Haven't played Heroclix in forever. Last time I really played was when I won 1st place in the War of Light event and took home colossal Necron. Good times
Mostly it just costs a lot to collect especially with all the prime and chase figures now and I was obsessed with collecting everything DC. Kinda been wanting to pick up the Undead stuff.

Tomorrow I play as my very first evil aligned character. Neutral Evil Specifically.
The game is 4th Edition, for the record.
I'll Neutral Evil Paladin of Tiamat getting thrown into a party comprised of two Neutral characters. He's a Half-Orc with a big fuck-off executioner axe; you've seen this before.
I imagined the character as a kind of horrible amalgamation of Drax the Destroyer, Rath from Ben 10 and Jayne Cobb from Firefly in an attempt to avoid being a typically BLARGH I HIT WITH AXE type.
I'm struggling to get into the mindset of a selfish bastard, and I was hoping you elegan/tg/entlemen would have some tips for me. Any constructive advice, quotes to use in game, character art or relevant anecdotes is appreciated.

I really like M15 to be honest.

Hey /tg/, how do I bring up prejudice in games?
Inb4 Tumblrina. I want to make my characters uncomfortable effectively, not protect them. What, you think I'm gay or something?
I'm running a game set in the early 80s, one of the players made a super black voodoo practitioner.
I like to keep my games with a mix of supernatural hijinks with unsettlingly normal problems.
As the party went to an Elementary school for an investigation, I realized the kung fu Korean of the party might be alright as they wandered the halls aimlessly, but Flava Flav should probably raise an eyebrow or two.
As I had the Dean of students look upon him with disdain and open disgust as he walked by the darkie in question started approaching him to see what's up.
I got caught off guard he didn't "get it" and wound up going full spaghetti before they just went along their way.
I mean, I assume if you make a character like that you're expecting, even hoping to get some shit about it. [Spoiler] Almost like were Roleplaying or something. [/spoiler]Also, I'm black and dont want to come off as bitter or accusatory
tl;dr
How do I have an NPC be racist and have the character feel ostracized/out of place without players feeling picked on?

I played some dark heresy but never D&D
I got pulled in a group because for some reason after 28 years people want to do stuff with me.
Just a small question about the system.
i want to play a dwarf that can fight and casts a spell now and then.
If i make a dwarf wizard, can i still wield a hamer?
also
can, lets say a barbarian with really high int/char/wis cast spells? or do you need to always be a class that can cast spells for that?
I was thinking half-orc barbarian that was a shaman in his tribe so could use 1-2 spells

Long story short, I love the sheer variety of bizarre and alien races that D&D has put out over its lifespan. We've had everything from playable sphinxes and fairies in Basic to revenants and dhampyrs in 4e. So, I like putting my money where my mouth is and trying to convert races from past editions, or even /tg/ relevant media like Warcraft and Zelda, to 5e.
Challenge me with any race you like, and I'll give it a shot. Draenei? Moogle? Zora? Sphinx? I'll give it my best shot, if you got the courage to ask for it.

Have a crack at the Warforged and Changeling from Eberron. The UA didn't do them justice; the Warforged is OK but the Changeling is either boring or boring and broken depending on how you read the term "polymorph" and neither version has anything to offer you if you don't use the disguise power, which doesn't fit the theme of most of these guys just being folk rather than all of them being superspies.

How do I deal with a player who tries to hog the spotlight? I'm not sure why but it feels like he thinks he's the main character of the story and gets mad when other plays do things without him
>Gets mad when he takes any damage at all
>Goes through overly elaborate descriptions of his attacks which take 20 seconds on average and gets mad when they miss or don't kill the enemy
>Gets mad when other party members kill enemies instead of him. Literally accuses them of kill stealing and insists he was 'tanking' or 'softened it up for you'
>Insists on talking to all NPCs despite having low CHA
>Tries to find connections to his backstory in every quest they go on and gets mad when I tell him they're unrelated
>Backstory involves him being an ex king, master assassin, slayer of dragons, part demonic, orphan and widow all rolled into one
>Gets mad when he runs into traps without letting the rogue scout ahead and disarm them and complains I 'put them there on purpose'

He's not a bad person outside of of D&D but in game he just acts like a complete dick. The other players are veterans with the game and so are content to hang back and not do everything. They're all in several other campaigns anyway so I think they just see this campaign as a bludge one. I've tried telling him that the story is supposed to be shared by everyone and he settles down for about half a session or so but then gets visibly frustrated when the other players decide to solve problems their own ways and makes passive aggressive remarks like 'That's not what I would have done' or 'Man this isn't going to work'.

Show him this thread, as these comprise all of your complaints.
Talk to the other players, get a full accounting of his misdeeds, itemize them, and put him to task. He gets 3 strikes, and then he's out, and he is already on strike 1.
OP, you need to show some guts and get a handle on your players, they will run roughshod on you IF YOU LET THEM. Stop being afraid of "ruining their fun" if they are ruining the fun of others.

there are some bits of interesting lore, most of the art is garbage, the rules are efficient and fun, not all armies are equally supported, a lot of the lore is in an embryonic stage and it's difficult to get an idea of what the world is like outside of war.
but really, you shouldn't get into army-focused wargames, convert a small team of really cool miniatures and play Dark Age of Sigmar with people who will appreciate your modelling skills
