Get rid of the "Kindly no End Times or Age of Sigmar." bit. We know already. No other general has to do this.

Also might help to just make a "games" pastebin with the six or so at the bottom of the list. Plus, there will be more coming, with the hack-and-slash and TWW sequel/expansion/etc.

I was reading over fluff from Grom the Paunch's battles, specifically this one, and I found it odd that the Empire not keeping its oaths of friendship with the Dwarves only earned a grudge. Wouldn't this be enough to drastically affect their relationship? If an agreement isn't being kept by one side, the Dwarves shouldn't feel they have to honor their end.

A token force of human support might have explained this - they upheld their side of things, if not well - but no such force was apparently sent.

Well I mean Carthage was extremely similar to Rome in terms of government and administration, so a Carthaginian civilization would look a lot like Roman civilization.

A desert-based naval trade empire. Not too hard mate. Also brown qts who are as of yet unspoiled by Islam

>>52453914
Maybe I'm dumb, but wasn't Carthage more of a plutocracy where Rome was more of a military republic with conscription and political structures that only allowed those who served in the army to advance? I always had the impression that Carthage was ruled by merchants who mostly used mercenaries to bolster their forces while the Romans had conscripts and "allies".

Honestly there's nothing very strange about that, its natural to feel some attraction to a woman similar to our mother and Two is both far younger and very different. And Shinji never even knew his mom anyway so it's not even oedipidal.

What's wierd is Shinjis dad making and hanging out with clones of his dead wife

Kind of reminds me of Pravin Lal

Anyone done a West Marches style game? Something with old school difficulty where half the struggle is lugging treasure back to town. Something pulpy with random encounters galore, death at every corner, and an open unexplored world? Most of my friends are leaving town so I'm considering making an online group. I've heard horror stories about Roll20 groups being really flaky so I figure this system might be better than a traditional campaign. West Marches allows people to drop in and out and doesn't require a dedicated session day.

in STO, how many Hitlers worth of casualties does it take to get to max level?
>>
>>52409555
Many. Just getting to level 40 I think I killed over 300 starships with crew of about a thousand each, so that's 300,000 dead from leveling alone. And that's not even endgame, the bodycount really raises there. I fly a Mirror Universe ship because that way all the genocide is at least thematic.

So I just got The main rulebook to L5R and the books on enemies, the great clans and the Book of Air. I love the setting and the game seems incredibly fun and interesting, I was inspired by javascript:quote('52364366'); and am planning on running a game for my group soon. I am planning on giving the campaign a sorrowful, mournful feel, as though what is great in the world is slowly fading away while incorporating a large amount of dynastic politics from the clans, but keeping a blood speaker cult as a main enemy throughout the whole campaign. I was wondering what advice you might have for me and any useful tips that you might have for a new L5R GM.

Try to play L5R before running it. There are a lot of cultural considerations that don't come to mind naturally for us westerners, and as the GM you're on the spot to constantly remind players of the different world they are playing in.
>>
>>52409146
Unfortunate, since the game got brought out by FFG, and they'll probably re-release it with their own shiny spin on things.

> Read as much as you can. L5R has rules spread across a tonne of books, and even the fluff will offer rules for your players based on social conventions etc.
> Decide what time period you're playing in. The current time period in game is....well its not great for stories at all. Flick it back to a period you like the look of, and even feel free to retcon elements.
>Make sure you impress onto your players that if they murderhobo or lulsorandumb, they will die quickly and horribly, mostly due to honour duels, but could be made to seppuku their characters
>Have fun

So I have done a lot of reading around about geography/geology etc. in order to try and build a world that makes sense and is logically consistent. So far I've got the main continents placed and tectonics mapped out (including mountain chains and general elevation), axial-tilt and rotational direction too, ocean gyres followed from those, and then classified everything with respect to the Koppen climate scheme accordingly. Now though I'm trying to figure out freshwater distribution for this particular region, I feel like what I've got here seems wrong but I can't say why. The dark green area in the middle is mountainous, hemiboreal forest gradually declining in elevation towards the coast. The lighter green stretch along the coast is very flat wetland, the southern half being marshland and the northern half being swampland. I was under the impression that rivers tend to meander less in mountainous areas with large elevation changes? And that they tend to delta more in flatter land with low tidal range? I don't know how/if river size correlates to likelihood of delta formation either.

Any other anons who are into realistic world-shaping/mapping out there who can lend their knowledge? By the way I intend this thread to not just be about me, feel free to share your own maps and we can all learn from each other.

What's your strategy re: possession, /tg/?
12 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
I don't do it as a GM during combat because it sucks to be the player that doesn't get to do anything. Hey you know why I play tabletop games? To have my character do nothing. If a GM has an NPC possess a PC, then it's basically like saying "you don't get to play today."

It's way better if it's some kind of subtle thing, or if I can take the player aside and work with them to get them to roleplay the possession.

Now, if the players walk into a situation where they get mind controlled or corrupted and it results in something akin to possession, that's fine, as long as it's temporary or fixable or something.
>>
>>52475592
>If a GM has an NPC possess a PC, then it's basically like saying "you don't get to play today."
Why not let them play the possessed character and go to town on the party?

If Theros, Amonkhet and the spoilder Atla-mayans are any indication, we're going to be visiting more and more culturally diverse settings as time goes on, which raises the question - why does everyone speak the same language? For Jace it makes sense, he's a telepath and can just download whatever language he needs, but Sorrin, Nahri and Ugin had no trouble communicating despite having come from vastly different planes, and sharing incredibly different upbringings. No one in batted an eye that Liliana or Ajani, who'd never been to Kaladesh, could communicate with the locals. It's not like there was once a universal planar-empire, these cultures all developed independently.

Are they all using a universal translation spell? That raises even more questions, because Chandra apparently can cast fire spells, and ONLY fire spells. Who teaches the planeswalkers the spell in that case?

My personal theory is it's something about the spark - in addition to making you an ungodly wizard, it connects you to the mana of each plane you're on at the time you're on it. As each plane has its own character, it 'develops' languages in line with that, that planeswalkers aren't even aware they're speaking when they arrive. For all they know, everyone speaks the same language.
11 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>52474041
IIRC that's more or less how it is. Having your spark ignite grants you the ability to speak and understand most languages.
>>
>>52474149
Well it's a lazy explanation but it at least explains how some planeswalkers can be so dumb and get away with it. Is it possible to spoof that mlby making up a language the spark can't translate?
>>
>>52474172
I'm guessing such a language would most likely belong to some faction that somehow defies The Rules of the multiverse and manages to exist outside the typical planar structure. Eldrazi for example. Wasn't Jace only able to speak with Emrakul because of his telepathic abilities or something? I've kinda glazed over recent lore so I could be way wrong here
