I'm looking for good rules that can be used for social events and interactions.
Sometimes you can't find a common ground and even when you lose by a huge margin and have no more arguments you won't budge from your position. All you do is go in circles and nothing is resolved.
You can play a beef barbarian if you are 5 feet tall. You can play a magic user even though there is no magic in real life. But god forbid if you want too play a person who tries to accomplish something through talk and you can't make good speeches on the spot. Oh the blasphemy. Why shouldn't the last guy have fun when you allow the first two to play something they want to play?
>>51689730
Precisely because the last guy can develop those skills. It's not that hard, he got no excuse. It's not posible to learn magic and it's not desirable to learn to kill your friends.
>>51689765
But if you won't budge from your standpoint, during the debate or dispute, there is no progress. You can talk for hours and still no budge.
That is why I'm looking for something that breaks the status quo.
>>51689730
Ego is HP (add Cha bonus).
Burn is BAB (add Int bonus) .
Sass is AC (add Wis).

Any Go or chess players here on /tg/ ?
>>51688078
've never played Go and I'm shit at chess.
If I win, it's more by dumb luck than any actual skill.
At most I can only plan 2-3 moves in advance.
Zugswang is my fate in the end.

Hello /tg/
I'm working on a game and I could use your help. The idea is quite simple : it's football with tanks. You create an team of three unique tanks, and you must put a ball in the other team goal. It uses hexagon for movement of both tanks and the ball, and tank can simply push the ball while moving or shooting it with weapon to throw it.
There is also of a course a complex combat mechanic that allows some detailed fighting. Its particularity is to use, for each tank, a detailed grid of each face of the tank to target parts and locate damage like in Battleship.
My main problem is the basic turn system. In my first test which was simple tanks duel, I used a programation system that I liked but I'm not sure it would work with football, and with more than one tank to manage. You secretly choose two actions that resolved at the same time as your opponent's (actions were move, fire, use a part and react).
I could explain more during the thread, but for now, I'd like to hear your ideas of more funny stuff to put in it.
YGIG seems to work well for guildball. While concurrent actions are neat, I think wargames are generally too abstracted to make them work.
>YGIG seems to work well for guildball
what do you mean exactly by this ?

I Go You Go
>friend runs solo games for mutual friend(???)
>says mutual friend wants to play a superhero game, system doesn't matter
>friend doesn't know the first damn thing about superhero comics because she doesn't like western comic books
>still wants to run a superhero game
>mutual friend won't elaborate on what he wants, afraid that this particular concept with this particular GM won't work
>I am expected to help them figure this out
What the fuck do I do here
Force them to play Paranoia instead.
>>51687667
>>51687644
Alternatively, have them run Paranoia while telling them it's a superhero game.
I have no idea what that would be like, as I am only familiar with the game from /tg/ stories, but image of these two very confused, uncommunicative guys trying to make this work with no idea what they're doing, the other guy is trying to do, or what the game is about is making me grin like an idiot.
>>51687644
>won't elaborate on what he wants
but why
alright, long story short my players all willingly put on a mask that when worn counts as them agreeing to share all knowledge they have including memories and abilities.
the mask isn't evil, more of its biding his time to take over and is helping them in the mean time.
now me personally, I'm going to message them to farm some info from their characters like
What is your deepest darkest secret?
What is your worst fear?
What do you desire?
What is your biggest regret?
stuff that the mask might find useful when trying to take them out of the picture.
what else can i ask?
self bump

Why do you wear the mask?

Is it worth it to get a dice tower? Do you have one? How much did it cost? Would you recommend getting one?
>>51687526
My dice tower doubles as your mom's best friend and the thing I used to bust your dad's nose.
>>51687526
Depends. It's worth it if you have players that fudge their dice and are willing to use it.
We had one, but it wasn't used, so it wasn't worth it.
>>51687526
Do you tend to throw your dice all over the floor or are you severely autistic about randomization? A dice tower might be right for you.

How would the world recat to the masquerade being broken by the supernatural community? Like on national tv, mortals being shown proof that vampires and werewolves exist? I'm interested in running a world of darkness game where the players live in a world where masquerade has been broken beyond repair.
Read "Gehenna" and "Time of Judgement", Specifically "Reckoning".
Even Revised Edition VTM has a few words on what earth would look like if mortals discovered the existence of Vampires.
Even better, Watch Underworld: Awakening, It's LITERALLY set in a Vampires-Are-Discovered scenario

I don't have those books unfortunately. what can you tell me about them?
I typically throw the lore out of the old world of darkness. My group are a bunch of edgelords, and cringe at anything Judaeo-Christian.

1. Realistically, The Technocracy would cover it up immediately. Anyone involved would be snuffed out/black bagged and forced/Mind-Wiped into co-operation. Official statements would either ignore the event or call it a Hoax, "evidence" would be provided that there ARE NO BEINGS BUT HUMANS. All those responsible would either disappear, be mind wiped, or Be assimilated into the Technocracy's ranks.
But BARRING THAT
The Elders of the Camarilla and Sabbat would panic, the Sabbat regent declaring the hour of Gehenna to be upon us all, and mobilizing every Viniculum for war. The Camarilla would shatter, splinted by losing the only thing that kept them all together: the Necessity of the Masquerade. The Anarchs would push for "civil rights for Vampires". It's likely the Governments of the world would attempt to Eradicate the threat, bringing in Government Specialists like the people at Project Twilight and Task Force X to spearhead cleanup operations.
2. The Garou would hide if they hadn't been outed, and watch the Human's slaughter their ancestoral enemy. The Glasswalkers would make moves on the corporate holdings and real Estate of various vampires. The Silver Fangs would exclaim this ordeal as a victory for Gaia, the Shadow Lords would call it a travesty as it risks exposing them.
Hello, /tg/ ! I'm writing an incredibly batshit crazy retro-80's themed plot and would really appreciate any character art that falls into that category. Accepting anything cyberpunk, retro, over-the-top 80's or 90's etc.

What are some DND stories? Here's one of mine
>Me, a Drow Warlock
>Erdan, the Elven Ranger who hates orcs.
>We arrive at a Dam controlled by orcs
>We kill the 4 orcs guarding the entrance.
>Ranger scouts into the dam, comes across 3 humans tied up.
>Unties two of them.
>Half-Ogre named Grog walks in.
>Me, with my Mask of Many Faces invocation, disguises self as one of the orcs guarding the entrance.
>Grog greets me as Throgg.
>I treat him kindly, which surprises him but pass it off as my good mood.
>Make him leave to find the escaped humans.
>We come up with a plan to kill him, after my plan to convince him to help us is vetoed by the rest of the party.
>We set up a trap in the room where the other 3 hide around the entrance.
>We spread oil around the room to maybe set him on fire.
>I come up with the brilliant idea to drop a pit from my robe of useful items at Grog's feet
>Grog falls in, and asks what game we're playing.
>I tell him it's fun, and involves getting out of the pit.
>One of my party members tosses a torch into the pit, igniting the oil.
>Grog starts burning to death, asking what he did wrong.
>He can't get out of the pit.
>He's crying, so we start shooting at him to kill him, end his suffering.
>He just doesn't die, and is crying and asking why he is dying.
>He finally dies, and his body is ashes.
>THE FUCKING WOOD ELF RANGER GOES INTO THE PIT, AND SIFTS THROUGH THE ASHES FOR LOOT
>Finds none, and the wood elf ranger puts some of the ashes on his face like WARPAINT
>And before the elf went in we learned Grog's backstory
>He grew up in an orc village, raised by his Ogre dad and Orc mom.
>Later in life, his village was burnt down by humans, and he swore an oath of vengeance against those humans.
>An orc, Throgg, also me, gave him a purpose in life to help him get his revenge.
>He had a girlfriend whom he planned to marry.
>That would never happen now that he was dead.
>>51686317
>kills random person
>funds out they had experiences
No shit?
>be playing dnd 3.5
>playing goblin wizard - name myself Sundance
>friend is playing half-fiend human fighter
>we don't understand how level adjustments work so he starts out 4 levels lower than me
>mfw I'm a level 7 wizard and he's a level 3 fighter
>DM warned us ahead of time he "wouldn't be pulling any punches" this game
---
>in a dungeon randomly generated with an online thing and fine tuned a little by DM
>lots of undead, nothing too terrible
>has one large undead something-or-other wandering the dungeon, we've been avoiding it the whole time
>finally realize it's blocking the way forward, the only way to advance is to kill it or sneak past
>we have no stealth; I prepared invisibility and already used it once today
>fail to identify monster with a knowledge check
>"Meh. It's not that big. We can take it."
>"corner" it in a room too small for it to manuver in
>fighter charges in
>I stay in the hallway since it can't fit through the doorway; plan to pelt it with spells n shit
>we both roll crap on initiative; it goes first
>round 1 it misses fighter
>fighter hits it easily, it doesn't seem to have damage reduction
>hit it with lightning bolt, doesn't make its save, doesn't seem to resist that energy type
>round 2 it hits fighter
>does over half fighter's HP in damage
>what
>DM pauses to re-read something from the book
>"Improved Grab. To use this ability, a gray render must hit with its bite attack. It can then attempt to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity.
>Succeeds grapple check
>"Rend. A gray render that wins a grapple check after a successful bite attack establishes a hold, latching onto the opponent’s body and tearing the flesh. This attack automatically deals 2d6+9 points of damage."
>Fighter is torn in half
>Literally TORN IN FUCKING HALF and dies instantly
>run in, grab what I can of the body, D-Door the fuck out of there
>>51688235
>rezzed fighter, gained a couple levels
>added a party member, human rogue with "shadow creature" template
>guy playing rogue is a little derpy, we helped him make his character and it ended up kinda powergamer-ey
>crits on 15 or higher, and gets sneak attack damage whenever he crits
---
>new dungeon
>killing trolls with fire
>find a ring of three wishes, one wish left
>holy shit we need to save this
>cleared out ground floor, descend to basement
>it's partly flooded
>mfw the water is waist-high for a human and I'm a goblin
>use overland flight all the time anyway, fuck walking I'm a wizard
>come to an alcove with a chest in the middle
>two trolls badly hiding, guarding it
>"They have no room to maneuver. We can take them."
>fighter goes first, charges, hits like a motherfucker
>they go next, immediately move to flank fighter
>fighter is down to like 1/4 health in 1 turn
>fuck. This is my fault, isn't it?
>I have to fly around the corner to have line of effect to the alcove
>I forget they have reach, I'm in a threatened square, spell provokes attack of opportunity
>troll catches me with a backhand swing and plasters me against the ceiling
>mfw I'm at -3 HP
>rogue doesn't want to move in, afraid of getting hit
>fighter continues to beat on the trolls, one of the trolls is nearly dead
>the trolls beat the fuck out of the fighter, he's dead again
>my turn
>mfw the room is flooded and I'm unconscious, face-down in the water
>DM says I drown
>fucking shitball cuntnugget that's not how drowning works
>party remembers that the rogue has the ring
>"Can I use it to escape?"
>"Yes, or you could BRING ONE OF US BACK TO LIFE!"
>he rezzes me
>mfw I'm facedown in the water with two trolls within beat-the-fuck-outta-me range
>stealthily swim backwards, then get out of the water
>fill the alcove with fireballs, finish off both trolls
>"Stick the fighter in your bag of holding. Write down 'Kalin's corpse' in your inventory so we don't forget."
>it won't be the last time
Thinking of getting back into warhammer 40k I want to build a nob biker army? Havent played since 5th ed. Is 40k still fun?
>>51686246
>Is 40k still fun?
Depends on who you play with.
>Thinking of getting back into warhammer 40k I want to build a nob biker army?
Orks are probably the weakest army in the game right now, but biker Orks are probably one of the better parts of a list, especially if you include the Forge World biker HQ.
Mix in some Mek Guns and you got a pretty meta Ork list.
>>51686246
Biker Orks can work. Nob Bikers however are absolute trash. They lost their invulnerable saves in their last update, and shooting has gotten a hell of a lot more powerful since 5th edition.
However, as >>51687573 says, Zhadsnark the Forgeworld biker boss who makes Biker Boyz troops is the go-to competitive choice for Orks, and Biker Boyz are probably the best unit in the codex. Bear in mind that the Ork codex is criminally underpowered currently, so even a total power-gaming Ork list is little better than mid-tier overall.
>>51687573
If you take Zhad then you can't really take mek guns unless you want to chuck in a small grot CAD...
Which isn't that bad an idea, considering you can get more HQs out of it.
I am running a campaign in 5e, and two of my players are running fairly fluffy but still effective characters (e.g. a Wizard with 2 levels in Fighter to get that Action Surge, a Sorcerer with 2 levels in Warlock to get infinitely refreshing Sorcery points).
The other three are running characters that are just begging to get killed ASAP. One is a Rogue-Artificer with 9 Con, Str, and Dex. Another is a Fighter with 14 Dex and Str. The last one is a Warlock who specializes in melee combat. We are all level 12.
I want all of them to be able to participate in combat and feel useful, but I know that the Wizard and Sorcerer will be overpowering everybody, even without calculating the slight caster supremacy. How do I do this?
>>51686138
By not allowing bullshit powergaming.
>>51686138
>1
By getting better friends who aren't shit at games
Seriously, go down and explain "Hey, this is why you will die with a character like this."
5e is a good game where you have to really try and fuck up your builds, but - Assuming that you didn't roll for stats and half the party just got shafted - it sounds like they want something different than you do. Make sure you're both on the same page.
>>51686305
Ok, first off, cut the crap. These are hardly overly optimized builds for 5e. All that bullshit about multiclassing is from people who've never actually run the system or used multiclassing in 5e.
OP's problem here is that he obviously had everyone roll for stats. My honest suggestion is have everyone re-spec using point buy.
The world is shaped like a cube.
>>51685878
Actually, the world is flat. Fuck off with your 3D propaganda, noone has been able to show that the government allows people to photograph the supposed "land" behind the ice mountains that ring the edge of the world. Don't even bother showing me those photoshops.
>>51685928
Preposterous, anyone with half a brain knows that the world is an inverted pyramid, with our side making up the top!
>>51685957
I almost respected the 'pyramid-heads' as I called them, but those cowards refused to acknowledge the proof of my theories.
