oops.
So, Starjammer is okay. I wonder how compatible it will be with Starfinder.
I'm planning on making a fantasy wild west campaign. Any tips?Yes, I know deadlands exists, it just really isn't what I'm looking for.
Pic Semi-Related.
>>52816306
What level of fantasy are you taking the campaign setting?
>>52816459
Shadowrun levels.
>>52816472
Not too much fantasy, but magic is still pretty common.

To the one who's making the Umineko jump, just make becoming a Voyager an post-spark reward if you complete a scenario akin to the games. It would be fun, and after a chain ends powerlevels don't matter anyway.
Jumpers what are the best music making perks?
>>52816036
The musician jump makes you into one helluva great instrumental player that can even sway the gods
Also for jumpers who bought whorehouse in Witcher or Black Dynamite how do you manage the establishment?

First for downtime is rad and you should consider slowing down your campaign sometimes to allow for its use.

Why did Wizards give the rights of the old modules to Goodman Games? Goodman Games is fucking terrible.
Lets talk character archetypes /tg/ Not necessarily your favorite, but the one you get the most compliments on, or acknowledgement for. Or even if you've noticed its the kind of character you play in long running games the most often?
>>52815871
Wont let me post for some reason. enjoy a shitty copy past.
>>52815871
>He's got a terrible secret
Players are naturally suspicious as fuck about fellow players acting at all weird, USE THAT.
>>52815871
I tend to be the more experienced played among my group so I like to play the Jack-of-all-Trades strategic leader. Due to me being more familier with the rules, I feel like I would kinda outshine other people if I played classes that fill a similar role to what they do, so I prefer to not really have a specific role and just be the idea guy.
I'm sure this has already been done to death, but I'll ask it anyway. How would you go about capturing the 'feel' of this game in a ttrpg? Any particular systems you would recommend for it?
>>52815635
>Medium to high lethality
>Punishing enemies
>Hunger/exhaustion mechanics
>Sanity damage
>"Treadmill progression" i.e. adventuring gets you resources to continue adventuring
>Grimdark setting
>Setting occasionally blows up with a moment of serious heroism
Dark Heresy might actually be decent for this if you ran a lot of enemies that messed with Corruption/Sanity and a big party to absorb losses.
>>52815691
Some other stuff I thought of
>Every enemy is dangerous, there are no 'easy' fights because all fights drain resources
>Base management (although I'm not sure if that's really something that would heighten the experience)
>'Souls-like' storytelling, with story coming from context clues rather than any concrete information
>Big bad is not killable, but can be delayed
>>52815737
Base management in a tabletop game really depends on your party and the amount of bullshit surrounding the "payoff" of seeing your situation improve.
I did it in one game by abstracting all the bullshit into a resource called Supplies. Players would occasionally run across something near their base (like a freshwater spring or other resource) that would add Supplies, or be given Supplies as a quest reward. Supplies could be used to buy upgrades for their castle, like stables or repairing the crumbly walls.
For DD, the supplies that fix up the Hamlet (Ancestor's yard sale rubbish) have to be weighed against the supplies that fix up your troops (Gold), because you can only carry so much back per adventure.
The last thing I think exemplifies DD is the "cascade failure," where one stroke of bad luck can completely fuck a party. Now that's not really fun in the regular sense, but it's part of the experience. At its core, Darkest Dungeon is a game about managing shitty luck and increasingly troubled characters. If you can find a way to implement that sort of feel without it feeling cheap too, that could be really neat. Make sure your players have more than one character sheet, though.
What elements do you use in your games, anon?

If I bring that up, it's gonna be a different kind of "acid".
How would you do Space Polynesian aliens? The chief problem is that you can't have primitives with spacefaring technology.
>>52815274

Sounds like you're shit at creativity and GMing. Go fellate a shotgun.

>The chief problem is that you can't have primitives with spacefaring technology.
Why not? Maybe they stole spacefaring technology from somebody. Maybe someone sold it to them. Maybe they're not as primitive as you think.
Maybe that guy in the middle has a laser spear now, and maybe those guys on the ends holding the whatchamajiggers are replaced by anti-gravity platforms. Badda-bing badda-boom you've got techno-Polynesians.
Sup /tg/
So in a fit of boredom I ran a vampire dark ages session for my much younger siblings, and while my brothers (13 and 15) weren't huge fans, my 12 year old sister fucking loved it. While she was fine with the opening session that took place on a ship I'm not sure she'll enjoy the 13th century Anatolian vampire politics that is the rest of the campaign (I originally made it for some friends) and I feel that long term its not going to be a good system to run 1 on 1 sessions with her.
My question is, what the fuck is a good system that works with 1 player 1 GM and that an otherwise generic 12 year old girl might like while has enough depth that I'm not going to bash my own brains out trying to run it for her. She plays terrible witch school mobile games on her Ipad so I assume she likes witches if that helps? Obviously a game being somewhat mechanically simple is a plus, although she picked up the vampire system pretty quick (which isn't surprising given its just basic addition and throwing d10's at the table) and since it will be one on one I can always help her mechanically.

I've taught 14 year olds on nWoD a lot. Once you get past the math it's just rolling lots of dice and counting high numbers. For setting I'd say you should watch some magical girl/Shojo shit and go along with it. Magical schools and that like. Personally I wouldn't be able to do romance with my twelve year old sibling so the main interest of most little girls is out.

Got the Wrong Memo Edition: Did you ever make a character that didn't fit the campaign at all? Did you stick with it or did you scrap the character and start over?

And high concept storylines.
Group vs. group fights in television shows, movies, etc. almost always have the heroes split up and deal with their own enemies/enemies.This is because it is easier to choreograph, and it looks better on the screen.
However, I have never, ever encountered an RPG with group vs. group combat wherein the best tactic was not to focus fire on one enemy at a time.
A rare few RPGs, like Mythender, get around this by having the group of PCs always face a single abstracted "enemy unit" regardless of whether that unit is a single powerful foe or a horde of mooks. That is not quite the same as group vs. group combat, however.
Are there any RPGs with group vs. group combat that reward spreading out attacks across multiple enemies, instead of focusing fire?
>>52814468
The Riddle of Steel does a good job of this.
Not because it doesn't reward focusing attacks, but because focused attacks are so extremely deadly that not splitting up is basically a sure-fire way to have PC fatalities.
>>52814599
That still means that focusing fire is the optimal combat tactic.
Either way, the Riddle of Steel has a virtually unplayable group vs. group combat system. It was built for one-on-one duels and only one-on-one duels. Trying to resolve the rules for splitting up opponents in a group vs. group battle is totally nightmarish.
>>52814468
I am trying to tackle this problem with a home brew I am working on. I want combat to feel more cinematic like you mentioned. Doing away with initiative and having arbitrary turn orders might help. Taking things in an a,b,a,b order might reduce dog piles.
Honestly though, part of the problem is players fight like villains. They will do whatever it takes to win and want to crush their enemies in the most opportunistic way they can come up with. That's a hard mentality to counter with rules.

A post-apocalyptic flooded world set in a lovecraftian Victorian England. Black magic and bio-mechanic horrors a plenty. It'll be a seafaring campaign where you have your own ship. We have three players so far so at most I'd like two more players.

Is this just a regular mortals game or do players have special options?
How do you play a vibrant, flirtatious, flamboyant character when you're nothing like that yourself? I'm signing up to play one, and I'm usually pretty good at getting in my character's heads and playing the -character-
(at least, I think so), but I'm worried I just don't have the guts, the cojones, or equivalent to put myself out there for this specifically.Tell me it's gonna be alright, teeg.

I know that's an age-old argument or something, but really, I don't think I'd find that satisfying and it wouldn't convey the character I'm hoping to convey. So even if it worked mechanically, it's a wash.
>>52813917
