Does anyone have advice how I can limit my players to a small area (like a small country)

Can we just skip to the part where we discuss something else entirely? How about the development of small cities, and the balance between Commerce properties and housing in a limited boundary of space? I feel like that never comes up, even in Dwarf Fortress, because you can almost always expand in any direction.

I've got two obsessions: good stories, and interesting game chemistry. I like character intereactions, and I like seeing game mechanics and options interact, and while I have a great GM who provides plenty of the former, I'm seriously lacking in the way of the latter.
What are your favorite metagames, interesting interactions between player options, and the like? I'll accept vidya as well as /tg/ if you believe it's notable.

Does anyone have experience with sex and/or romance between party members? To clarify, I mean the characters, not their players.
I've seen a few very mild cases wherein players will joke about one character crushing on another, but recently the Pathfinder game I run has reached new levels. Almost all of the characters have noteworthy Charisma scores, so there were some "oh no everyone's hot" jokes for a while. However, in a recent event where the party attended a masquerade, 80% of the party hooked up before the ball's end. One duo (male half-elf cavalier and female half-elf oracle) didn't recognize each other through their disguises and just decided to go home with a hot stranger. The other two (male half-orc samurai and male tiefling skald) totally saw through the costumes but used it as an excuse to release some sexual tension. Now the cavalier is trying to get with the skald and the oracle is trying to get with the samurai. The only PC left out of this is the male elf investigator who mostly just reads his books and shouts "Get a room!" occasionally.
I'm not looking for advice, since none of this is really getting in the way of the adventure and I love how invested everyone is. I'm just curious about other people's experiences.

I ended up having a small romance between my bard and another PC's fighter.
I was rather small with garbage health rolls, so they served as my bodyguard of sorts during combat. Other happenings include getting drunk and cuddling eachother, having her carry me over a river I was too small to tread through, and me scenting her hair with vanilla as she carried me around on her back.
It was good fun, but the campaign ended prematurely because the DM was shit. She told me she stuck around as long as she did because she enjoyed our RP.

My Warlock (human warlock of a Great Old One), seduced and repeatedly banged the party Fighter (a Goliath). To be fair, he's pretty simple-minded, she's a severely damaged slutbitch (former slave 'raised' by a sea-witch and crew of orcish pirates since they kidnapped her when she was 9), and we always faded-to-black on the sex scenes.
