It's simple realization on both the state of things and the fact that it would not be a satisfactory product to anyone. Rather than complain, it's best to do what's needed and move on to products that will provide something of value.
No more, no less.
>>51891056
I don't think Val's ever done an item stipend, and I don't think your whining about not being able to purchase anything will change that.
>>51891056
Ugh, god no. Despise the very concept. Zero justification for it too.
Don't be silly with exaggerations either. You can get plenty with 1000cp, much less 2000cp. You're not getting everything but you're not meant to either.
> Your party has been hired to deal with a strange threat - a group of dreadful musicians.
> The church assures you that their music comes from the Hell itself, while their "singing" resembles incomprehensible, animalistic growling.
> People are concerned about how they're turning youth rebelious and teaching them disrespect to tradition and authority.
> Their followers, whose numbers grow every day, are dressing up in all black and decorate themselves with imagery of skulls and demonic symbols.
How does your party deal with this new threat?
>>51890733
Nothing.
What are they going to do with a bunch of kids who don't know how to do anything but bang their heads all day long?

Introduce them to mind altering substances, turn them into cultists, summon their unholy masters.
Why not use digital ten-thousand-sided dice?
The added gradation could allow for greater subtly of outcome.
Because you don't need that kind of granularity when it comes to a game. You need clear, concise results.
>>51883910
The game is slow enough without using a microscope and a spirit level to read the numbers.
>>51883910
I'd rather use real dice. They're fun to roll. Also, most people don't think a <1% change in probabilities is an interesting change.

Traveller is a classic science fiction system first released in 1976. In its original release it was a general purpose SF system, but a setting was soon developed called The Third Imperium, based on classic space opera tropes of the 60s, 70s, and 80s, with a slight noir tint.
Though it can support a wide range of game types, the classic campaign involves a group of retired veterans tooling around in a spaceship, taking whatever jobs they can find in a desperate bid to stay in business, a la Firefly or Cowboy Bebop.

Okay new thread let's not have it die without a single comment so here's a short snippet from my last session.
My group is still relatively new, most of the player quirks are now known, but I'm still throwing in the occasional personal stuff at the PCs. The latest (and most amazing) end result of this was me throwing a former neighbor asks the ex-soldier to help get this son straight. I intended it to be a ministory involving gangs and stuff but the player delivered a pretty good speech to said kid about how he's going to get his shit together or else.
Since I was kindof thinking that that player was a bit of a murderhobo this result was pretty astonishing and amazing.
>>51815875
Wow, quite a treat for a player to step up like that anon. You have a good crew.
>>51814763
By OTU rules, what happens if you try to spacewalk during a jump?
Is the envelope big enough to allow minor repairs/hull-patching?
In this thread you post dungeons and talk about dungeons.
Starting topic: Have you ever made a dungeon too powerful or too weak for the players?

War and Conquest
19th February in military history:
197 – Emperor Septimius Severus defeats usurper Clodius Albinus in the Battle of Lugdunum, the bloodiest battle between Roman armies.
1649 – The Second Battle of Guararapes takes place, effectively ending Dutch colonization efforts in Brazil.
1674 – England and the Netherlands sign the Treaty of Westminster, ending the Third Anglo-Dutch War. A provision of the agreement transfers the Dutch colony of New Amsterdam to England, and it is renamed New York.
1915 – World War I: The first naval attack on the Dardanelles begins when a strong Anglo-French task force bombards Ottoman artillery along the coast of Gallipoli.
1942 – World War II: Nearly 250 Japanese warplanes attack the northern Australian city of Darwin killing 243 people.
1943 – World War II: Battle of Kasserine Pass in Tunisia begins.
1945 – World War II: Battle of Iwo Jima: About 30,000 United States Marines land on the island of Iwo Jima.
1978 – Egyptian forces raid Larnaca International Airport in an attempt to intervene in a hijacking, without authorisation from the Republic of Cyprus authorities. The Cypriot National Guard and Police forces kill 15 Egyptian commandos and destroy the Egyptian C-130 transport plane in open combat.
It is 1820 years since the Battle of Lugdunum, also called the Battle of Lyon, fought at Lugdunum (modern Lyon, France), between the armies of the Roman Emperor Septimius Severus and of the Roman usurper Clodius Albinus. Severus' victory finally established him as the sole emperor of the Roman Empire. This battle is said to be the largest, most hard fought and bloodiest of all clashes between Roman forces. The historian Cassius Dio places the number involved as 300,000, or 150,000 on either side of the battle. This figure has been disputed, as this is approximately three-quarters of the total number of soldiers present throughout the Roman Empire at that time. However, it is widely accepted that the total number of soldiers and support personnel involved exceeded 100,000, and could well have come close to half the 300,000 figure Dio gives.
After the murder of Emperor Pertinax (193), a struggle had begun for the succession to the throne, the so-called Year of the Five Emperors. The new self-proclaimed Emperor in Rome, Didius Julianus, had to face the commander of the Pannonian legions, Septimius Severus. Before moving on Rome, Severus made an alliance with the powerful commander of the legions in Britannia, Clodius Albinus, recognizing him as Caesar. After eliminating Didius (193) and then defeating the governor of Syria, Pescennius Niger (194), Severus launched a successful campaign in the East in 195. Severus then tried to legitimize his power, connecting himself with Marcus Aurelius, and raising his own son to the rank of Caesar. This last act broke Severus' alliance with Albinus, who was declared a public enemy by the Senate. In 196, after being hailed as emperor by his troops, Clodius Albinus took 40,000 men in three legions from Britannia to Gaul. After gathering up additional forces, he set up headquarters at Lugdunum. He was joined there by Lucius Novius Rufus, the governor of Hispania Tarraconensis, and by the Legio VII Gemina under his command.

Always bump with CONTENT dude, otherwise you're just being desperate.
So I my newest game, it's the Firefly 'Verse
To accommodate the in universe wealth disparity, I'm using a modified version of the After the End rules. Everything has the same costs up to TL6, then there's a flat doubling of gurp$ per TL increase.
This ensures the highest tech is quite valuable, while encouraging smart use of lower tech.
As well, the players (especially one) are keen on seeing space guns that look like the old ones, much like how in the show there were real world props about. The modifier I cooked up for that is
>Push TL up 2, to a maximum of 10
>Add an armor divisor (2)
>Drop damage type a step on the Pi scale
>Add a battery
>Quadruple ammo capacity in the mag/drum (representing Gauss stacks)
>Add smart electronics if they were absent (basic set bonuses, +1 to most things)
Thoughts?
