Anyone else interested in settings like RWBY, FF15, or Pokemon that operate via standard fantasy tropes but also have modern or advanced technology and culture?
Is there an official genre or subgenre for settings like this? What are some of your favorite examples?

Also feel free to post images related to this subject.
It generally fits under the umbrella of Urban Fantasy, I should think
Shadowrun is basically the poster child for science fantasy. Gurps could also work with it.
How do we fix the MYFAROG system?
>>52825858
Throw it in the trash where it belongs and play something else entirely.
Make it a video game. This will solve nothing at all but its faults will be less pronounced
> fix
Seems like it was going strong, my local game stores (even GWs) had a strong Blood Bowl community, tournaments and everything. Then when Shadow War Armageddon popped up, the scene completely vanished and has yet to recover. Not only that, but no new Blood Bowl stuff up on the preorders for a while is making me think GW is starting to kill off Blood Bowl again. What do you guys think?
>>52825728
blood bowl was a mistake...
us millennial neckbeards hate football, so reintroducing it to the table top with our warhammer minis wasn't exactly a genius idea

Don't know why people are shilling for SW:A so much, it isn't even that great. But hey, GW fanbois will eat up any old slop that GW makes, even a shitty reboxing of old normally unwanted models (especially orcs) with some decent terrain.

Yes, but why would you even need anything else?

I would move to the town where this could happen.

Malagra Agent Smith edition
First use of superglue subedition
The Caladius looked at too many old memes, Russ and Magnus had a metaphorical Bane moment and Custodes should stick to walking. Jetbikes can't drift-charge properly and anons made way better ones. Thallax remain unspooked in the face of Alpharius infiltrating into Lorgar despite their Secutarii leaving to play pirates with Magos Coatl. Possessed Terminators walked on the contradictory sands of Istvaan, Archmagi had inconclusive duels with Praetors and survived by body-hopping into the Fallout series. Secutors are beaten by Black Templar witchery, but survive to witness Magos Columbus set sail from the old bread to the new: >>52809536

What would your character's Shadow be like?
>>52824864
My fake personality that I think have. I depressed myself once by self-examining my hidden flaws.
>>52824864
the orc warrior I played would have had a shadow who was a student scholar
he liked learning things but also felt that asking questions was relinquishing authority which he'd never do, so he tended to avoid researching things that interested him
his character arc was mostly about getting over that
Technically if you already accept yourself, you won't have any problem with your "Shadow" so no point in trying to figure anything on them.

What is the best big dino in seraphon?
I want a shooty army with strong heroes.

What's the most unusual/weirdest type of lich?
Pic kinda of related: a lich(she is more like a ghost in the anime) that is a shopkeeper. Also boobs for attention.
The Atomic Lich
An old, recurring NPC of mine in many of my campaigns is an ancient bridge troll lich, based somewhat on A Troll in Central Park. Usually tens of thousands of years old, often having existed even before some of the mortal races.
Thing is, he still has his flesh and is in a constant state of regrowing it. Has a black thumb, too, as reference to his inspiration, that effectively does the exact opposite of Stanley's. Otherwise, he's True Neutral, leaning toward Law, and is often associated with certain human monarchies, having helped established their rule in the past as a means of lasting asylum.

>Pic kinda of related: a lich(she is more like a ghost in the anime) that is a shopkeeper. Also boobs for attention.
She's not exactly a traditional lich, but when you take a moment to think about it she's not too implausible. Sure, we all know she has to be a pretty girl to get the attention of Japanese otaku, but it's not beyond what I imagine a lich would look like. Liches are powerful mages, bound to a state of undeath through forbidden magic. In fantasy they usually end up being skeletons because their flesh had decayed and only the skeleton remains through the dark arts. But if such a lich would choose to preserve her fleshy body for whatever reason (her reason could be as simple as vanity or as justified as wanting to blend in with normal humans) it would be peanuts for her. Even if we approach this in D&D terms "gentle repose" is a 2nd level spell. It lasts ten days, so she could cast it every week to preserve her body in the same waylying whoresapply make-up every morning.
In other words, she could be a legit traditional lich. The skeleton is just hiding inside of the bodyjust like the skeleton hiding in yours
Can Space Marines quit? We know that hypno-conditioning isn't perfect and that marines fall to chaos or go renegade often enough to give rise to chaos warbands. What if one wanted to become a farmer, or teacher to mankind?
>>52823084
>Can Space Marines quit?
They can but they don't want to. Space Marines love their job.
They get a flat look from the Chaplain and told pick up the damn bolter. You get to fight, make maintain wargear, heal brothers, or a combination thereof.

What system would you use to play a game set in the Guild Wars setting? Obviously GW1 era none of this 2 shit
Which continent is best?
Also post bitchin concept art if you want I guess
If you can get cheap/free copies Guild Wars 1 actually makes a really badass coop RPG.
>Which continent is best?
BATTLE ISLES
Honestly, I'd probably do it the hard way and wrap homebrew fluff and mechanics around basic shit to try and capture the right feelings. I'm still playing GW1 regularly and it's already set up and written in a way that begs for tabletop.
>>52821055
Believe it or not, D&D 4e feels like it would fit best, for me. So much of GW is in the combo of abilities not just between your two professions but those of your party-- which was what 4e design really shone for.

Is there any particular reason why so many tabletop players look down on video games when discussing the mechanics of a system? I mean, I know that tabletop is more open-ended than the average final fantasy game but even the best tabletop system is limited by the DM.
Like you can't necessarily say "I'm going to stab these mofos in their sleep" in some games, you can't kill/pillage/rape NPCs in some games, you don't always have the option to play evil characters in certain campaigns, you sometimes can't even run away from an encounter or use persuasion if the DM isn't one that allows for that sort of thing to happen for one reason or another.
I mean, video games can give people just as many ideas as books, anime, music, etc. so why exactly should we pretend that video games are somehow lesser because of their perceived limitations?
I use the HOMM V spell book as a system for available spells.INT dictates available mana, etc.
>>52819972How did it work?
>>52820441
Alignment dictates one of the main spell types available for your character, regardless of species.
>Any good being light magic.
>Any neutral being summoning magic.
>Any evil being dark magic.
Destructive magic is available for the most offensive class builds.
The STR, CON, and DEX of the parties characters is then divided into two then split up between familiars and the like.
>Five characters, overall having 50 STR, 34 DEX, and 80 CON.
>50 creatures, 1 STR, 0.5 DEX, 1.5 CON for fairness.
INT and WIS dictate mana and spellpower respectively.
CHA would dictate how many soldiers and familiars are willing to join, even creatures of the opposite alignment and species.
It even lowers gold costs of equipment, artefacts, and soldiers.
Overall....fairly well, and then the human character became a queen and was cursed with an evil firstborn.
