That's all I can really remember but it went on for like 10 minutes, owner kept trying to be diplomatic while this guy loses his goddamn mind over alignment in general, even going so far as to ask if he can put down Dao on his character sheet for alignment.
I get that not everyone likes alignment, whatever. But why stand there arguing with someone in a loud ass voice? It's not like you're gonna get a DM to change how he's doing something unless you've known them for a while. I dont get guys who show up at game stores and choose to be asses at the top of their lungs.
Anyone else see stuff like this? Im not sure if it counts as a THATguy thread since they hadnt even started playing together yet.

Now, we all know about the story of Farsight: His status of a legendary commander, his the Eight Warriors, his mystical blade and power, his spamming of Suits, etc.
But what of the realm under his control? We know that no ethereals are allowed, and that castes are relatively intermixed. But what of the realm itself? How diverse is it? How much freedom does the average person have, and quality of life?

Depends on the setting and the nature of magic.
In purely physical, 'scientific' terms, not much. Ice magic is just a permutation of temperature control 'fire' magic and the control of the physical mass, which could be water or earth depending on how the system allocates things.
If you're going for a more metaphorical, thematic magic system the distinction is much more pronounced. Water is a lifegiving force. It nurtures crops, it's necessary for survival, and it's long had associations with healing, purity and holiness.
Ice, meanwhile, is associated with harsh winters that kill crops, causing starvation and freezing people to death. The thematic links to it are a lot less pleasant in general.

It shouldn't be difficult to see why these two things would have some slight overlap, but still be their own seperate things.

I have a zirilan dragon tribal, but I don't enjoy playing it because if zirilan doesn't stick I end up losing very quickly since it has no early game. I'm planning to disassemble him and reassemble the deck as a Karrthus dragon tribal, so I get juicy removal and ramp to fill out my early game.
Anyone got secret Karrthus tech? Obviously I've looked at all the dragons available and I'll be packing the green/black staples, but any cute, non-obvious stuff would be nice.

Horrors aren't a terrible choice, since there is variety and a decent curve.
But theres no synergy at all between them, so it's kinda just a theme.
You wanna be dimir, but in terms of cool horror commanders, imo the coolest is Tsabo Tavoc, and she actually has a relevant ability for EDH.
alternatively you can run nightmare tribal with chainer, but he kinda fucks you more than he helps you.

I kinda like tinker gnomes, but they're too play out in dumb ways. Whenever I need someone to fill a slightly anachronistic position, I tend to toss a gnome in there since it seems fitting for a tinker with no gadgets.
For example, an overworked Adventure Society clerk ("I'm up to my nose in paperwork back here. I don't need more forms to fill out when you screw up,") and a stage-hardened stand-up comedian ("You gou talent, kid, but this business will chew you up and spit you out in the gutter.")
As a result, my gnomes tend to be frazzled and jaded workaholics more than anything.
