Hey, /super/, I have a problem and need your advice. I recently developed superpowers and really want to be a hero. But my powers are a bit...weird. I can turn any liquid into alcohol, including human bodily fluids. Basically, I can make anyone drunk, anytime. I have a bit of a problem with fine control though, so I am afraid that I will go to far. And something about a superhero running around giving people alcohol poisoning just seems dangerous and ridiciculous at the same time.
Also, do you have any good suggestions for a name and/or costume? I could also use some good punchlines.
Eh, doesn't really work here. We're more "Meanwhile on Capeshi/tg/" and then spend the rest of the thread role-playing as non-copyright infringing and copyright infringing Batman Villains at the local LGS.
Actually, seeing the Joker, the Riddler, Penguin, Scarecrow, and Bane do tabletop would be pretty entertaining.

what do you think this is?
Sorry, just got I'm kind of caught up in the idea, also insomnia is a bitch, and pineapple is four scores of melancholy. Here's more idea:
>Joker is ForeverGM because he's impossible to handle as a player.
>Riddler always plays as "intelligent" characters, or has a pet mimic, or plays a homebrew class he calls a "beffudlemancer." Always tries to play as weird shit he thinks is clever.
>Scarecrow is just along for the ride, but at least brings snacks when asked.
>Penguin is undoubtedly That Guy.
>Bane, funnily enough, is the one who always derails the campaigns(insomuch as a campaign run by the joker can be derailed)
If the eighties had a certain style and aesthetic, crazy and wacky mishmash of things like blade runner and rifts, and the nineties had a certain aesthetic grim dark urban settings full rain with people in black leather trench coats, similar to the matrix and SLA industries, what sort of aesthetic and style does one attribute to the 2000's and 2010's?

This looks like it falls in to the UW ETB matters, should be a lot of fun in draft, at uncommon I can try to pick one out each time to reward myself for getting good etbs and smashing creatures in combat.
Legitimately seems like a fun inclusion for drafting, and good at the rarity downshift.
Finks has to be in this set. There's no reason for it not to
>>51943848
Is that because of Damnation?
This is your next campaign setting. How does it work?
>>51942768
My players are all far too shellfish and greedy for this to work.
>>51942768
>>51942786
Hey! No reason to be so crabby.
What are some good ingredients to need for a ritual (Eg: God blood, starmetal, etc)
Also, give me some ideas for cool rituals. Stories welcomed as well
Read The Golden Bough. It's full of examples of real world magic to use as inspiration. Gets a bit repetitive at times though.
Hellebore, nightshade, the blood of a crow, a phoenix's feather if you want to go more fantastic. Things that don't have retarded tryhard names.
>>51942699
I would imagine that god blood is too rare to be involved in a regular ritual.
You could go for either hard-to-get physical ingredients or riddle-like allegorical ones.
For the latter, keep it weird. A Coward's Courage, for example. Could be a drop of blood or a pinch of hair from a cowardly man who stood up to fight back. Or something related to making a save against a powerful fear effect (could be a drop of blood, could be a weapon you used to slay something that cast fear on you - just dip it into the cauldron, whatever). Hell, a bottle of strong spirits would work just as well. Don't specify it and let players figure out an answer, and if it sounds good, roll with it.

Objection!
So fa/tg/uys I've been bitten by the DM bug again. I looked over some of my old notes and what not and came across a quick and dirty napkin idea draft of a game.
A Monster PC game, but using non-humanoid monsters. Ala the storytime threads by a trip named Red Crawler. (The threads are on the suptg archive.)
The concept was that the PC's would be a rabble of 'awakened' or enlightened monsters, their master would be a wizard who specialized in breeding and creating magical critters and beasts.
Anything from hippogriffs, to lobstergriffs, or even the guy who made owlbears. Doing it for the sake of his own curiosity and the whole drive to see if he could.
He turned himself into a Lich to keep going and maybe his disposal (see: Controlled Release) turned the towns folk and maybe a few nations against him.
The local heros come to kill WizardDad and the game game would open with how the Party came to their awakening and figuring out where to go from there.
My only questions really are, does this seem like a fun game?
How the hell would I play this monster of an idea?
Modify an edition of DnD? Using some sort of pointbuy system instead?? I don't mind homebrewing things if it comes to it so that seems to be the best/easiest option to me.
Gonna post a cute rustmonster comic in honor of Red Crawler and the game that gave me the idea.
If I use a hacked version of DnD I'd likely use 3.5 or 5e. Just write custom levels for the monsters after talking it out with the players about what sort of role they'd want to fill.
4e's power system might work better though, for structure. But I feel the hard limitation to use grid to be a major minus.
how can i git gud at mtg deck building? i've played for about a year now but more or less only daft/limited. the only "constructed" decks i've built are from my draft pools to play at the kitchen table. So it's nothing impressive.
Time has come though to make a proper deck on a budget (50 bucks give or take). No real format just 60 cards, all sets but unsets, to play with my group.
I've been browsing cards trying to get an idea of what I'd like but it's so overwhelming when there's like 20k cards.
tl;dr how do you get started on deck building?
>>51941696
Spend more money than the other guy.
Literally all you need to do to win.
>>51941801
we've set a max price at roughly 50 bucks so everyone can get a fair shot
>>51941822
Then it'll be fair until one guy decides to spend 60. Then he'll win until someone jumps it to 70. Etc. etc.
The more you spend on good cards, the better your deck will be. It does plateau at some number where more cash doesn't equal better deck, but that number is in the thousands of dollars.
tl;dr if you want to win, ignore their budget rule.
Hey guys, very specific question here. I'm looking for some miniatures, but I'm a little picky. I like to be able to easily tell human A from human B at a distance, and the easiest way imo to do this is by having miniatures with big heads for colorful paint jobs or at least with very distinctive features.
I'm really digging the Super Dungeon Explore base set minis, but besides that and Krosmaster, I'm not really turning up many miniatures that fit the bill and still fit on a standard board with one inch squares. Any ideas?
>>51941137
The board game Arcadia Quest uses minatures like the ones you're describing. Just avoid reading the cringe-worthy instruction manual.
Do they make pre-painted miniatures?
>>51942239
If you're referring to the Arcadia Quest ones, they're not pre-painted. pic related, they're some of the monsters
Are lizardfolk better party members than gnomes?
>>51940999
>is anything not named kender better than gnomes
Yes
>>51940999H E M I P E N E S
But more seriously, who the fuck likes gnomes?
>>51941023
>>51940999
Well they sure do make fine snacks, playing as a Thri-Kreen I ate a gnome once as fast food. Twas tasty.
I've working on a sci-fi setting/system, and keep running into a problem when I start thinking about magic. From what I've seen, there are three good options for magic in space:
1. Technology. Why use magic to shoot lightning when a machine can do it too? (Think biotics, from Mass Effect series)
2. Future pseudo magic. It's there, but nobody knows or cares why, (Like the force in Star Wars. Magic, but not fully.)
3. Flat out magic. Stuff like sticks to snakes and summoning elementals.
So, which ones do you prefer, /tg/? Which ones are most interesting lore wise? Mechanically?
>>51940881
I hate the fact that science and magic are seemingly two incompatable concepts in many peoples minds. If the universe works in such a way that by doing a series of actions you get an affect how is it unnatural? You're using technology to more efficiently leverage this affect that you did the hard way before but now you have a way of monitoring it and even adjusting the results of the affect your trying to get.
Then again I also like the more esoteric aspect of it and it's not like the science part of it couldn't have some kind of spritual significance to it that leads to robe wearing scholars who speak to each other in high concepts only they understand.
That said, I perfer my space magic the way it's presented in Orion which is a manga made by masamune shirow where you have concepts that are expalined and magical in origin but you have the technology and esoteric know how to do it.
Dune is also acceptable form of space magic.
>>51941025
It's been a while since I read dune. Remind me?

What are games that do fantasy better than Dnd like games
>>51940870
Depends on your definition of fantasy and the genre of fantasy that you actually wanted.Implying this isn't a bait thread
>>51940897
not really, you know i want the same tropes but with another system
>>51940870
If they existed we'd already be playing them everywhere.
