Looking for a group on a european time zone to play with
I need a regular fucking group to meet weekly for anything. So tired of people cancelling all the time.
FUCKING WEEKLY!

I can't even find a single group
>Question: Should "To Hit" and "Damage" be separate or the same roll?
Character sheet for my first attempt homebrew game. Thoughts?

>Question: Should "To Hit" and "Damage" be separate or the same roll?
I've always liked base Defense/Attack stat with opposed rolls added. From there, the difference is the damage. I mean yea it's clunky but I've always loved it.
I have no rules and I must brew.
>>52583574
Both can be good, depends on the system. I find separate works better for simple mechanics.
I'm making an adventure that's in a creepy forest setting, and I need some cool/creepy forest monsters, pic related

The Hide Behind.
Giant beavers.

hidebehind is good, as are other fearsome critters (if you make 'em a little more fearsome and a little less goofy)
15mm a best edition
>What is /awg/?
A thread to talk about minis and games which fall between the cracks. /hwg/ doesn't entertain fantasy (for good reason) and the other threads are locked to very specific games, so this thread isn't tied to a game, or a genre, lets talk about fun wargames.
Any scale, any genre, any company, any minis. Skirmishers welcome. Rules designers welcome.
>Examples of games that qualify
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_miniature_wargames
Grimdark Future, Age of Fantasy, Mighty Armies, Dragon Rampant, Of Gods and Mortals, Frostgrave, Hordes of the Things, Songs of Blades and Heroes, Freebooter's Fate, Dark Age, LotR and anything that doesn't necessarily have a dedicated thread (gorkamundheim).

Bump
Give me your most interesting rule wise skrimish games.
>>52528253
Honestly malifaux's core mechanics are amongst the most interesting to me. Action points and alternating activations, with card based resolutions and a solid scenario generator. Too bad their current aesthetics and individual unit designs aren't that great IMHO
Anyone know any clever / funny ways to cheat him into a game with friends?
>>52640994
Hiding him in a card sleeve.
tap three islands, put down cheaty face, than use your three blue mana for something else.
>>52641092
Kek. Not OP, but I'm going to do that if I get a Cheatyface.
How important is physical strength in modern warfare?
Let's say we are fighting an alien species, which are far stronger than us. Would that be a big influence?
Mildly important in that the average infantryman needs to lug around a lot of gear and ammo, and adopting weaker, lighter ammo for service weapons is a frequent compromise.
Stronk muskles won't help you not get airstriked or artileried to bits, though.
Very important in that non-grunts, the people hauling supplies and arming warmachines, have a lot of especially big and especially heavy shit to manipulate, which is why militaries are so keen on developing exosuits.
>>52639880
You don't want your soldiers to be huge slabs of muscle, that means they require more food to stay alive.
Something close to book-version War of the Worlds Martians, except with a really ferocious immune system instead of a nonexistent one. A big brain, good eyes, good hands/manipulators, and the smallest amount of organs needed to support that. Although the sense organs and hands might well be disposed of in favor of neural interfacing, turning the soldier into a brain and support organs, basically.
Flesh is squishy and weak, machines stronk. what the soldier contributes is the intelligence the machines currently lack. And a soldier that's just a brain-pod allows for more machine and less meat, as well as less restriction in shape. Such a soldier could wear power armor that doesn't have its limbs limited by the need to wrap around the squishy arms and legs of the human inside for example.
Almost forgot; for self reproduction they'll need wombs and weenies, if artificial ones don't already exist.
The real world is full of things a lot bigger and stronger then man. They all get killed with guns, the great equalizer over strength.
Hey /tg/ I've been thinking. I know the concept of super soldiers is relatively not foreign in science fiction but what about Fantasy? I've been tinkering with the idea of some long forgotten civilization experimenting with people of Epic born fate (Like incredibly powerful stats with some inherit destiny to save the world. Instead of letting the destiny play out they take them and freeze them in stasis. When they gather enough capable Epic heroes who are all roughly equivalent ages because of the stasis they train them in all forms of fantasy powers.
The idea was that the BBEG, or whatever isn't really a BBEG but a group of these Arcane super soldiers from an ancient civilization awoken from stasis. This obviously wouldn't be noticeable right away to the players, but sooner or later they would come across the group or maybe even select members as they are completely missions or destabilizing the region and assassinate powerful figures.
A few issues come up. The soldiers themselves. I am having issues coming up with their Classes, equipment, and tactics. If these guys are Fantasy Hyper soldiers I was thinking of having them gestalt classes, with some sort of armor that is woven into their very bodies for maximum capability(Like guyver or pic related).
tl;dr Trying to generate Fantasy Super Soldiers as antagonists from some long forgotten time need help brain storming some ideas about the soldiers themselves. Trying to do this for 5e.
>>52639025
Some Ideas so far:
>Ability to use multiple forms of fantasy powers ranging from ki, to magic, maybe even some divine stuff.
>Always over equipped with equipment
>Armor is some kind of powerful armor that gives them haste, has adamantium plates woven in for protection, telepathy with the collective group regardless of distance, limited invisibility, water breathing, and etc. Powered by some crystal of power.
>>52639025
that'll cost you a ritualistic birthing ceremony and a good 15 years of gym fees for each.
>>52639151
And they still die like scrubs.
As someone who got into D&D in 3rd Edition and currently favors 5th, is it worth going back and giving 2e a try?
>>52632897
It's gonna feel weird to you, it has all kinds of rules that don't really make much sense but have been tacked on over the years - it's basically houserules the game. It's worth a look I guess?
>>52632897
No. But if you like 5e, you'll think AD&D is fucking amazing - IF you have a GM who can think for himself.
>>52632897
Go 1e, 2e is going to feel clunky unless you've been actively using it in a side game or something
Post your favorite MTG art. I just got a new one with Amonkhet.

Matrix Edition
What connection does your character have to the Matrix?
Do they use it casually, a few mails, a few shitty sim-games, the works?
Are they a full matrix native, breathing code, dreaming code, being code?
Do they use it to escape the dreary real world?

It's possibly the worst idea I never wanted. So probably better than Beast the Primordial.
lolno not even close
We've had this thread god knows how many times by this point.
The consensus is a pretty strong 'no'.
What weapons would you like to see more represented in tabletop and other media?
I am rather biased towards the Khopesh, and the Halberd.
The good ol' Falx.
Literally, indisputably, undeniably, irrefutably, unarcumptuously, the greatest melee weapon ever made.
>>52638107
>Halberd
I agree, but polearms are really really tricky. There's about a million different ones and they were (mostly) all specialized for attacking certain armor or formations
Tell me about bandits in your settings. Are they poor people robbing others on the road? Are they unemployed mercenaries wrecking shit on the countryside? Tell me.
A strong yes.
Doesn't depend on the setting but the bandits themselves. Some of those, some of these, and some others too.
The latter.
both of these and much more - bored nobility, foreign agents rising unrests, misunderstood revolutionaries, PCs...
