I am listening to a song by Katy Perry, a leading pop artist in the US, and it says:

"Last Friday night,
Yeah we played tabletop,
And we took too many shots,
I think we kissed, but I forgot"

And it talks about how cool was her Friday Night, and one of the cool crazy activities is tabletop. I knew were somehow cool now guys, tabletop is no the "nerdy geek" thing of the past. Pretty weird how thigns change around in a couple of years.

ITT: Your characters, general character art, and flash development of characters.

>Your characters
are your characters

>General character art
may be fantasy or sci fi or realistic or whatever other nonsense you'd like to post

>Flash development of characters
can be provided without accompanying pictures or can be based on pictures previously posted. Delve as deep as you want into character design and backstory as you'd like.

Weapons, armor, artifacts and their lore are welcome as well. This is all an exercise in creativity. Do what feels right for you.

Here's my Elf
but the Sprite is a Heavy Recolor off of the over-world sprite of "Kazin" the elf from Shining force II

He has 2 form, Drow and High elf.
Born as a High elf, he only remembers being a Drow.
As he takes up adventuring his connection to Lloth (the spider goddess/queen) begins to fade, along with her curse.
He begins regaining memories of childhood, and has visions of his home town burning to the ground, as he is carried away on the back of a large spider. (This he learns quite slowly however, over a course of many months out of the spider-queens grasp.

The curse can never be lifted fully, but eventually he does regain the ability to be high elf, sometimes...

here's a Photoshop painted version of my Mini

I'm pretty bored of tolkien fantasy and was looking for a rules light or rules medium system with a different tone. Sword and Sorcery came to mind, how is Barbarians of Lemuria?

Darker fantasy is also appealing. My group likes CoC, so a mix of fantasy and cosmic horrors would be nice. I don't know how well those games pan out into campaigns though.

Runequest 6/the generic using the same system is d100/BRP based like Call of cthulu and does Swords and sorcery very well (you only have to adjust the magic, making it more scarce). BRP or GURPS too, I prefer BRP because it's very easy to improvise anything on the fly and even the more dense player can learn it with a few examples/games (at least the basics).

I want to run a game set in the 1950's. The players will be average working men who get tied up in a Mafia conflict and have to do whatever it takes to protect their families and lives.
What is a good system? What kinds of things should I consider and keep in mind about the American life in the 1950's?

delinquency wasn't actually as bad as most people think it was, about 90% of all guys over twenty five-ish were probably soldiers in ww2, most of america has a decent education about war due to this, and disposable income was getting higher and higher.

Smoking and drinking. Lots of it, and whenever.

Rural america was dying out but it was still there. In some places life was similar to the 1800s.

Pre-sexual revolution morals.

A relatively casual outlook on third world war (compared to, say, the 80s).

Racism was as common as you'd execpt, but most of all everyone thought some cultures WERE better than others alright. (applies evn to the past of their own country to an extent)

Tried it out. Neat idea, but to quite frank it doesn't make for a fun game, at least imo and I don't think the core concept can carry a full game by itself. These sorts of puzzles are the ones I try to dodge in games because 95% of the time I get to the point of just not giving a fuck and trying to brute force it.

I've been listening to way too much or maybe not enough filk recently, and it's got me inspired to run a slice of life sci-fi game. Any suggestions on how to do it? Probably Traveller or ____GURPS__ as a system, I'm more concerned about plots and events for a roving ship crew.

Be part of a maintenence crew going to check on the colonist on a planet that is being terraformed.

It could be comfy in that you describe some of the landscape but things could turn hairy thanks to the environment rather than having a monster going about.

Or, taking the same idea you could be moving about inside of a giant mega city trying to deliever a package.

Trolls (from 3 Billy Goats Gruff)
Ogres (from Puss in Boots)
Dragons (from The Two Brothers)

I kinda want to do this, except with a more pic-related vibe. Not so much using straight fairy/folk tales, but run as one.

I want to get into a tcg. Which do you suggest? Is online viable? I would prefer to avoid dealing with the asscrack crew.

Magic the Gathering has Cockatrice and a few other free clients. The official one is balls and might get replaced soon.
Yu-Gi-Oh has a free online client and got an official one not too long ago.
Pokémon has an official client that's well supported and probably a few free ones somewhere.

That's the big three. Official ones always means a certain amount of "Either pay or play a stupid amount of time to win".
Disregard Hearthstone, it's a complete shitfest and everyone playing it hates it.
>>
>>51987340
As far as paper goes, you should pick one that you'll have people to play with. Getting into a card game with nobody to play with defeats the entire purpose. Check out your local game shop and see what's being played before buying any physical cards.

Online is definitely viable. Magic The Gathering Online has been around for over a decade and it's only getting better (though it's horribly dated by today's standards). It's only barrier is the entry cost, a flat $10 sign up fee and then more money for whatever kind of deck you want to build.

Hearthstone is free to play with daily quests that reward in-game money to buy booster packs (5 card boosters are $2.99) and has the best UI you'll see out of them all, it's smooth and slick and easy to play but it's metagame is fucking miserable right now.

Shadowverse is another free one and it's popular among weebs but it's longevity is questionable and it's aesthetic doesn't appeal to me personally.

Yugioh has a smartphone app game that's not so bad or so I've heard.
Pokemon Online has the neat gimmick of letting you redeem paper cards online, otherwise you play for cards like Hearthstone.

Also Magic has a few unofficial, third party clients floating around that let you play online entirely for free like Xmage and Cockatrice that are pretty neato. Xmage is a lot like Magic Online and Cockatrice is entirely manual, so you really need to know the people you're playing with or expect cheating to occur.

what does the movement speed in this system mean? i looked up the average mile time for people ( 8 minutes ) and divided 5280 feet by that so my best guess is that they mean per second rather than feet you can move in a DnD 6 second turn.

>so my best guess is that they mean per second rather than feet you can move in a DnD 6 second turn.
You're both right and wrong. It depends a bit on which edition you're playing, but that notation looks like the one used in AD&D, which is in inches on the tabletop (for using with miniatures). One inch equals 10 feet in the dungeon. So 12" means 120' movement per round. But AD&D has 1 minute rounds, even though most people play as if they were the (now) more common 6 or 10 second rounds. I forget if there are rules for increasing movement when you run, but going 2 feet per second isn't very impressive. But AD&D assumes you're doing all sorts of unspoken shit during this time (something that many people find stupid).

Basic D&D expresses movement a bit differently, but uses the same overall scheme. Instead of 12" of movement, it just outright says 120'. That's movement over a noncombat turn though, and covers slower, dungeon progress over a longer period of time. In a combat round of 10 seconds, it's also the maximum distance you can run. Normal combat movement (when not running) is only 1/3 of that. You'll notice that you're moving a lot faster here than in AD&D.

Anyway, 120' / 10 seconds = 12' per second, which matches your assumptions. So your interpretation is a valid one, at least for folks who are running.

How do you tell a proper story when everyone is engaged in a tug of war to tell the story they want to tell?

Getting rid of the game master seems like the biggest and most disgusting change you can do to the structure of a tabletop RPG.

Get swept up in all the crazy shit happening in the club. All of the vampires bringing their unwitting victims and draining them in the strobe lights, drugs being passed around, bodies and sweat every where (and then blood as well). Depending on the type of campaign you're running, you might kill off one of the PC's in a haze of flashing lights and misted blood, or turn PC's to vampires, or have them go Blade-mode and start fucking shit up. I'm considering them to be the types of vampires in universes like Blade and Queen of the Damned because of the OP image. In which case they need to be seductive and charming, but incredibly dangerous and terrifying once they take their social masks off.
>>
>>51980742
> I'm considering them to be the types of vampires in universes like Blade and Queen of the Damned because of the OP image.
You're almost not wrong. The vampires are a little closer towards old World of Darkness, so a little less marginal image and more subtlety, but generally you got the idea.

Actually, I wanna try and play the night club two lanes. In my mind, it is

A) an open feeding ground for Kindred. The club isn't invite only, so people from the street can and do get in, but "patrons" have exclusive access to private rooms upstairs, where they can take their night's pick and feed.

B) a ghoul breeding ground. The club has a number of employees who distribute, vampire blood as drugs, which, while pretty fucking diluted, still feels empowering and addictive as hell.

The things I have in mind so far are

>If PC's try to actually muck about on the floor, get them really close to being dominated and fed on, play up the atmosphere, and then purposefully fail the contest on PCs resistance roll as he scrapes away.

>Get one of the PCs high on vitae and struggling with abstinence afterwards.

>Have the PCs witness a conflict between a patron and a recruiter over a victim.

>If PC's get really lucky, get them walk in on a feeding Kindred

How does that sound?
