why can't space marines have girlfriends or boyfriends?
Why can't /tg/ get its shit together and put an end to these dark times controlling the board
>>52235986
Because boyfriends would be gay and girlfriends can't handle their gene seed
>>52235986
5/10 Got me to respond
An answer is that there is negative expected value associated with it. And when you consider how the concept of the imperium is to as minimally brutal and repressive as necessary so that humanity doesn't die, you must minimize unnecessary negative value.
How often do your characters get satisfying deaths and endings?
>>52235968
Rarely.
I try my hardest to get my characters killed in the most boring ways possible just so we don't have to go through a bunch of bullshit "sad" dialogue.
>>52235991
imo maul got a pretty satisfying ending.
>killed by the same move he did on qui-gon
>short and sweet
>few last words
>>52236135
I just wanted him to injure Obi-Wan and get killed by Uncle Owen.

That coulda been a cool feature for the Awakened, that you no longer require somatic components for your disciplines.
I'm considering running a game "based" (brutally ripped and plagarized) on Sunless Sea. Right down to characters having monikers instead of names - because you don't want any-thing getting your name between their teeth.
What system would you use? I thought vaguely about FATE, since that seems narrative and popular lately. It'll have to be something fairly fluid to account for all the curious things that happens in the 'Neath.
For those who don't know, Sunless Sea is based in the world of Fallen London. Where London fell, both metaphysically and literally, and now lays below the earth's crust alongside five other ancient cities. It's just a train ride away from literal Hell, and demons do a brisk trade.
Think of it like a spot before the underworld of Greek myth. You can't die there - not easily. You get to enjoy all the benefits of being immortal without all the mercies of being Mortal. For example, people don't stop aging - they just don't die of it. Eventually it's considered rude not to ship your desiccated, bandage wrapped husk off to a 'Tomb Colony' where you can rot without bothering the neighbors. And murder is a friendly game between strangers, so long as you've someone who can stitch up your agonizing wounds later. Only those who go to Zee truly die - and even then, there's ways back. Although you may come back... wrong. Memories are just as easy to sell as goods, where sunlight is warm, delightful, addicting - and like any narcotic, evenutally deadly. Best to avoid the trade routes back to the surface.
So, Greek Underworld mixed with a bit of Mythos, and a dash of stiff upper lip.
What system?

To record the Republic's events - it's like trying to sing wax or believe water. You do what you can. The third paragraph buds eyes. The date is fundamentally wrong. The full-stops bite.

Title tells all. I'll start.
>the character is a conman, the idea is that he proclaims himself as an engineering genius, while having subpar intelligence substituted by charisma
>say a merchant caravaneer broke his wagon's axle
>"well sir, it looks like you miscombobulated your wagon's frontal rotating staff. i can fix it easy, but i'd like payment up-front - AND for supplies."
>uses the opportunity of buying supplies from a nearby town to slip away
>later reunites with party and splits the scammed money with them so they don't turn him into the guard
>the paladin inevitable paladin will be impossible to trick, let alone get on board
>maybe do it in a party with no paladin or something
You guys got anything similar?
>>52234900
I've always wanted to do something like a Luchador that's a monk/paladin multiclass or something along those lines, but never got to.
Also, some kind of Goblin tinkerer or just a general inventor, but not someone who goes "hurr durr I make a shotgun in fantasy land." I mean someone who just makes magical items as their main purpose, and is really just there to buff their teammates and deal with knowledge stuff. Doesn't have to be a combat caster.
Two others that I don't think people will ever let me play: Bear Monk, Owlbear Wizard.
I threw together some pregens for a con game. One of them I've been desperately wanting to run in a pulp or superhero game.
The base concept was a young and healthy Stephen Hawking with a gun. The character uses their advanced knowledge of mathematics and physics to shoot people.
>>52235058
Those all sound like shitty characters, either ridiculous meme status or some just some shitty trope that's been done to death.
I mean seriously, why don't you just play a character from your favorite anime or another half-orc barbarian, if that's the sort of characters you want to play.
So, this just happened.
>Playing a 2-shot adventure.
>Trying to rush to get some ritual components together to summon an angelic force to defend a certain city before their defenses are overwhelmed by the force of Evil, demons and the like.
>Our characters had IC ties to the city, because we do actually like to roleplay that sort of stuff, even in short fluff adventures.
>Anyway, we screw up and lose, no angels summoned, city falls.
>GM treats us to the "Bad ending" where we hear about the sack.
>It includes one player hearing about how his character's wife is raped by a zombie under the control of an evil necromancer, because that's apparently how he gets his jollies.
>>52234786
That's a bit fucked but not quite to That GM levels. Did you tell him to chill out with that shit at all?
>>52234807
Oh yes. Which got a "Well, you lost. You're supposed to get a shitty ending."
>>52234909
"We're here to have fun, dude. Chill out with that shit, it's weird."
Seriously, I get that most folks don't like stirring up interpersonal conflict but trust me when I say it's better to just nip that shit in the bud as soon as you can in a reasonable manner. If the dude's acting like a dick then tell him, he's probably not gonna figure it out himself.
Pathfinder General /pfg/
Tell us of those classes and archetypes that /pfg/ always ignores, yet are surprisingly strong. Like psionics' tactician for boosting the whole party's AC to extreme amounts, the initiating stalker (vigilante) as a great skill monkey and sneak attacking striker, or the Spiritualism hedgewitch with sphere-specific drawbacks and access to nearly every talent on demand.

I have to wonder, how can sneks possible serve as party members? They can't carry loot, they can't fight, they can't cast spells except as still spells. So why do so many parties have them as members?
>>52233045
They can crawl into small areas, detect magic with boops, and have very low food requirements.
I don't know what OP's on about, but somebody post that Legion of Superheroes snake with the robotic arms!

>bards have their scrotums swell up until they can't move and a famine stricken family with copious diseases that proceeds to painfully construct a small hovel underneath the scrotum and beg for money from passerbys so no one ever looks at the bard and his ginormous scrotum ever again while fleas and ticks swell huge feasting on his scrotal blood and makes it itchy but he's too wracked with pain to ever move and the scrotum is too huge for him to reach the itching spots and even if he does manage to try the poor family angrily stops him from entering their abode to scratch himself.
Do online games with strangers ever last longer than 0 to 9 sessions?
>>52231742
>9 session game
Shit, my campaigns always resolve within 5-8 sessions.
>>52231742
I ran a game in 2015 that ran for 20+ sessions. Group broke up due to IRL like one session before we wrapped up and were going to start a new campaign in a new system. Haven't had the heart to build a new group since then.
>>52231742
Going on 5 years, with six campaigns, with a group from /tg/.
How could a good serpent god look like?
>>52231524
Well, snakes have been symbols of wisdom, rebirth, immortality, and healing in a number of cultures all over the world. The best example would be Asclepius, the Greek god of healing. He isn't a snake himself, but he uses magic snakes to heal people and his snake entwined staff is still the symbol for doctors the world over.
>>52231524
A serpent.

ITT: we come up with soft comfy and cute ideas for our campaigns
>The day is way too hot, and you're short on cash, find ways to cool yourself off
>A PC got a sudden case of fever and should stay in the base for a while, other PC's take care of him/her
>There's rumours of a beatiful aurora appearing soon, but nobody knows when, but it'll be clearly visible even in the day, so you'll have to wait till it appears soon enough
>Rain is hitting the house and there's nothing really important to do, but recurring NPC's keep appearing saying that they were nearby and wanted to say hello while the rain subsides
>>52231170
>The local ruins are inhabited by small monsters that are peaceful, and would rather trade with the party for whatever relic they need instead of fight about it. A miniature town for small creatures can be explored and running small errands for them can be sufficient trade, as the monsters don't value gold or weapons.
>A young version of a large, powerful monster has lost its way, and the party must find a way to bring it back to its family.
>The party is in a normal tavern or shop, but are somehow magically shrunk to the size of mice. They have to find a way to cure themselves.
>There's a festival going on today, the party can engage in various contests to win small prizes and gather rumors.
>>52231170
>campaign taking place entirely in a comfy house in the Japanese countryside
>players are all 10 year old girls
>campaign is a cute girls doing cute things anime
>final session is the towns summer festival
This would honestly be cute af.
