Well, the previous thread is actually closed now, so I suppose I'll bump here. Both of these SCP entries give a pretty awesome Christian/Christian-esque cosmic horror feel, SCP-093 would even make for an awesome setting in and of itself.

OP of the first thread if you are here have you looked into the genre known as religious horror? The Exorcist and Rosemary's Baby are obvious choices but so to is the fairly recent film Legion and the lesser known film The Shrine.

I'm wanting a game situation where the characters can work their way up to wield significant world power. What are good real world cultures to make evil space empires based off of besides Rome, Nazi Germany, and the Soviet Union? All I can think of are the Aztec Empire and Mongolians.

Well, I mean, I wouldn't mind seeing an evil space empire headed by someone like Cromwell in a similar situation to real life. Maybe the Byzantines during one of their periodical 'lets fuck everything up' sessions, or Karl XII's Swedish Empire that quickly expanded and became a top tier power before suddenly coming down and dying a slow death that was remarkably quick compared to most empires' lifespans.

You got a backwards, despotic, dystopian, semi-feudal society that's starting to fall apart because their absolute ruler, might be a good guy personally, is a terrible ruler.
