How motivated would an adventuring party be to clear-out a dungeon if the reward WAS the dungeon.

I wanted to establish that in setting there is an old law that says that if a group of adventurers can render a dungeon livable, (i.e. clear out any traps, haunts, and either remove or pacify any monsters residing within) and keep it that way for a full year, it's rightfully theirs.

Can this be considered an adequate reward?

Is that law really necessary?
If they clear out all the monsters, then who's going to contest their claim?

Which would you prefer?

A complex neural surgery that will limit various other cybernetic options you could get but effectively allows you to control 8 limbs (your 4 regular limbs plus 4 more cybernetic limbs) or have a limited AI that tries to learn and anticipate your actions sometimes acting and moving in ways you can't always predict.

Limited AI

complex neural surgery sounds dangerous, or at least annoying

well-intentioned klutzy AI sounds cute

That said, you're asking a lazy wannabe-neet, not a professional with responsibilities and high-risk tasks
>>
>>52626850
Why would you want the latter over the former? Maybe I'm misreading this but it doesn't seem to benefit you at all
>>
>>52626900

The former requires surgical implants to help you fully control an extra set of limbs attached to your body you never had before aside from the 4 you are typially born with.

That said, not every implant can do everything so shoving a super computer into your noggin is out of the question when most of your brain is re-wired and cybered up to help you with your augmentations.

The latter helps offset the first one but then you are relying on an AI to effectively learn how you act and do things and function accordingly so you could be a super haxxor and hopefully your AI tag along doesn't begin typing in the URL to porn sites while your hacking the gibson from multiple interfaces.

So I was at a game just a little bit ago and something happened between me and the players and I wanted to see if I was wrong to feel this way.

So it was the pretty much the end of the session and one of the party members was speaking with a skeevy back ally salesman type and I was trying to set it up so he would get a serum that would give him a new power because his character is chronically dying so I wanted to give him a little boost in defense. I was hoping that he would trade something for it but instead he tried to intimidate the guy into giving it to him for free. Okay, that's not what I intended but whatever. He fails the roll. He then calls over another party member and ask them to intimidate the guy. He fails too. He basically calls over the whole party to have them intimate this guy and rob him( this is a good guy campaign mind you). Everyone fails until finally the last person NAT 20s XD. Now at this point I was pretty pissed because they went through the whole party, which is like 7 people trying to preform the same action and now they say because it is a Nat 20 they get and automatic success. I tell them Nat 20s are only auto successes on attack rolls. They start to complain because that isn't how it works on critical roll or whatever. I finally just give in because what's the point and let them rob the guy blind.

I was pretty upset by this for some reason but I can't help feeling that maybe I should have just let them have their way.

Long story short, am I wrong to be upset by my player in this situation?

Sounds reasonable to be annoyed.

You would have been within your rights to have the dude at least try and run away after the player failed. Or teleport away on some Fiat bullshit.

However, you didn't do that, and the players (as they may do) abused their privileges to get a benefit. Hence, the player got something you feel they didn't deserve, and your irritated.

Totally reasonable to be annoyed. It is, however, at least 50% your fault for letting the situation drag on. Next time, nut up, and take the carrot out of their reach.
>>
One issue is that you let them roll.

If it's impossible for them to succeed even if they roll a 20, then you should tell them that. They're free to still attempt to perform the action after you tell them that, but if the DC is just too high, skip the dice roll and tell them that they were going to fail regardless of what they rolled, as you explained earlier. In this scenario, it seems like the DC could increase a little after each failure, and you can go ahead and use that as justification for why it would be beyond their ability to succeed.

But, I think the MAIN issue is that the player decided to do something you didn't like and was sort of out of character. Typically, the best way to go about handling this is just directly talking to the player. Explain that it's a very short and quick path to making a character unlikable by having them bully people, and it's kind of off-putting for players to abuse their power that way.

If that doesn't work, explaining things like potential consequences (you can't just rob a guy and not expect him t try to get some kind of revenge) might remind them not to press their luck. In fact, that option is still available, though honestly at this point it would seem more like you being petty, rather than the salesman.
>>
>>52626321
Just have the guy hand him over a poison instead of the power potion; I mean who's to say what a magic power potion should look like? If he really is a back alley salesman he would have dealt with situations like this before and have a backup vial or to to hand over. You can even have the poison buff the character in the short term so the salesman has time to get away and then after a day or two the detrimental effects kick in.

I'm currently working my way through risk legacy with my friends, I took notes of what happened in the first game turn by turn, because I think I want to make a setting based on the game. Using the wars, interesting turns of battles, and how the games go to write a history and narrative for the setting.
Does this sound reasonable or interesting to anyone?

Our recurring villain had his arm severed during one of our many conflicts. He was a vampire, so the limb didn't rot. Druid used it as a focus to improve Scrying on him. Nobody in the group really objected, and it was often used by everyone to taunt him when we met up again (using it to wave hello or goodbye, manipulating fingers into various rude gestures).

So me and my room mate want to get into AoS. I already have some skaven from back in the day and we are looking to start lizardmen, the enemy of the skaven. We want out list to both be strong but also pretty evenly matched so one person is not always winning. However, it would be nice if these lists could hold their own against other armies if we take them out to play against others.

For the skaven we have
40+ clan rats
a screaming bell, warp lightning cannon, and doom wheel
20 monks
Tons of giant rats, weapons teams, and ogres.

For a 1000pt match we are looking at
Screaming bell 260
20 clan rats 120
20 clan rats 120
doom wheel 140
warp lightning cannon 180

We then have 180 pts left over. I am thinking
2 x warpfire thrower weapon team
1x poisoned wind mortar weapon team

We could also add a warplock engineer or gutter runners or something.

If we want to expand the army I am thinking of getting a vermin lord (which is the best?) and some storm vermin.
For the seraphon we want to have a skink heavy army.

Skink priest 100
Bastiladon 300
stegadon 200
10 skinks 80
10 skinks 80
5 Chameleon skinks 120
5 Chameleon skinks 120

If we wanted to expand the army for higher points I am thinking of adding some ripperdactyles for the skink patrol and another box of skinks. Maybe a skink starseer and skink chief. If the stegadon or bastiladon work out well we could get another one of those too.

So, how do the lists look? Keep in mind they are written by someone who has never played age of sigmar. Any advice on how to expand each army? I am worried that because skaven are chaos the lizardmen will wreck them hard with all their anti-chaos stuff, but at the same time skaven have so many mortal wound applying weapons that maybe the skinks on dinos won't be able to handle it.

Do you already know the rules to an RPG?
>>
>>52621748
If you knew anything about biology, you should know that if sexed right, hymens don't break.

You gotta do it gently. Don't dive straight into the deep end, and if it starts hurting, backpedal a bit and try again.

Let your players know you're inexperienced if you believe they won't try to break you.

Oh, and don't forget lube and foreplay. They exist for a reason.
>>
Start simple, maybe with a prewritten module or something, where you have a framework to help you before diving into your own setting.

Only allow people who you know won't actively try to break the game to play.

Dude, you're looking for "Slippery" Jim DeGriz, the Stainless Steel Rat.

Is any break in the total global civilization's standards going to push humanity down to Mad Max tribalism levels?

Is it possible for humanity to only slide back down to, say, feudal levels?

Or does humanity always restart at the bottom and work back up the civilization scale (Greek Dark Ages, European Dark Ages, etc)

>Is it possible for humanity to only slide back down to, say, feudal levels?

Yes, and especially nowadays. That's because we've crossed the point of no return in many technological areas, now. The industrial revolution was supported by easily reached resources, but now all those are gone. The resources that we use to produce this advanced technogical lifestyle can only be reached by advanced technological means. That's especially true for fuel.

If shit hits the fan, we're going to fall from very high, and we won't ever return to these heights.

But excluding alien invasions, shit won't hit the fan for every country on earth at the same time. So, for example, if 2 nuke are dropped on USA east and west coasts, Europe and Asia will still go on and will become the overlords of humanity. But those who stay on the american territory won't be able to reachieve their old standard of living.

We broke a bar under us on the ladder of advancement, and if we ever go back, we won't return.
>>
>>52617591

I wouldn't say 'cant ever' return, but it would certainly be an uphill battle. Not prevents us from retracting our steps, but its a time consuming process especially if records of how we did it the first time are lost.
