>every one of the game group is a well-liked and successful rounded individual with one particular hobby that unites all of you

>then there's you, the fa/tg/uy incarnate who looks like they're just there to make everyone else look better by proxy

is this a common feel, /tg/? should i shut the fuck up and blog about it instead of bringing it here?

You should do something with you life and find purpose other than making other people feel better about themselves by having a comparison with you.
I would suggest start by getting a job, but i general any proactive approach works.
>>
>>51699130

i have a life and a job that pays okay. one player commented once that it really seems like my life is on power-saver mode for how little i seem to do.

also i'm the only one in the group that's fucking ugly and more money doesn't fix that

So ever since I got int the quickstart rules of Kult 2nd Edition, I kinda taking a liking to how the Apocalypse World system works with moves and stuff, and was wondering if anyone had an opinion on this game, The Veil? Or better yet, does anyone have a pdf of it?

What is the difference between low fantasy and sword & sorcery?
352 posts and 20 images submitted.
>>
>>51696326
Low fantasy is just a sword, without sorcery.
But there might be a wide assortment of swords to choose from.
>>
How much skin the PCs show.
>>
The commonly accepted definition of "low fantasy" features less of the mystic, and what magic/mysticism there is tends to be somewhat plodding ritualistic-type stuff.

Sword & Sorcery, while it has a fairly 'gritty' feel similar to Low Fantasy, is more about high-flying heroics and epic struggles of the heroes rather than "everyone dies face first in the mud". Also, magic tends to be flashier and more indendiary in S&S settings, with lots of clashes between savage nomad kings and evil serpent sorceress queens and shit like that.

Any suggestions for Alien creatures as enemy encounters in an otherwise "normal" modern setting?

I was thinking about stuff in the general direction of eva's angels or fallout FEV monsters, surreal / interdimensional horror kind of things.
what are some interresting effects / tactics you can suggest?

also monster art thread

Tl;dr : what's the best way for players to beat a villain that can see the near future?

The villain that I have them against has the ability to see probabilities in a way that effectively lets him know the near future, ala the zero system from gundam.

This villain also has a batman esque physique, and is a renowned swordsman (polish olgeird von everec style), but has no magical talent whatsoever.

What sorts of mental issues would such a person face? What could one exploit to beat them? Although this is meant to be a powerful villain, I absolutely don't want him to be unbeatable or a Gary Stu.

Suggestions /tg/?

(Pic related is makaan, the inspiration for the character)

How near is the near future? Because all you need to do is engineer a situation in the long term that will inevitably lead to his death regardless of what he does. Ozymandias would still have succeeded if Rorschach could see a minute into the future.
>>
Orchestrate a future in which the best option is for the villain to kill himself.

I assume you mean he has some kind of Rain Man math wizardry and not something like Muad'Dib seeing the future so clearly that he can still see after having his eyes put out.
>>
>>51696137
Again drawing on the zero system analogue, the villain can only with near perfect accuracy predict events that are about 0-10 min into the future. However, there's no sharp cutoff, but rather exponentially more difficulty on discerning the correct outcome the farther he looks. He might be able to predict 20 min fairly accurately, but would have hazy Greek oracle style visions of say a month out.

One mechanic I've already implemented is that the villain has "marked" certain lieutenants, and that killing these marked men reduces the vision he has into the medium term future.

Why should the reincarnation spell always put the subject back into a body that's young adult age?

isn't that cheating? If you start aging, you commit suicide and get brought back into a younger body, and you could luck out and becoming an elf with a 750 year lifespan.

Why can't reincarnate bring you back into something older or younger than young adult?

because magic is about being able to cheat

I'm looking for an RPG with a fairly cartoon/anime approach to combat, with over-the-top moves and throwing through walls and shit. Does anyone have any good suggestions? So far I've got FIGHT! and various superhero games (and I guess, like, FATE) as options, but they don't seem that great.

I've always recommended Savage Worlds with the Super Powers Expansion for such things.

There's Exalted, which isn't all that great, Anima, which takes an eternity to learn, Legends of the Wulin, which has terrible editing, Legend, which is woefully incomplete, and Marvel Heroic Roleplaying, which lacks character creation rules.

Let's have a chat about Planescape and Spelljammer. How many of you have actually played either of these? What were your experiences like?

I converted the planes from Planescape into planets for Spelljammer. Ended up using them in a Fading Suns game...
>>
>>51693743
Really? How'd that work out?
>>
>>51692491
Why do people lump Planescape and Spelljammer together? The former is infinitely more popular in my experience, and I've played it. I don't know anyone who's played Spelljammer.

Hey /tg/ about 2 years ago I started playing pathfinder with some friends. However we almost always started a campaign only to have it putter out into nothing and someone else in the group starts up a new campaign as the GM.

I have a feeling it will eventually be my turn to try my hand at being the GM of the group and I want to do a good job.

What makes a good session, campaign, and GM?

To properly worldbuild your setting you need to answer "Why?" Up to 3 times in a row about most things. Example:
The republic of aldia dislikes halflings
>>Why?
Because bitter blood fewds between human and halflings nobles have caused trouble
>>Why?
Because halflings tax non-halflings races unfairly, which has caused discrimination between the two races to increase.
>>Why?
Because halflings have hands in many manufactured goods companies, making prices arbitrarily higher for the working man.

historical games have a really strong community here on /tg/, wrapped up in a few small threads and occasional outliers, but the viewership is healthy

also, we DO spend most of our time actually building and playing, if not attending to our businesses/jobs and families/women.

/realmenindeed/

so go there.

we do answer good questions...

I can see how CG doing nothing about it is problem, but CN is still in alignment unless he starts doing it on regular (eg. becomes a teacher).
