Doing accents/voices for your characters, too much effort and difficult to maintain, or worthwhile?
Current campaign ending soon and my next character is a Svirfneblin Awakened Mystic Urchin, and i was thinking of trying to go for a Durance-esquePillars of Eternitymanner of speaking, including the cryptic bullshit.
>>52286497
Well you see, now they can use Intelligence for everything. Can't have WIZARDS needing wisdom, now can we?
>>52286510
Anon, as having played a War Cleric for a year and a half, i can tell you that, while Spirit Guardians is great, it pales in terms of damage output to comparably leveled wizard options.
>>52286536
>it pales in terms of damage output to comparably leveled wizard options.
Okay. The comparative level is 3.
I'm not remotely speculating on wizard vs cleric performance past level 6, mind, but if wizards become great damage guys compared to clerics, it sure as hell isn't in the level 1-6 region.
How would you guys build a dex pally
I was going to go SnB, dueling and shield master. I know PAM pally is best damage wise but we really need a tanky fuck.
Probably was going to do Devotion or Vengeance.
I'll be level 5, also I have my choice of two uncommon magic items, I was prob going to do a cloak of protection and a +1 sword or mithril splintmail
Brett, skip this thread.
So I am getting ready to run an Avatar TLA/LOK game set in the years right before Aang died and carrying through Korra. I'm planning on it being a divergent timeline game.
The players are going to start likely in Republic City unless there is a weighed bender type in the party which might result in the group of four people starting in the group majorities kingdom.
The system is a D20 homebrew that uses stats and skills, but nothing else. Its a system that I'm hoping will help capture the feel of bending and the setting.
What I'm here for is any neat alt timeline ideas, things you didn't like about the show, ect? I had a few thoughts about the initial setting, while I'll go into more detail about in the morning. Bit plot points will involve large tension between the fire and earth kingdoms. Civil war, bandits, and pirates in the earth kingdom. Water nation raids on islands the fire nation seized but never relinquished, and general world tension. It will likely also involve large timeskips and the order of the white lotus in addition to a couple shadow organizations I've fiddled around with.
Thoughts, ideas, opinions?
>>52286287
>Brett, skip this thread.
YOU CANT TELL ME WHAT TO DO
>>52286287
I felt that the show was trying (but failing) to explore the ideas of different forms of government systems.
Republic city is a democracy. Equalists were using communist imagery. Unalok was trying for a traditional tribal/theocracy thing. Red Lotus are extreme anarchists. The Earth Kingdom was a Monarchy. And then there's the Fascists from last season.
It'd have been very interesting to see these groups interact with each other, see how they shape the beliefs of the characters on the show and how Republic City itself ends up being shaped by their ideals.
Not especially useful for your timeline, but it's a thought.
>>52286287
Personally I'm kind of interested in the gangs. They were kind of skipped over, and could've had a bigger part. Would work especially well with probending, sporting corruption and what not, but you could have it be a solely gang experience.
Gunpowder and cannons completely rendered castles and other high-wall fortifications useless. In a setting which powerful and destructive spells are resonably available (a.k.a every feudal lord is guarantee to have a wizard in his retinue,) how would siege warfare become?
>>52286245
>Gunpowder and cannons completely rendered castles and other high-wall fortifications useless.
This is worse than the "guns killed plate" meme.
>>52286245
>Gunpowder and cannons overcame curtain walls so easily and rapidly that they eventually were no longer worth the investment on fortifications located on flat land that were supposed to restrict the movements of cutting-edge armies
fixed.
For the rest, it depends on what sort of magic we're talking about. A wizard who can move earth will have a field day in Europe as walls generally didn't have foundations worth shit to begin with.
>>52286245
>every feudal lord is guarantee to have a wizard in his retinue
This is the situation I'd like to question further. Why is the wizard(who has access to powerful and destructive spells) not considered the one in charge with the 'feudal lord' simply being the one that oversees the day to day stuff?
What are your character's hobbies /tg/? What does s/he like to do when they are not out and about murderhoboing?
My latest half-orc barbarian spends his free time arm-wrestling other men, playing his drums in taverns, drinking until he gets a little tipsy -usually the alchol is not enough to get him drunk- and visiting the best brothels in town.
The party doesn't share his hobbies in the least, sadly.
>>52286178
For GMs, what're the hobbies of your favourite NPC?Grimderp villains need not apply
>>52286178
I swear like 9/10 of the characters I make are interested in cooking.Whether or not they're actually good at it.
>>52286178
He likes to people watch. He'll take some food out to the park or just hang out in a bar and just chat or sit by himself and watch life go by.
He's a uniformed member of a well-liked religious order so people will often approach him for advice or help, as well.
One thing that is a bit more classically hobby-ish is that before he took orders he spent some time working in a roadside carnival as a juggler and sleight-of-hand magician and now knows a few routines that have a religious "message" to them, including a "cursed" coin that constantly re-appears on or around a particular spectator when it isn't "pinned" by a holy symbol (a great time to pass notes or small items) and a trick where a plain napkin slowly becomes covered in catechistic symbols and then given away (which is also great for passing things on.)

POST 'EM
>>52285965
i still carry around my decks in a shitty scars of mirrodin fatpack box held together with duct tape and free political bumper stickers i stole from the college cafe
I double sleeved a deck and will never do it again. 100 single sleeved is perfect for shuffling and double just makes it clumsy.
I use pic related for my Squee deck because it's the deck with all my money cards. The rest just go into one of those deckbuilder's toolbox boxes. The fat packs are fucking awful for deck storage. The top always catches on shit.
I don't really know any other place to ask, so I have a question about a specific kit in AD&D2E.
One of the members of my group is playing a class called "Amazon Huntress" this class apparently gets full warrior THAC0, rogue skills D8 hit die and levels at rogue speed.
Frankly this seems horrifically broken and sounds a little too good to be true.
Is this a real class? Or just something the player has made up?
>>52285183
>Martial class
>Broken
Pftahahah
>>52285183
There's an Amazon kit in the Complete Fighter's Handbook but it has none of those things you mentioned
If the player can't front up with an actual book/pdf and point to the rules in question, then you should tell them to fuck off
>>52285217
I've pushed the GM on it and he says it's real. But I also know he's the type of guy to lie about it and allow something retarded broken in because he doesn't know what balance is.
We were specifically playing AD&D to mitigate the Min/Maxing so it's a little frustrating when you make a character that's all fluff and someone makes one that fills 2 roles effortlessly.
sup /tg/ I'm planning on running a one or two shot for my group where they play as law enforcement in a cyberpunk setting somewhat based on pic related but with less funding. any plot hook ideas?
>>52284397
Ideas will mostly depend on what their speciality is. I find that having the PCs being working for a local PD could be interesting. They would always have the problem of having to deal with few available resources, corrupt officials, dirty cops, street gangs, corporate spec-ops, cybercriminals, psycho killers, internal affairs (if they are dirty or they pissed off a corporation...), etc.
>>52284397
Tons. But I'm at work so I'll bump for now and answer later.
>>52284397
>A hacker group is carrying out acts of sabotage and high profile hacks including corporate advertising and mass-hacks against crowds of people. The twist is that they're only doing it to try and sabotage the efforts of a nascent seed AI trying to grow by networking a bunch of cyberbrains together into a massive distributed cluster.
What's your favorite primer, /tg/?
>>52284375
vallejo primer applied via airbrush.
Anything else is pleb tier.
>>52284422
Vallejo Surface Primer is shit. If you want to flaunt your airbrush then use Stynylrez. Vallejo is only good for display pieces.

Am I the only one that thinks that the Vow of Chains is REALLY good for what it makes you give up, mechanically speaking? Just drop your attacks by a measly 1 to-hit and you get a ki every 3 levels? Sign me up, that's freaking awesome.
>>52283522
>where did their hopes and dreams go
They never left.
Is it possible to play a LN character without being autistic about laws?
I made a Grippli druid LN because I figured I could just adhere to Grippli cultural norms and have a vague notion of natural balance.
im starting to think /r/yoyhammer is a joke.
>want 40k for cheap?
yes
>dont want to pay gamesjewshop jack ass prices?
yes
>want knock offs not real model?
okay

still okay
>no way to contact recasters without playing detective on google.

i dont get how a recaster can cast a model, look at it missing a leg/hand. and toss it in the bag and ships it to you. the lack of consideration is ridiculous.
not saying it should be 10/10 full detail but at least make/send a complete model not a piece of shit. people really paying for that?
>>52283434
>i dont get how a recaster can cast a model, look at it missing a leg/hand. and toss it in the bag and ships it to you. the lack of consideration is ridiculous.
They're Chinese. That's kinda what they do.
>>52283509
hell im all on board for getting knock off 40k. knowing it will look 5/10.
im not a huge painter/model hobbies so all i do is spray it black and call it a day. i know for a fact thats gonna cover the horrid recasting. i had a recasted tau model once and u wouldnt be able to tell it was recasted unless u stared at it.
but sheeeiittt..... how chinese home boy gonna throw in a bag something they know is gonna go straight into the trash bc its missing arms/legs
Welcome to doing business with the Chinese, anon.
What is the most bullshit/powergamey character that could be created in 5e?
>>52282791
>BBEG
ugh
>>52282791
18th level Moon druid.
Besides that, Halfling Wizard with the Lucky Feat in order to get as many re-rolls as possible.
Or Arakokra Warlock. Flying Eldritch Blaster Caster.
I dunno man, 5e doesn't break much. The halfling wizard just kind of munchkins your d20 roll, and then certain spells can be exploited, but there's nothing too crazy that can be done If you have a competent DM.

Is this the latest version?
Why is Tolkien so fucking genetic? Dude relies so heavily on common fantasy tropes that I'm convinced people only claim to have read him for literary cred.
>elves live in the forest, have an affinity with bows and nature and live long
>dwarves are gruff Scottish miners who wield axes
>"le ancient evul awakinz xD"
>literally a wizard with a pointy hat and robes and a beard
>Generic Mary Sue Male Human Fighter Aragorn who is le best at le everything xD
>dumb typical macguffin plot that is literally "take the thing to the place"
It's so shit and unimaginative. Take better settings like Dragon Age and the Witcher that turn common fantasy tropes on their fucking head and actually deal with real political and social issues and actually portray a gritty realistic fantasy world replete with mature themes instead of "le good guise save le day xD!!!"
>>52282397
>>52282397
>Why is Tolkien so fucking genetic?
This retarded OP is now about fantasy eugenics.

Cool, interesting content edition
Last thread >>52269141
>>52282215
And that should be pretty much all of the content we've been discussing these past few days.
>>52282215
Again with my question from last thread: Is it possible to make a dragon out of human bones/flesh/blood? If so, what can it do other than be really big and intimidating?
Why do some people choose to play less optimal characters for 'roleplay reasons' when you can just refluff the optimal character as whatever you want it to be?
> Mechanically, my character is a variant human fighter with GWM, Sentinel and Polearm Master feats
> But actually it's a halfling rogue with a rapier.
Why are you making threads just to spam /v/ shit? You're almost as bad as the /pol/, jack, jojo, and /d/ fags.
