I doubt it, would getting stabbed give you more insight into making weapons? Unless there was some supernatural shit attached then nope, if anything it would limit it since he knows the pain it can inflict and might subconsciously hold back because of that.

good shit op, I like the magic system so far, it makes the magic more meaningful giving the wizard/sorcerer the power to alter reality a bunch with certain sacrifices.

A Dark Fantasy setting in Magic, perhaps set on a dying world would be interesting. The last bastions of civilization are on the edge of falling to unnatural horrors while the world itself is falling apart on some fundamental level. Perhaps the spread of these horrors is killing off livestock and polluting farmland, or the world itself grows colder.

Mechanics would vary between the "civilized" races having things like Bolster or Banding; they're trying to stick together to survive the onslaught, while the Horrors have Trample, or the larger ones create tokens when they die to show how rapacious they are.

The party finds a man trying to get his cart inside the city but the guards refuse to let the man in.

They claim he has brought in dangerous animals in the past.

The man claims he only brings in harmless exotic creatures for household pets. But the man won't take no for an answer and nobody else is able to get by.

The party finds three guardsmen in front of a cart of valuables, in front of them a man in armor holding only a sword in his hand.

The guards are demanding everyone pay a tax upon entering the town because they get so many adventurers coming in every day causing damage and then just fleeing the town.

The mans only possession is his armor and sword but he refuses to give it up.
