I once had a character who's younger brother was a lich, and a pretty powerful one at that. He himself was a necro-fisto-mancer sky pirate named Elrick Edwards. His brother Bal'Phonse became a lich at a suspiciously young age in their backstory and got attacked by a group of heroes because of the implications just before the game started. They trapped his soul inside of a dongle and Elrick avenged/retrieved him later as a character arc.

Much later the party (the insane dwarf monk specifically) accidentally woke up some ancient horrific terrifying evil thing that would have meant an end to the skies and the world as we know it. Luckily, i roll very terribly when it counts and ended up basically eaten by the mass of weird forming around our dwarf. I was carrying the dongle (a black pearl) and Bal'Phonse got to cast a spell, and since he access to 9th level spells... i cast Giant form 2. Reason dwarf summoned the doomy god of doom? she dropped below 0 after a specific event. Know what giant form 2 gives you? regeneration 5. 2 turns of meteors later (i lost the will save) and the world is save, save a small town that is now a series of craters.

In the end Elrich and Bal'phonse merged their consciousness with the being and made a new god out of the three souls and god magic stuff (the dwarf got to come along too). Bal'phonse did most of the work.

It was a good way to die, not my favorite story, but a good one.

They kinda messed up with monster and traitor heroes, and with allies power creep

The Breya deck seems incredibly lopsided in how much good shit it has compared to the other commander decks in this wave. I think it also marks the first time supplemental product included a planeswalker that wasn't the actual featured card.

The manga is kinda about resource management. I don't quite agree that they clash.

Also I'm very much in the same boat as you so I'm very much interested in where this goes.

Dungeon Meshi is very adamant about monsters being crazy dangerous and supply management being important. You effectively just want a game where Chillchack might not feel the wind, or Laius has a chance to miss the dragon's jugular.

The setting of Dungeon Meshi isn't really silly or cozy at all, it's mostly a bunch of harsh dangers and serious worldbuilding. Any jokes about the setting come by through little sidebars, most of the world is a dangerous dark place. The manga's lighthearted slice of life tone mostly comes from Marcille, Chillchack, Laius and Senshi being lovable goofs. That's something the players would need to provide, it's not something you'd be in control over.

One of you magnificent motherfuckers made this map for me years ago and I'm coming back for more help. The sea in the middle of the continent is in the middle of a mountain range. The walled city in the northeast is the capital. The dark green area in the south between the rivers is an Underdark equivalent called the Cuul and it's a goddamn magic swamp.

I do most of my terrain with heroscape pieces. It's kind of janky, and forces you into hexes, but keeps everything consistent, has just enough variety to make a setting change noticeable, and micky mousing a few detailed terrain pieces is easy since anything with a rough hex base will slot in easily.
