What is it about traditional gaming that brings out the pervert side of people?
Occasional cute players. The more rare they are the more tempting when you come across one.
You're asking a loaded question.
Some people try to use games as an excuse to brandish their fetishes, but they are few and discouraged.

The same reason why the internet makes us assholes. Roleplay allows us to be someone else, and therefore more open about our ideals and our desires. This is why I agree with Plato that you can learn more about someone in an hour of play than a lifetime of conversation.

UNBAN SPLINTER TWIN
The entire Izzet guild relocates (or is forcibly relocated?) to Kaladesh. They're happier there and the local inventors welcome them.
But the rules of the Guildpact mandate the existence of a Red/Blue guild. What sort of guild fills the vacuum?
>>52022570
Potionmakers and alchemists. They're trying to unlock the secrets of the philosopher's stone/splitting the atom.
>>52022570
A proper thieves' guild. The overt, polar opposite of the Dimir. They are a group of high-profile burglars and con-artists who also trade in the goods they pilfer. Screw secrets; fine art and artifacts pay the bills. They are also super-charismatic so they can easily sway the weak-willed. Colorful, jaunty, swaggering rogues the lot of them.

Unless your campaign is set in the late 19th century or later, that would be what a woman who settles down to a comfy life looks like.
Your character gets body-swapped with a random party member.
how does it play out?
>>52020186
I read that as hobbyswap, and imagined instead a spell that simple changed the interests and certain personality traits of the characters, and I think it'd make for a much better episode really.
I mean, maybe the solution to the evil wizard is just to give him the paladin's gardening affection and making sure the paladin keeps his urge to build a death-ray in check.
Probably amusingly.
Reminds me that I've been toying with the idea of a comedy RPG based around the idea of transformation, body swapping and the like. Maid RPG level mechanics and such, mostly a vector for hijinks with a lot of random tables.
My current thought is that characters are represented on index cards, with a core that never changes along with cards for 'Form' and 'Role'. Getting transformed or swapped would be as simple as setting aside your current Form and getting another one, with the rules simple enough that a GM could quite easily come up with stuff on the fly. I'd still want different forms/roles to have a couple of associated mechanics to make it feel different to play, but that's where the design work comes in.

He's kinda a creepy nerd and the rest of the group is a bunch of girls and a shota so yeah

Hilariously enough, my character in this is a vampire too. He splurges on food, vomits it all up when he's full, and continues eating, because this is basically the only chance he'll get to eat people food again.

Your mom.
Somebody explain to me why alignment is "outdated."
It's more that it never should have been. From the very beginning there were better ways to represent morality, backstory, and personality than alignment.
Now all these years later we know that alignment is a poor way to expressing basically anything about a character, yet it sticks around due to tradition.
>>52018951
Because /tg/ are A) Hipsters and B) Fucktards who think alignment is a straitjacket that dictates your every action rather than general disposition.
Alignment should be something that tells you what your character would do if you're unsure about what's best for your story, but it seems everyone can only think in hard rules rather than guidelines these days.
The above does not apply in the case of a cursed item of alignment change, of course.
>>52018951
Because it's a nonsensical, inconsistent mess of a system, that's only maintained out of historical inertia.
One person's Lawful Good is another person's Chaotic Good. One person's Chaotic Neutral is another person's Chaotic Evil. No-one can agree what True Neutral means. And that's not even getting into the regressive, thoughtless bullshit that is always-Evil... anything, really.
Why are players so... Ambitious? Independent?
It seems like they have an aversion to serving someone else or unconditionally working with someone.
Is this common? Why?

"This is mine, that is yours. If you try and step over into mine, you'll get yours!"

Because doing all the work for some chucklefuck while he sits around doing fuckall isn't fun.
Right now my players are part of a mercenary company. The highest ranking member in the party is a Major. He is one of four Majors below the commander and his second.
So he is at best 3 steps from the stop, more likely 4 because two of the other majors are more senior than him. The rest of the party is below him, Lieutenants and Sergeants.
My party is fine with this and they seem to be having a great time. They feel like they have a fair amount of control over the particulars but are willing to follow orders from the commander.

Song of Swords is a a tabletop RPG centered around realistic medieval fightan' with a ludicrous variety of weapons and fighting styles, centered around a dice pool system. It's currently in beta, and can be used for both fantasy and historical games. Kickstarter is happening NOW we are kicking ass baby!
Call of the Void: Ballad of the Laser Whales is a pulpy sci-fi tabletop RPG about fighting space-nazis and hunting giant whales with harpoons made out of the moon. Its combat system is more modern, based in the early 20th century, but can probably handle combat up to the present day.

Where do you go when you need some magical stuff, or want some objects examined?
Are you a regular customer or do you just follow the mage or adept?

I visit Constantine Aurelius, the eccentric Canadian mage who thinks they are a reincarnated Roman senator. Is permanently annoyed that his home-grown Seattle grapes make shitty wine.
Don't drink his wine. You either wake up wearing a toga with your flaccid dick shoved in a roast pigs head, or you go on a metaplaner trip to randomdiceroll.
I wanted my talismonger to be an Irish lady who's a front for the IRA, funneling money back home. But I wasn't sure if she'd even deal with an elf, or if she wouldn't just send material like foci to the fight instead
>>52014551
>metaplaner trip to randomdiceroll
is that where the dice gods live?
I'll just say it. I'm genuinely hyped about this. Yes, the gathering storm has been far from a masterpiece. Yes, some things have been glossed over when they could have been standalone books (genestealer cults on terra anyone?)
But goddammit, they're actually progressing the fucking plot. They're giving a spark of hope in this grimdark setting. I know that's not everyone's cup of tea, but I PERSONALLY never liked the whole "there's no hope, we're all fucked no matter what" vibe. To know that there's actually a fighting chance, no matter how small, makes me want to read more into 40k. It makes me want to root for the imperium because I know that it's doom isn't carved in stone anymore.
(yes, I am a imperiumfag)

I run multiple games in the same setting for two regular players. The antagonist uses the names of each player's characters interchangeably.
I just try to do whatever I can to imply that he sees the player behind the character, not the character.

>GM: Arch
Starting with the stuff I finished writing out after the last thread (>>51955496) hit autosage.
-Your character has 3 Nature scores, and each has a linked Derangment score.
--Bestial is linked to Bloodlust.
--Mundane is linked to Obsession.
--Cosmic is linked to Mania.
-Starting Nature scores would be, oh, 3, 2, and 1 (you choose which is which), with the linked Derangement for your strongest Nature starting at 1 while the others start at 0.
-The sum of all your Nature scores is your Mettle. The sum of all your Derangement scores is your Madness.
--Your Mettle can't go above 12; at that point, you must decrease one of your Nature scores to increase another.
--When your Madness goes up, choose a derangement that's less than its linked Nature score and increase it by 1.
--If your Madness exceeds your Mettle, then your character has lost control and by extension so have you. The GM can now decide their actions, and is free to declare that they've gone past the point of no return.
-Any time your Nature score adds to the number of dice you can roll, you can choose not use some or all of those dice. This is because they can come with a potential drawback- any nature die result that fails to exceed the linked Derangement score grants a point of Frenzy.
--Example: Say a hunter has 4 Bestial, 2 Bloodlust, and 3 Stalk. They get 3 regular dice and up to 4 nature dice when rolling to sneak up on a target. Any nature die rolls (including rerolls when you get a 10) that come up as 2 or less give them a point of Frenzy.
-Frenzy points denote the level of strain being placed upon the fraying nerves of your character's mind. If your total Frenzy points reach a threshold of (5*(current Madness+1)), reset them to 0 and increase one of your Derangement scores by 1. You can't select a Derangement whose score already meets or exceeds that of the linked Nature.
Something that would happen on a fairly regular basis is that characters would encounter Lures- haven't worked out exactly how they'd crop up, but I'm thinking both GM and the character's player should have the option to declare that something is a Lure to the PC(s).
Bestial Lures: Chances for carnage and bloodshed. Unaware prey with their back to you.
Mundane Lures: Chance for a moment's respite in a place of safety, or decent conversation with sane people. A really sick trick weapon.
Cosmic Lures: Chances to study strange paranormal phenomena, to become closer to higher powers or learn their secrets.
When your PC faces a Lure, they can choose to Resist it. Make an opposed check, rolling your other 2 Nature scores against a dice pool equal to your relevant Attribute + Madness scores.
-If they indulge the Lure or fail to resist it, the PC gains a point of Fervor (see below) and must pursue that Lure as best they're able for at least the current scene.
-Resisting a Lure earns XP equal to the size of the lure's die pool (or proportional to that, anyway)
Fervor is a consumable resource, more like action points than anything. Once per scene, you can spend a point of Fervor and choose a Derangement; for the rest of the scene, you add that Derangement to the effective value of its linked Nature.
The Fervor state grants an additional benefit in combat scenes: Each time you get a Stamina die result that doesn't exceed the chosen Derangement, you may immediately return that die to the Stamina pool. However, at the end of any turn where you attacked something, the Fervor state ends unless you A: regained at least 2 Stamina while making attack rolls or B: spend another point of Fervor to keep the state going.
bump for interest
>>52006772
I'm confused, how does the mundane lure work with the other two? I'd think ignoring a moment of respite to pursue the quest sounds far more like obsession than giving in.
Still waiting to see more. No name, but know that I'm here. I'm waiting.Just finished my first Bloodborne playthrough today, so I'm hyped as fuck for anything to do with it.
