What's the most you've seen a game get derailed and how has the GM reacted to it?
>>52197354
First, we found out who the main antagonist is. Then, we accidentally found his lair. We did both much, much earlier than DM thought we would - we didn't have any magic items for fighting him, any allies with us AND we were severely underleveled.
We all died.
>>52197354
we derailed it so hard we never even got to start the actual module that the Dm intended to use.
>>52197354
We were playing with mixed team - three of usual guys, including me, and two randoms picked from ad. Turns out they were so fucking inept they've started extorting the NPC handling us the quest and it quickly turned into a situation when they've dragged rest of the party into a massive combat with entire monastery and the service village around it. All because the NPC didn't gave them few coins more.
It was somewhere around 7th round of combat when the GM, already tired and clearly pissed, get up, went to the kitchen, made himself a vodka tonic, dashed it and then made himself another, going for a smoke. He didn't said a word until he had 3rd drink.
It was all an introductionary quest, where we were simply supposed to find bandits stealing grain from the local granary and deal with them one way or another, and only from there get to the real meat and bones of the campaign. Instead, we didn't even left the very first location the game started in.

So you be sayin'
I'm running a Trail of Cthulhu campaign and am looking for good ideas to include. The world is a dieselpunk version of our own in the year 1937.
The investigators are a crack squad employed by the FBI to fight nazi shenanigans (though the actual goal is to claim all their superscience and paranormal stuff for the good old US). Throughout the three sessions so far they have been to Mexico where they tracked ahnenerbe and fought NKVD agents, sealed a shoggoth in an ancient city in Greenland and witnessed the nazis summon a stone giant in Iceland. Now they're on their way to Germany.
It's more of an action packed "anything goes" game than the classic Lovecraftian tales, so crazy ideas are welcome.
>>52197154
There's the Third German Antarctic Expedition in 38? At the Mountains of Madness, now with 100% more Nazis.
>>52197349
Seconding this
>>52197349
I ran with something pretty close to AtMoM during the Greenland section, with added Gnophkeh encounters.
I should probably mention that I was thinking of making one investigator a double agent for the nazis, but throughout the three sessions pretty much everyone came up with a bunch of ulterior motives for why they're out there. Got a Vatican agent, a jew posing as a nazi double agent etc. So there's a lot of material to work with.
What would you call a bard sub-class/specialization that specializes in defensive magics through music?
Picture unrelated.
A skald.
>>52197150
A Barding Bard.
>>52197170
Skald to me sounds more like a front line specialization.
So far I have
Bard -> Warlord -> Skald
-> ???
-> Minstrel -> ??? (defensive)
-> Wardrummer (Offensive)
With Warlord focusing on fighting and buffing and Minstrel being about buffing/debuffing.

Do you have any decks that are meant to go balls-out FAST?

>Do you have any decks that are meant to go balls-out FAST?
I always consider this, but given my playgroup/meta it would be a bad idea. I'm already the dude to beat, I'd rather have fun than fire off super quick.Especially since the playgroup is all family. They're pretty mature about games not bruising their feelings, but ig I went for real tear-drinking "you all die" fast decks we probably wouldn't play Magic anymore.
>Do you have any decks that are meant to go balls-out FAST?
What ways are there in UR to protect my commander and maybe give it haste that don't give it shroud?Niv-Mizzet Firemind does not mind holding a Basilisk Collar so shroud stuff like Clout of Dominus is usually out because I want to be able to play protection ASAP and sometimes I don't see the deathtouch equipment early
I have
Lightning Greaves
Swiftfoot Boots
Darksteel Plate
artifact tutors to get the above equipment
a fair amount of cantrips, cycling and library manipulation bcuz blue
What are some OP things you thought of that your GM has allowed?
>>52196839
Basically what you posted in the OP, but it was a portal to the bottom of the Mariana Trench.
We also used another portal to redirect the entirely of Death Valley's sunlight into another country (where it was currently night) to kill about 60+ Vampires.
We created IEDs filled to the brim with shards of meteoric Iron to kill a Fae God.
Then we also hunted down a target of a Werewolf pack, and GPS tagged him, so that when they dragged him back to their base, we had a location to target.

I ordered some mantic undead. These looked neat so I got em. Do you think if I made em hover a bit higher and put them on cavalry bases they would work as hex wraiths?
Alternatively put two on a cavalry base.
Other than cairne wraith what could they be?
>>52196837
I find the lack of trihorns disgusting
>>52196878
>Do you think if I made em hover a bit higher and put them on cavalry bases they would work as hex wraiths?
Yeah. As they are they are too small for proxying a cavalry model, but if you play with the bases it should go well.
What is the most garbage fantasy ever written and why is it Christopher Tortellini's Eragon?

Is there a fucking apostrophe in the word witch? What the literal fuck?
Im reworking my homebrew setting (based on 1800's New-france/canada/quebec) And each race is sort of redone but I have no inspiration for the elves especially the high-elves. The normal wood elves I kinda like the idea of basing them off nomadic indians but other than that...im out of ideas.
>>52196275
start with the basics, what is the single trait of elves you find the most interesting?
Then think of interesting takes on that traits you've seen in other stories. That should help you assign a bunch of other relevant traits to them.
>>52196467
Thats the problem i have never found elves to be that interesting to me...theyre just....there.
>>52196493
then why include them?
What has been the most interesting take on vampires that you have ever seen or read about?
In the Artesia series, by Mark Smylie, there are warlords referred to as the Isliklidae, said to be the immortal sons of the divine kings or something.
We don't get to hear much of their details (and probably never will) but they appear to be immortal, and get carried around in blood-filled cauldrons, so sounds like vampires to me.
>>52196250
I mean, I think the normal concept has been dealt with very well in books like Dracula.
But I think an interesting take on non-traditional vampires, is probably Fallen London's royal family.
While they are not technically vampires, they do fit most of the stereotypes.
They're mysterious aristocratic dark figures, who bargained with powers beyond their control and gained terrible power, and suffered a terrible curse as a result.
Basically, they're monsters. All of them.Inhuman and incomprehensible gibbering monsters, who consume human flesh as morsels, and drag off carcasses for snacks later.
But social convention, seclusion, and only being perceived through glamour makes them appear human to most.
Everyone hates the royal family, they are traitors and monsters.
But they're the royal family.

Hey I'm looking for some tribal/primitive lizard people. Shamans warriors ect.
I'm looking for a specific image I've seen before. A guy in a green mask, think it was of a snake, with a long rifle. He's in what looks like a desert.
I'd be super appreciative if anyone had it lying around.
