who's importance, power and role gets overblown to the detriment of all other things in the setting so I'm wary of Roboute potentially having an effect where the Imperium simply 'gets better' because he's there, reversing thousands of years of developments, and making it look like in 10000 years not a single individual in the Imperium has been competent.
That and the fact that this again seems to be coming down to GW's favoured narrative formula; good guys losing then Marines show up and save the day, are my only fears concerning RotP.
Just my opinion of course, and an annotated form of it.
>>51617657
You said it yourself, you're new to the hobby so it's fresh and exciting. I've played for over 15 years and am happy to see the plot advance
Let's assume for a moment that Abaddon finally manages to win.
I will give you a few seconds to recover from your fit of laughter.
Now again, let us assume that Abaddon wins the Long War and takes his seat upon the Golden Throne on Terra.
What happens now? Does he exchange his terminator armor for a tailored business suit and start writing legislatures?
>>51617585
The chaos gods immediately make him a spawn.
He declares himself Emperor, and gives the finger to Chaos.
>>51617585
Why would he stop wearing power armor? The current govenment on terra wears power armor.

40k VENT THREAD
Hey /tg/ i need to vent a little so please indulge my ramblings or just ignore the thread.
I've been a 40k fan for a long, long time, and i've been in and out of the game a couple time in the years. Seventh edition dragged me back in, i bought some imperial guard ( astramilibullshit, this is the guard son. ) and some skitarii, i somehow found the will to paint them ( i don't really enjoy painting very much ) and found a group to play.
And everyone is a cheesemonster. You fix a day, you drive there, you set the tables pull your armies out, roll the dices spend a couple minutes to think how best to approach the table, finally you deploy your guys and... the cheesemonster win in 2 turns max. Every. Fucking. Time.
Why do people even bother? It's such a hassle to get everything ready and then it's over in 15 minutes. Do you have fun that way?
I tried different groups but i'm italian, italians have larceny and scumbaggery in their blood, if they can fuck you over they will so i couldn't find a good one.
I've completely lost the will to play the game and to paint my remaining minis....
what should i do /tg/, i really need some guidance here
>>51612855
Never bothered to play it in the first place.
I mean, lore and awesome minis are enough - there is a huge value just in collecting and painting the stuff.
>>51612877
that's not very encouraging...
>>51613860
Why should I encourage you to continue doing stuff you don't like?
Recently saw a game called Twilight Imperium 3rd edition in my local game store, looks interesting but damn is it expensive
Is the game any good? what kind of shit can you do in it? got any stories to tell? etc
>>51610807
Yes
But I have all the expansions that make it even better
If the players do not play for points the thing can drag a lot.
Assuming the players know the rules it takes about an hour per players.
>>51610964
so what races and factions can you play in it and whats the difference between them or are they all the same but with a another look?
>>51611054
Each race is different.
The units are all the same but some races have cheaper units, better units, have special rules like shooting before combat starts, use their troops as space ports, get cheaper technology, skip tech, steal tech, etc
The human special rule is basically breed Troops in your controlled planets. While the space nerd jellyfish get technology for free but are bad at war.
With the expansion each race get unique special technology, flagships, politicians.
Think of it as 4x game on a board.
Fun game but it is no way casual

Question about the Tileans Estalians and Border princes?.

I'm not really up to date on my Superman lore, but isn't one of the main points with him that he gets his power from our yellow sun.
Thus fighting them in solar system without yellow sun and far enough from one could be viable.

- Dire Troll Blitzer [16]

Krielstone Bearer & Stone Scribes (max) [9]
Trollkin Highwaymen (max) [15]
Trollkin Scouts [10]
Braylen Wanderheart, Trollkin Outlaw [5]
Stone Scribe Chronicler [4]
This is the list I'm going for to have my first 75pt game. Looking forward to trying this out, probably not going to be super competitive but I think I'll be able to win a few games and have some fun.

THREAD QUESTION:
>Does weather ever play a big role in games you've played? Did it turn out well?
It sometimes does. Mostly as encounter die fluff.
Looking for examples of town maps with OSR feel.
Not Village of Hommlet.
Guys, I'm looking for a good module to introduce modern players to OSR dungeon crawling.
I'm looking for something that features a hub town/village and a dungeon with multiple levels for the party to explore over the course of a few sessions. I don't mind gonzo stuff, but I want a more "traditional" experience.
So i'm sure this has already been discussed to death but I'm curious
What is /tg/'s opinion on Dawn of War 3?
It's been three games, I really wish they'd pull the finger out and get to at least Noon of War already.
