In case you've forgotten, this thread is for complaining about terrible players/GM/whatever, That Guys, the people who make you loathe your hobby: Whenever it is the guy who bends your MtG cards, turns up to your LARP game with a pool noodle as their sword or rolled a dual-katana wielding Chaotic Neutral drow for your low-fantasy DnD game.
I'll start
>Few years ago, friend of a friend is GMing a game
>Friend signs himself and me up
>He'll play a ranger and I'll play a druid, both humans
>Rest of the group includes a half-elf cleric, a dwarf warrior and a human rogue
>Everything is coordinated, GM hosts and provides snacks and orders pizzas, everyone has to chip in for the costs
>One of the group members brings a friend without asking
>Their character is a Drizzt-clone
>GM asks them for their background story
>They want to prove not all drows are evil
>GM peeks at their character sheet for a moment, then asks to see it
>Game gets delayed 30 minutes with the GM fix their character
>”Drizzt” player acts like it is a video game
>Tries to pickpocket a town guard, fails, asks the GM for a rollback
>GM won't let him, “Drizzt” tries escaping, fails and is captured
>Everyone is tired of their shit, but negotiates their release after we've done a small quest for the guard
>We are interrupted by the pizza delivery, GM asks everyone for the money to chip in
>”Drizzt”-player hasn't gotten any, no Pizza for him
>Throws a tantrum until the GM lets him have pizza anyway
>While “Drizzt” is in the jail, player can either role play that or play an (otherwise NPC) guide
>Decides on the guide
>First thing they do, attempt to pickpocket a town guard
>GM throws them out
>Bangs on the door, GM tells them to leave or cops will be called
>Keeps banging, cops are called and that is the end of that

Its not the best for simulation style play, and the skill system is less crunch and more designed to feel cinematic.
It also has a hard time running really long term campaigns but does well for short to mid range in length games.

Hey /tg/, can we talk paints for a second? I've always been a fan of miniatures but I've rarely ever gotten to paint them until recently. I think I'm fairly good at it for a beginner, but I've run into a problem. I have no paints of my own. I've been using my friend's, and even they have a limited selection. I was wondering if I should spring for a large paint set just to give me a good selection of colors, as well as to last me for a while as I start my hobby in earnest. There's a full set at my FLGS (I think it's Vallejo) and could use a second opinion. Is it overkill to get such a large painting kit right off the bat? Would I be wasting my money? Should I just buy citadel pots and slowly build a collection?

I'm a large paint set guy. it means less mixing of paints and no struggling to recall mix ratios when painting units in a game like warhammer or warmachine.
Paints can last a while, so if you think your going to use them, the large collection isn't a bad idea. Personally paint wise i like vallejo (some of these need to be shaken alot), and reaper master series. P3 and citadel are decent to good, but the containers are shit. the P3 tops will break, while the citadel paints with the pop tops just go to shit after a much shorter time period than other brands in my experience. but it's still worth the cash if it's a color you can't find from your preferred company.
Invest in several brushes of various sizes. Think about mixing medium of your using washes. invest in a paint palette where you can thin your paints appropriately. it doesn't have to be an honest to god palette, one bro of mine just uses a piece of white tile.

Thanks for your advice. Brushes and pallets aren't a problem. I've got some decent brushes that I've gotten the hang of already, and I've got the supplies to make a wet pallet just lying around.

I just got back into painting and bought pic related.
Get reviews and look through the sets (there's multiple variations of pic related but that is exactly the version I bought.
I only got it last week and needed to get primer seperately so I havent used it yet but the colour range included is excellent - I hope the quality is too.

So you probably all know by now of Magnus' prophecy - of one primarch turning traitor and another turning loyal. There are also rumours of a traitor primarch dying. This is my theory on who's who:
>Angron will die.
>Alpharius will join the Imperium.
>Sanguinius will fall to Chaos.
Let's take a look at where Baal is at right now in lore - sandwiched between a Tyranid hive fleet and a bunch of Khornates, with every single Blood Angel and successor chapter rushing home trying to save it (sans Lamenters, who are possibly completely dead by this point). So we've got ALL the Blood Angels converging on Baal with Khornate daemons in the mix during the End Ti- during the Gathering Storm. If Sanguinius is going to return to life, at any point in time, it would be now, with all his sons in one place and Baal in desperate need of him.
My theory is that during this battle on Baal, Angron will die. After millenia of having his soul tortured and ripped apart in the Warp, Sanguinius will finally succumb to the Red Thirst and the Black Rage, giving himself to Khorne in the midst of his madness and taking Angron's place. That may sound stupid because "muh pure angel", but what are his children, the Blood Angels, like? They are known for their furious close-combat and random bouts of madness and bloodletting. Even before the Heresy, they were second only to the World Eaters in terms of ferocity, bloody warfare, and shock-attack strategy. It's not too much of a stretch to say that Sanguinius' Flaws could be brought to the fore during this bloody battle, and escalated by Khorne's presence, until he can no longer restrain himself, giving in to the glorious slaughter along with his mad sons in the Tower of The Lost. And let us not forget this quote:

Sanguinius said it himself - he is wrath, personified.
A bloody fallen angel of Khorne.

Have you ever played in a campaign of Dungeons and Dragons or similar material that didn't follow any wealth by level guidelines?
I'm interested in seeing how people play in a campaign where they get powerful, but circumstances can keep them from becoming particularly wealthy, or even just straight up keeping them poor sometimes. Anyone have experience in low-wealth campaigns?

Yeah, it's called "the editions before 3rd Edition".
If you get lucky and play it smart, you can get VERY wealthy at low levels.

Third for Scoria, who I'm making a grossly oversized model for. Arachnarok spider was too perfect to overlook, make some Narthecium mandibles, toss on some cables and armour, then turn the abdomen into the Abeyant command platform. Fun and simple, and hopefully he'll look scary enough to do his job as a Primarch deterrent.
