/tg/, I need help. What's a good system to run a Gundam game in? I would prefer a system that's easy/medium difficulty to get into, since I'll need to also guide a handful of players through it. We have experience with d20 and Dark Heresy style d100 systems, so the closer it is to something like that would be preferred. Haven't really been active in /tg/ for like 5 years; is Mekton Zeta still the best for this?
Bonus points if it has rules for psychics/Newtypes, since it will take place in the Universal Century.
Follow up. Has anyone ever attempted to make a Gundam war game using Gunpla?

Fate works surprisingly well.
WEG's D6 System also works very well. Stat MSs like they're hybrid starships/walkers and you're gold.
Battle Century G is /tg/'s go-to system, but how well that will work for you depends on if you like the idea of the PCs having one suit from the start that grows with them through the course of the game (like, well, how most Gundam shows work), or if you want VOTOMs style where a machine is a machine and PCs go through multiple MSs through the course of the game. BCG is amazing for the former, garbage for the latter.
Someone is going to say Strike, ignore them, they're mentally challenged.
Otherwise HERE'S A LIST OF PRACTICALLY EVERY GAME EVER, some good, many awful:

To elaborate (because I run a Gundam game in WEG d6), I use Mini Six as the basis (but if you want more substance you can easily use D6 Space or Star Wars d6), then use d6 Space Ships to come up with a basis for the MS stats, eyeballing as needed (a lot easier than it sounds). Then give the "ship" a ground speed.

It's super simple to play, pretty much no matter what you're doing you're rolling a bunch of d6s and comparing them to either a static TN or an opposed roll. Mini Six fits the entire combat system on like two pages.
>DMing a group with a few noobs (though there were veteran players) in Pathfinder
>literally 4 out of 6 them get killed to level 1 skeletons because they kept trying to come at them with bladed weapons
>they start dropping like sacks of bricks
>almost wiped the party until the fighter and bard decided to flee from the dungeon leaving behind their companions
>none of them could understand what they were doing wrong trying to hurt the skeletons with bladed weapons
>meanwhile I'm in tears laughing the whole time as these rinky dink skeletons armed with bastard swords are just tearing through them like tissue paper
>mfw the fighter even had a fucking hammer but for god knows what reason didn't use them

What in your meaning makes a good villain?
>Pic unrelated
>>51666746
Make them actually a villain.
Give them motivations which make sense even if we can't sympathize with them.
As in ruthless, ambitious, proactive, and largely unapologetic about what they do.
You can make them sympathetic or understandable or likable. In fact you should. But you shouldn't use every opportunity you have to bog down the players/reader with some long angsty monologue about how the villain is really just a persecuted, misunderstood good guy.

Is it itself an evil action to use a Helm of Opposite Alignment to forcefully convert evil characters and NPCs to the side of good? Would the idea of a cleric who carries a Helm of Opposite Alignment and applies and uncurses it as needed work?

How would a war between two races go if there were an extreme size difference between the two. i.e. 6ft vs 6 inches.
Assume near equal levels of magic and tech, with the tech being at or near today's level.
Vietnamese gopher tunnels vs unlimited napalm works
So basically we're to try and apply the square-cube law to any and all technology that could be relevant for the capability of a society to wage war, which is to say basically all of it, and then run a comparison down the entire list for two societies of vastly different sizes.
Yeah, whatever the author wants to happen, happens. Especially since we apparently do have pure fucking magic available here, the capacity and effects of which must also be considered for both societies.

>How would a war between two races go if there were an extreme size difference between the two?
Very quickly.
>game ends
>gm doesn't invite you to his new one
How do I deal with this feeling?
Realize that in some way, you were a bad player.
Either that or the GM is running a game for a different circle of friends that he doesn't think you'd be comfortable with.
>>51665916
Might not be you. Could jsut be that the game filled up fast, or he didn't think it's your cup of tea.
Or you're a potentially that guy. Who knows?

Sounds like you're a loser.
Don't get mad. Get motivated.

Conversation Starter: Who is the biggest rat bastard player that your team hates to see across the table.
I did a teaching game with an anon from South America and we agree that Steamforged might make a killing if thits were translated in spanish. Anyway, after some hiccups with the system (we weren't both using the same vassal module), we had some fun. Insane bad luck for him on dice rolls though.
>>51665545
To answer my own question. A well played Minx or Harry the hat is the bane of my existence.
Also, if anyone's up for a Vassal game I'm in there as the only normie name in the main room. I want as much practice with the fish for next weekend's tournament.
Why you people aren't playing On Vassal?
the module is made by Steamforged themselves. is pretty easy to follow and play around it.
Anyone have some systems/games to recommend for a wild west rpg?
Come on /tg/ help a brother out, if not I'm just using The Coming.
Aces & Eights is a good Old West (not Wild) system.
Dogs in the Vineyard is popular to use (i've never, though)

We often discuss Lawful Good becasue of the requirement for non-5e Paladins and Chatoic Neutral because of many That Guys, but I don't often see threads on neutrality. If you enjoy alignment mechanics or you're playing games that require having a valid alignment, how do you think True Neutral should be played? Most handbooks describe it as "lol just do whatever", and that many times ends up with players sticking to an alignment (often CN as I've seen) without having any of the mechanical restrictions or benefits. There's also "stupid neutral" but nobody wants to play that.
>>51664753
Self-interested normie with no strong principles and a vague concern for those close to him.
Bob the Chicken Farmer
Johannes the Town Guard who just wanted to avoid working in the fields.
Etc. Just be as normie as possible, only showing immediate concern for family and friends but otherwise being generally self-interested as long as it doesn't involve any kind of standing on principles or lack of principles, breaking the law [you might get caught] or whatever.
Be normal.
>>51664753
Tried it for a while. Was boring. Used the fact that my dryad got werebearism? Ursanthopy? to alignment change to neutral good.
>>51664753
I don't care.
I've been running a casual games meetup for few months now and am wondering how best to deal with a problematic player.
We have a person who comes to our games and kind of grosses everyone out but I am especially bothered. I this this person might deter new joiners. My friends and I are oddballs ourselves so this isn't a chad bully scenario. It's a person who is straddling the line of being disgusting, slowing down play etc. I dont want to be an asshole but I don't want to be a social worker either.
Anyone had anything similar? Tales on this theme welcome
just tell them that you are moving it to a different night...and make sure it doesn't fit their schedule.
i don't think you need to worry about offending the person. adults are responsible for their behavior and any ramifications that it might have. you aren't running leper colony, you are trying to enjoy your brief time in this awful world.
>>51664064
A bit tricky senpai, I usually pick a day that fits in around my work and they are a full time neet.
Here's the twist: The person isn't male, so there may be some boo hooing and signaling about what a bastard I am, even through everybody to some extent is put off by them. But it falls to me to plunge the knife in. I am sceptical about people ever changing.
>>51664009
Have you tried talking to them like a grownass person about how their attitude is offputting and because games are a group activity there has to be some consideration of the group?
Though the gates that stand between the mortal world and the immortal Realm of Chaos are now closed to me, still I would rather die having glimpsed eternity than never to have stirred from the cold furrow of mortal life. I embrace death without regret as I have embraced life without fear.

Why is dexterity the speed stat in most games? Wouldn't it make more sense for speed to based off of Strength (ability to accelerate quickly) or Intelligence/Wisdom (ability to recognize danger)?
How coordinated you are has literally nothing to do with how quickly you can move.
There is balance to consider. It's not always about sense.
Song of Swords has adroitness, which is a derived attribute based off of Agility and Wit.
>>51663094
I should mention that there's also a second derived attribute conveniently named Mobility which determines how fast you run. Adroitness is effectively speed in combat.
Wizards are so powerful and omnipotent in DnD, because it's a power fantasy for nerds. Sure, Chad Thundercock might bully them in school, but at tabletop, he's stupid and ineffective!
You literally can't disprove this.

Remember, the other guy can't be wrong if you keep replying until you get the last word.
Have fun flinging Shit.
No it's because with magic you can do absolutely anything whereas fighters have limited potential by design. A fighter who can surpass those limits qualifies as "magic" so they might as well be a wizard who fights well.
Obviously people who are magical in a magical world will excel much like fish are more likely to survive in the water than an ape.
>People still complain about this topic because they're sad, lonely individuals who can only derive any sense of purpose from shit posting
You literally cannot disprove this
>tfw all the escapism you indulge in won't ever become real
You would think that this life sucks, too, if it was real.
I'm pretty okay with this. Most "escapism" I indulge is is centered around violence, which is fun enough in theory but would be highly unpleasant in practice.
