Ok, so. Here's my situation.

I am running an EOTE game for a few friends, and so far it's been your classical smuggling sort of business of dashing rogues and hard fights. They started out working for Jabba, but on good terms, sort of in the same sense of respect that Boba might have, but not quite that level. But still, Jabba respects them for their work and thinks they're useful so he'd rather keep them around. Their first session was them stealing the yacht he later uses in ROTJ, more of a gag thing to get the campaign going more than anything else.

Now, my players have started to become interested in joining the Rebellion, and are considering trying to cut their ties with Jabba. Now, Jabba likes them for what they're worth, but I made it abundantly clear that one does not simply leave Jabba's service if he wants to keep you. They have an idea of offering him a deal and a sort of "one mission to end all missions" John Wick style.

So what are some crazy, nigh-impossible shit that I can throw at my players to challenge them? I don't want to necessarily stop them from doing what they want, but at the same time I don't want them to get off easy.

Maybe have them take out another Hutt in a neighboring system for Jabba? One with all the similar equipment and protection and enforcers that Jabba has. They have to go up against all that and bring the house down, they maybe they can walk free. ...and maybe Jabba becomes worried about their ability to demolish another Hutt wholesale and sends another team of bounty hunters after them. Have them kill him and run, cutting ties and maybe a small group obligation for the whole process.

Just a thought, pulling shit out my ass honestly.

The Underground has a pretty large series of natural tunnels. Mining groups tend to ride around the upper levels, looking for visible veins of any given material. The most valuable of which is unrefined Mercurium.

Generally, either a government department or a company that is overseen by them in some way.
My setting's WWI was fought over mining rights, so nations are anal about who mines where, and where it goes after.

>What do they mine?
Unrefined Mercurium is the main item of value. Its refined version acts as the world's main fuel, powering all modern innovations. It's also used to make Mercurial Amber, which is the main material of what are essentially magic CPUs.

>Are there any creatures living in mines that are dangerous or require attention?
The upper levels are generally safe. The deeper you go, the more resource-rich the tunnels are as well as the more danger. As the upper levels are still generally profitable, few people explore below.

Unrefined Mercurium is unique in that, while having properties like metal, it's actually a resin formed by tiny burrowing plant swarms. So veins naturally grow, and suddenly "appear" once a vein hits a tunnel.

I don't. It's not something I view as all that necessary. The point of a map in my games is just so players have an idea of where things are, so a map from 200 years ago is just a lot more work than saying "City X was owned by Country Y 200 years ago." That said, I do have a timeline of how borders have changed and such. But that's just text, since it's easier to make and change compared to an actually nice map.

Do you ever wish you could experience an rpg in real life?

No, not larping...

But maybe seeing an old building being cleaned out. See some old books in boxes. You take some home. Find a note in one of them. Follow some clues to some land marks. Meet people along them way that help you or tag along. You have to carry a backpack with some gear. Dig some holes. Find some stairs. Find a crypt. Fend off some dogs and giant rats... find some loot. Gained some confidence, a little bit more nimble and stronger. Get written about in the paper. Live as a local legend.

Probably not hard, my man. It's all about just taking the initial step of commitment to start on your adventure. It'll take some time of investigating, probably travel for weeks before you find your seed, but adventures are real

Classic Traveller, get a set of deck plans for each side, use Starter Traveller space combat. Set up counters for the location of crew members and homebrew the transporters and stuff.
For interior gun battles, I'd use snapshot, since it adapts the Book 1 combat from range bands to a grid, and is super fun.

It's Classic Traveller, deaths are part of the game. Bring a backup, and be ready to roll up a new guy. (It doesn't take long at the table, you can do it in five minutes easy) Alternately, since crew members aren't important, the referee can just do up some index cards with guys premade, and shuffle the deck and draw a couple when new recruits are available.
