>I'M NOT LOOKING FOR A SYSTEM<

I'm trying to figure out how to handle a Dark Souls game, set in some alternate cycle of the Linking of the Fire. The plot will probably be a mix of II and III, with the players being Unkindled Ash rising in a new land with the toll of the Bell of Awakening with a few Lords of Cinder, or something like that (I haven't actually played III, but it seems the best set up).

While working out the details of how to start is important, I'm also realizing that the usual Dark Souls set up complicates things, specifically the abundance of junk you accumulate.

I know the first thing I'm doing is making pregen character packages for the players to choose, and weapons and spells will all be found in the world. I'll be using MP instead of spell uses, and the spells will have to be equipped at Bonfires to be used. Weapons and armour will also probably have special traits, to make them less samey.

XP is going to come in the form of Souls, and I'm going to make use of the Soul items as reward that DaSII seemed to do a lot more than the first. Souls will also be used as currency, so upgrading will be a choice between stat boosts or items.

Can I get some suggestions, or things I might not be thinking of?

you have a poise system right? poise was pretty important in balancing for the series.
>>
>>52288724
A few other miscellaneous things:

-- Bonfires will be warp points, healing points, etcetera
-- Unlike in the first game, there'll be a dedicated level up lady; no leveling up whenever
-- There will be a Firelink Shrine area, possibly more a Majula style town of relative safety, where NPCs gather.
-- I'm not using the layout of any of the games, and probably not any bosses
-- I might have Patches in some sidequest
-- While players will effectively be immortal, I'm not going to make them fight through enemies over again if they die, that works much better in a video game.
-- I'm going more Dark Souls I in terms of NPCs: they'll all be friendly and inspiring, even if depressed, and helping fulfill their quests will probably make them go Hollow
-- Hollowing is all about losing your will to live, or having nothing left to keep you from going Hollow. It's sort of a Sanity meter, where dying and finishing things both make you lose it.
>>
>>52288965
DaSIII didn't even have poise.
Also, while I'm not trying to perfectly mimic the actual combat, the system I've been making is all about resource management of Stamina when it comes to combat, with different actions having different Stamina costs, and things like turtling up also costing Stamina to maintain.

>>52288971
-- I'm not sure whether each player will have an Estus of their own, or if it will be shared among them and heal everyone, like it does in DaSI's co-op.
-- Narratively everyone will be in the same "world", but I might still have NPC Phantoms.

Can we get a thread for female character art that isn't sexualized as all hell? Not necessarily looking for ugly women, just ones without boobplate or the ones in the middle of battle with pristine hair and makeup.

Ideally fantasy. If anyone has matching pics with black haired green eyed warrior women that'd be awesome, I need a pic for an NPC in my game.

everytime i gm

I promised I would share a storytime, but then I lost my motivation, and today I felt it would be kinda shitty to go back on my promise. So I'll share the abridged version of it. Anyway,

>before we start, there are two important points I need to mention where we deviated from the MAID system
>we didn't use the random tables, we just collectively made up the characters together with the GM
>and the way we got awarded Favor wasn't only by, well, getting favor from the Master, but also by adhering to our secret motivations - kind of like how the points are acquired in Everyone is John

>it all started with a message from Mother Dearest, like it always does in the Wodehouse novels
>the message told us that our Master, the Ojou-sama, was required to attend a ball, where she would have to mingle with the other nobles in order to find herself a suitable suitor
>in retrospect, it's kind of weird we called the mistress Ojou-sama when literally everyone else used the Western names, but whatever

>so there are four servants, right
>Margaret - a perverted lesbian, whose main motivation was to get into the pants of Ojou-sama - literally every other servant (player) called her a "crazy dyke"
>Sebastian - an apprentice butler, a young boy head over heels in love with Ojou-sama, he was a pretty basic kid - wanted to become a "man worthy of the Mistress's attention" and confess his love to Ojou-sama
>Miss Watson - a shy girl with braided hair and round spectacles - her main motivation was to witness "the blooming love of Ojou-sama" from the sidelines - a classic romantic, a stalker AND A FUCKING YANDERE
>and, finally, Jeeves (my character) - a servant who served this family for almost 30 years, and is honor-bound to Ojou's late father to protect Ojou-sama from the more unpleasant aspects of aristocratic life, currently the head servant of the mansion

>again, we weren't informed of each other's motivations and had to figure them out in-game from our actions
>cont.

>>
>in any case, none of the servants were all too thrilled about the orders, but we couldn't really go against Mother Dearest's wishes, because she technically owns the manor where Ojou-sama and the servants live, even if she got it from her late husband and isn't actually Ojou's mother, but rather a stepmother
>we technically have to attend the ball in two days, and yet it's in our interest to stealthily sabotage the event
>so, the problems start from the very beginning, because Margaret apparently can't keep her lesbo in her pants
>the very first situation me and Miss Watson had to defuse was the crazy dyke breaking into the Ojou's room in hopes of some steamy lesbo sex - because "if she is to be engaged and I can't have her, then I'd rather engage in our forbidden love right now"

>the next two days are not very interesting, it's basically just roleplaying, GM setting the scene, and players competing for Favor, so I won't detail them
>anyway, in two days Mother Dearest arrives in her lavish and pompous carriage
>Sebastian and I run distraction with her, while Margaret and Miss Watson sabotage the carriage she came in, in hopes that if we can't go to the ball, we won't need to do shit
>it almost works too, but they fail some checks and almost get caught in the act, so, unfortunately, Ojou has to attend the ball
>and, guess fucking what, we are drafted to assist in the ball's proceedings
>this_might_be_the_chance_we_were_looking_for.jpg
>when we arrive, I cite being the head servant so I remain with Ojou-sama, while rather unsubtly hinting to other players to fuck shit up

>Margaret is stellar at seducing random nobles right in front of everyone and making them do stupid shit, laughing when they make fools of themselves in front of Ojou-sama and Mother Dearest
>Miss Watson fucks up shit at kitchen, making shit completely inedible even if it looks perfectly fine and mixing up the orders
>Sebastian is doing his best to run distraction and does some really ridiculous shit, like releasing the flock of peacocks someone brought with them into the ballroom
>and I'm accompanying Ojou and Mother Dearest while she unsuccessfully tries to find a suitable suitor, who are all too busy being seduced by Margaret, throwing up from Miss Watson's food or getting shit on by the birds
>at some point, Mother Dearest goes into a fucking tantrum saying that she will find a husband for her stepdaughter in this place, like it or not
>I've_been_waiting_for_this.tiff
>I unleash the most fucking savage bantz I manage upon Mother Dearest, saying that she is a disgrace to the family, that her husband would be ashamed to see her trying to hook up her daughter with these unworthy retards in a horrible place like this etc.
>she tries to disagree, but even she can't deny how fucking horrible the service been in this place and how people behaved like complete retards (thanks to our interference, but she doesn't know that)
>and then Miss Watson appears out of nowhere and proceeds to use the Ultimate Retort, using even more savage insults than I've managed, and unleashing her inner yandere, saying that "Ojou-sama deserves a prince on a white horse, not these god forsaken pigs in human clothing"
>tfw we just publicly shamed our employer and got away with it
>at this point we basically go home immediately, with the danger of our Ojou-sama being engaged to some aristocratic bumfuck safely averted
There is way more to this campaign, like the time we went to France, but this is the gist of how my Jeeves transformed into "I would rather slip into a fucking coma" character.

My favorites were fungus people I made for a Stars Without Number game me and a few friends made once.

>Decentralized fungus creatures who grow from small, nonsapient spore creatures into eventually city and planet sized monsters.
>They technically can't die of old age, so much of the surface of their planet is covered in very, very old people having a nap.
>They eat everything. Everything. Including each other. And their young. Mostly their nonsapient young.
>They're basically luddites, most of their "technology" being a combination of growing their bodies in a specialized manner and using the totally-not-element-zero of the setting to do things.
>They never really invented pronouns. They refer to everyone by their full name and title always.
>Their entire government system is basically might makes right, since they regenerate pretty well and can't die easily. Someone will say they're doing something, and if anyone disagrees they fight.
>They are also fervent conservationists. Its no fun hunting and eating a species if you can't do it again next year.
>Their favorite international sport is war with each other. Winner eats parts of the loser.

They were heavily based on pic related.

Earlier today there was a thread about post-apocalyptic tanks, which is a very cool idea. However, the thread was ruined because everybody in it was an idiot and no actual discussion on such a setting was had. This sucks and I wish to fix it, so I am making this thread so we can talk about post-apoc tanks, and maybe post-apoc other things as well.

One thing brought up in the last thread is that, realistically, there would be almost no materials to repair tanks in a post-apocalyptic setting. You could just ignore such a thing, many things often do ignore keep-up and repair of vehicles, but that's boring. What reason, be it somehow realistic or fantasical as you want, would you have to justify having a surplus of material for tank up-keep, /tg/?
155 posts and 52 images submitted.
>>
>>52250938
Maybe they only keep a few tanks in good condition and cannibalize the rest to keep those few running.
>>
>>52250938
A Pre-War mega corporation started a monopoly for the war, owning everything needed to mine, produce, or replicate the materials to repair their tanks and vehicles they made and sold in the same area.
Has/ Had advanced AA and Anti-Bomb/Missile defences because of the high value of the area, Or may be hidden deep underground.
Nuclear power-plant with a Computer operated Production line, near unlimited natural resources because this company had such close ties to the US Government that it essentially was.

Would be the main base of operations for the player group, with Tanks and other vehicles being common but above their pay grade/ useless for their missions.
Body armor, and weapons would be common, and less restricted, but the main issue would be that they are a Xenophobic community, and everyone knows this.
They would have to show that they are not actually the bad guys.

Think Brotherhood of Steel, in a Vault-tec factory, but in the setting of Wasteland.
>>
>>52251076
A simple, but effective Idea, anon. I like it.
