Excuse me, Brother-Captain, but how can just 1000 men, however skilled, make a substantial difference in a planetary campaign? Especially given that most chapters have multiple battle-barges and their forces are split between many planets. 200 space marines might win a battle, but an organized campaign by orkz or eldar or tyranids seems just too large for such a small force to meaningfully impact except with a commando mission.

I apologize beforehand for this thread, but what is wrong with these Anti-3.5/PF trolls?
They're like rabid dogs. You can't even mention the system without them flocking to it to try and shut down any discussion about it. Rather than discussing the actual game, all they want to do is drop their copypasta lists of exaggerated flaws they've gathered over the years, to pretend that the system has no merits and the only thing worth talking about are its problems.
It's not a healthy mindset, because it's clearly board politics at play, and that's something we should not be encouraging. I understand that 3.PF is an old system, but trying to scare everyone away from talking about it with rampant shitposting, no matter how much you personally think it's justified or how cleverly you think you are hiding your intentions, is neither fair to the people who want to discuss the game nor productive towards any end goal.
There's this idea that if people can scare people away from 3.PF that they will fall in love with other systems, and while it's nice to encourage people to try other games, it shouldn't be done at the expense of honest discussion and evaluation of a system. This demonizing of 3.PF for being popular or for having dedicated fans has become a rather unfunny joke, with some of these trolls willfully deluding themselves into believing that the only people who still play that system are all somehow mentally deranged.
It's a shame that these trolls have a toehold on /tg/, likely because we are one of the few sites that allow enough freedom for people to shitpost in the manner that they do, but it's really gotten out of hand, with people actually hesitating to discuss the game because they know they're going to be triggering a small group of very angry, very dedicated trolls that can't tolerate people enjoying a game they aren't fond of.

They are gods who's worshipped was earned when their followers liberated a country from despotic rule and over time all people in the country will be "uplifted" and made into Dragon-Blooded as the ultimate goal of dragon gods is to turn all people into dragons so they can claim rulership of everything.
However they are picky and can afford to take their time so only through religious observance and actions that benefit the Dragon Blooded earns one's family the right to become one.

Can slavery be done in such a way as to not be evil, by even the whitest of knights standards? I'm thinking along the lines of, "Which land would you rather live in? A land that when you can no longer financially provide for your family you are shit out of luck and wind up in debt to the government for the rest of your life. And possibly even have to watch the government evict your family from your own home, your spouse and children wind up homeless living on the streets, and you in prison for the rest of your life. What you're describing is debtor slavery and indentured servitude, which can give rise to any and all other forms.
Laws could be put in place that prevent families from selling their children into slavery to pay debts........... or maybe they won't be put in place.
And then again there's a reason they call them "wage slaves". Slaves can be fed and sheltered after all, and if we're going to go that route is it really freedom when you live in shelters on your job site and can only shop at the Company Store, because they only pay you in the Company's own money? Is it really not freedom? Either way why distinguish between a Company and a Nation.
People can be slaves, for a variety of reasons and to a variety of different degrees. What matters is if they are treated like slaves. Does society at large regard them as "different".
If they're calling them slaves, then the answer is likely yes. That is very, very hard to make squeaky clean, and very hard to keep from getting dirtier than it already is at whatever level it's already at.
You can have totally moral slavery easily, just don't treat them like slaves.
That's the kind of slavery we all practice every day.
Alternatively you could write up a fantasy species that has a relationship with other sentients not unlike the symbiotic relationships between other animals in nature, where different mutual beneficial roles are taken on, and allow nature and time to make slavery of it. It's not evil because both species are honestly better off with that arrangement, and trying to do it differently would literally hurt the slaves and could crash and burn their species' survivability over the long term.

Here's a quick recap:

I think that most modern players would stop playing at all instead of switching.

You're forgetting one thing about the Dreadclaw: it's a flier with hover. It doesn't need to be accurate when it can turbo boost into location and jink. It offers protection for a turn, you can assault out of it, and after it dumps it's load, it goes around harassing objectives and shitting fire on people.
