Best Friends with the human party face. Used a flail that was just a chain hammered into the neck of a (very disappointed looking) statue's head. Drank and smoked constantly. Cheated. Ate the soap in the dungeon we were locked in. Ate a few flavors of enemies.

That was a good game.

The writers have a surprising amount of pretentious bullshit for people so bad at the natural sciences or basic math, but the game itself is fun in a goofy way.

I'm still amazed that there are no PDFs of the Zealot's Guides books 5-7 and Hacklopedia II floating around, how the hell has HackMaster managed to stay under the radar of file sharing communities?

Yes. All social, perception, and investigation based actions in a game should be solved through roleplaying and GM fiat.

Charisma as a stat remains as a source of willpower and charm to keep your hirelings in line, it does not give you a magic button to roll and tell the king to do something as though under mind control. You must choose your character's words and actions carefully.

No, they a perfectly fine system to represent the character's skill in social activities, removing player metagaming. The low charisma character who has not invested in any social skills should not be able to woo the high king's daughter with an eloquent speech as if performed by a great orator.

Well, in our setting we had a runner that ended up retiring and becoming a huge success over in the CAS. She came back at one point five years later to help out on one more job as a personal favor to my character, since he was the one that helped give her money to jump-start her career back in the day.

It went terrible. She got shot to dying, our mage got geeked and we had to flee the country to avoid the wrath of Shiawase after we accidentally broke the merchandise we were supposed to deliver to them. But she at least lived.

We're not good at this at all.

To prevent sieges from draining the supplies, there should be underground passages and a source of water for the mountain hold. The main path to the forts should go up in a spiral to maximize the time wasted for the invading army.
