So I recently heard that almost 10% of high level good cards are counterfeit, thanks to scammers using unscrupulous chinese printing companies to make copies/fakes and selling them on the NA market.

Is there any truth to this?

10% is way too high a number, but counterfeit is more widespread than people can imagine. If decks were checked for counterfeits at any Legacy or Modern big tournament, we would all be surprised.

I don't think anyone really knows. Yeah, 10% is probably too high, but it's not like we have any data on this. Chinese don't publicize their sales data (obviously) and buyers try to convince everyone that their stuff is real, or don't know that they're fakes.

1. Has anyone ever made their own transfer sheets with a ink printer?
2. Does the forge world MkIV Dreadnought come with the body crest pictured on forge worlds website and a alternate one like in pic related? Or is it just the one on the website?

Song of Swords is a a tabletop RPG centered around realistic medieval fightan' with a ludicrous variety of weapons and fighting styles, centered around a dice pool system. It's currently in beta, and can be used for both fantasy and historical games. Kickstarter is happening NOW we are kicking ass baby!

Call of the Void: Ballad of the Laser Whales is a pulpy sci-fi tabletop RPG about fighting space-nazis and hunting giant whales with harpoons made out of the moon. Its combat system is more modern, based in the early 20th century, but can probably handle combat up to the present day.

Note that the latest version of the game is v1.9.9 but with additional supplements. It's NOT what's currently on Opaque's website, because Jimmy is Jimmy.

When gaining infinite life with a combo, am I allowed to use scientific notation to note my life total?
>>
>>52304962
There is no such thing as "infinite" in Magic. You have to pick an actual end point. General agreement is that your opponent should not require an advanced knowledge of mathematics to understand what you're doing. Scientific Notation for space-saving sake should be fine, as long as everyone knows what's going on; 10^10 on your pad is fine as long as everyone knows that means "ten billion".

What is the best tabletop wargame to get into if I'm the type of person who would put hobby first, game second?

I'm brand new to this kind of thing so naturally I've been looking at 40k, which has impressed me quite a bit with it's army line-up. There's some great looking stuff I would absolutely love to assemble and paint, and I've assembled a basic surface knowledge of the rules and watched some battle reports and it looks like a game I would enjoy playing (FWIW I'm coming from tabletop RPGs).

I have zero interest in playing competitively, just casually for fun. To my knowledge X-Wing and Warmachine are the next two most popular wargames but the models just don't look anywhere near as appealing. Is there anything else out there I should consider or would 40k be right for me?

Your next step should be scoping out the local game stores and asking what gets played there most often.

mind, if you think 40k's cool there's no real reason to avoid it

>What cultures do you mold them after?
None, really. They're very rare,as they're not a race per se, but created from normal humans from an evil Not!RenaissanceItaly realm ruled by a red dragon god, to server as his mortal chosen agents (dark paladins of sort).

>How tall are they?
Like very tall humans, but some are quite large; between seven and a half and almost nine feet.

>How much do they weigh?
Maybe about 50% more than a normal human of their height, but mostly due to muscle density; they're tall, but not specially broad or bulky.

>What's their relation to dragons?
As stated before, they were normal humans who rose from the ranks of the red dragon god cult to serve as emissaries, high priests and paladins. Sometimes they became castellans and stewards of important positions if there isn't a dragon around to do the job (in this evil Not!Italy, the children of the dragon god take on military and poticial charges).

>What are their preferred weapons?
Daggers and short swords for the spellcasters (sorcerers and clerics), long sword and tower shield for the warring types.

>Do they rely on natural armor such as scales?
No; their scales are not that hard. The don't even have a tail, only a dragon-like head (with crests and horns) and red skin color; enough to mark them as the chosen ones.
>>
>>52303536
>Your setting's dragonborn
Who?
>>
>What cultures do you mold them after?
Mali Empire, rich ass fuck and kind philanthropists, but a massive army and with a 'don't fuck with us, we won't fuck with you' attitude. Basically unified tribes
>How tall are they?
Depending on the breed and ancestry 5' to 12'
>How much do they weigh?
Again, depends on heritage, but the range is 75% of human of equal size to 200% of human of equal size
>What's their relation to dragons?
direct descendants of the various dragon clans that used to litter the continent they come from, magically (actual magic involved) changed to humanoid because humans are dicks
>What are their preferred weapons?
Big ones prefer mauls and two handed axes, smaller nimbler ones prefer short spear and shield, while all are trained to use bows (each clan also has a penchant for doing something to their arrows, Red Clan fire, Black Clan Poison ETC)
>Do they rely on natural armor such as scales?
They pretty much only rely on natural armor, as metal and plate are reserved for the commanders or rich fucks.

So I posted asking about this before but didn't get much of a response. I will attempt to be more detailed in hope of eliciting more feedback this time. Basically I'm attempting to create an RPG with a more realistic, reactive combat system than a traditional turn-based system. After thinking a lot, seeking advice from /tg/, and reading around, I realised my only option was a count-up system wherein combat progresses in a tick by tick manner and each person chooses an action which has a certain tick cost. Then as the tick progresses, actions play out in the order of their action speed. Envision the following scenario.

>Player 1 could begin casting a spell at enemy X on the first tick, which has a tick cost of 4.
>Player 2 chooses to fire his pistol, a tick cost of 2, at an enemy Y.
>After two ticks have passed, P2 shoots Y, assuming Y hasn't used those two ticks to move out of line of sight or something. P1 is still in the process of casting a spell however so they have no "turn"/action yet.
>P2 now chooses their next action, to run, for a tick cost of say 1, over to protect P1 from X who is currently charging towards P1 for a melee strike
>P2 arrives after the tick passes and now chooses to adopt a defensive stance for an indeterminate amount of ticks, they may choose to cancel this at any future tick and take an action if they so wish
>On the next tick P1 finally casts their spell and kills X, hurray.

All very straightforward agreed? What I'm really here to ask though is if any of you have played this type of system before (I believe Hackmaster is one such system). If you have, what was your experience? Did you find it better or worse than other systems? What were the pros/cons? Those who haven't are also welcome to offer opinions. How would you feel about playing such a system? What problems or edge cases can you imagine? Thanks in advance guys, I can't really playtest this yet as I haven't enough of a system behind it and nobody to playtest with anyway.

Bumping for interest.

I've never played systems that followed this setup, and have always been to leery of it to pursue it into playtest stage. Seems like a classic example of something that'll really, really slow the game down for that 80% of players who aren't as good at math. (Okay, I'm at tick 129, and this action takes 8 ticks plus 4 because of (modifier), so that means I'm next acting on tick 133? no, 143? Oh, 141? sorry.")
>>
>>52301824
Glad I'm not the only one. Incidentally there is a fairly obvious solution to your worry of tick bloat. Periodically resetting the tick counter to 0 after a certain number has passed? Or perhaps any time when all players have an action available?
>>
>>52301824
>>52301925
Though that seems like a slightly sloppy solution really. Another solution would be to subtract 10 from the tick counter every time each combatant has completed an action beyond the 10th tick?

Really though I have braced myself for the fact that this may need a more serious solution. I am seriously considering developing some companion software for phone/tablet/laptop which can handle the tricky number tracking and maths. I could whip something up in Java if I really needed to.

You are playing magic with someone you don't know well. You are winning pretty handily, when one of his dice rolls off the table and lands near your feet. When you pick it up to hand it back to him, you see that he has placed 4 of these on his side of the table, and is smiling at you, asking if you are done with your turn. Your response is:

A: Smile back at what is clearly a joke.
B: Tell him you are only interested in serious games, can you please remove those so we can finish. OR
C: Lose your shit, believe somehow these are real legal cards, and scoop them off the table trying to rip them in half in their sleeves all the while making random autistic screeching sounds how you are going to make sure everyone in the area shuns you.

So who wants to hear a story about autism?

Wisdom. "Worldliness and cunning" is for the bumpkin druids who think their aphorisms can rival academia. Leave power for the sorcerers too ashamed to admit their inferiority. Terror and that fire shit is for autistic warlocks who are the basically the fantasy equivalent of a /r9k/ frogposter.

Hey /tg/.

I have a spaceship model that I painted by hand and it looks okay but a bit messy. These days I do such things with sprays and have wanted to go back it give it a do over. My question is how should I go about removing the paint from this model without killing the detail? It is a plastic kit and it was sprayed with a basecoat before I painted on it. Can you use chemicals or should I just use the spray over the top of it again? I'd be using a Tamiya spray not an airbrush to be clear. Thanks a lot and love your work.
