Political games are inherently shit, but Savage Worlds has good rules for large combats as well as mass combat, and also has muskets. Search "savage worlds test drive" on google and the first result should be a PDF with the basic rules.

The invention of Dune-style personal shields increase demand for melee weapons. Finnish knives are among the most prized.

The apocalyptic state of the setting means most vehicles or ships or whatever need to get by on mad-max level custom repairs. Finnish redneck mechanics become renowned.

The end of the world can happen at any moment. It could be in the morning, it could be in the evening, it could be at the total ass crack of dawn when you just finished having a night of getting smashed with your companions and having just finished the weirdest game of 'never have I ever'. Look, worlds can be boring when you're not fighting evil or fleeing from the police for a vigilante murder. On a related note, I now know more about birds and bird trivia than I ever wanted to. Thank you, Bastion.

Then everything changed when the Roidmudes attacked.

I had set the date aside for the Global Freeze because I had been expecting it. What I wasn't expecting was it happening a month ahead of schedule. Slowdown hit us and the population like a truck full of lag and a bunch of Roidmudes armed with pulse munitions from Overwatch and what looked similar to late cyborg technology from Metal Gear cornered us. Guns drawn and pointed to me.

I was saved, mercifully, by the intervening of tiny cars and a strange device that hooked up to my Driver. Not wasting anytime, I activated it with the new tiny car technology, and transformed again into a Kamen Rider. And now, I could move in the slowed time…!

Turns out that was step one. Steps 2 through 10 were actually beating the Roidmudes back before making a fighting retreat. Lucas complained about all the weird and downright terrifying monsters that existed in this world, while Bastion was immediately fond of our new friends. When we tried to figure out how we got this sudden burst of help -

"Helloooo~! It's the special Roidmude Unit-Hope, here to help!" My belt cheerily said. "Here to help the handsome Anon beat back those silly malfunctioning units, and bring peace and love to the whole world!"

…

All of them. Mainly because, 1/3 were warfroged, two were kobolds (so they don't even remember there father), and the rest were either tribals, or one of the lizardfolk that don't even have males to begin with.

Orbital piracy with safe heaven within the aereal space of rival colonies. When there's plenty humans, things get messy.

Deep space piracy one is much more difficult to pull off since there's no way to hide.

Of course. You can mix/max the hell out of it with that system. You could even give all the bad stats to just one character while everyone can be awesome.

Yeah, yeah, it's technically not tabletop, but it's one of my favorite cardgames ever. It's closing down in a month, but it made all the cards free in the mean time.

I finally got someone to play the most recent DBZ card game with me again, which was nice. Probably gonna try and track down what cards I'm missing when I get the chance.

The developers really dragged their feet with sets and organized play, and then tried to make more sets than they really needed. As a result, the game lost a lot of following early on and they only got about halfway through the source material.

I actually started working on a few for fun cards for MP's they didn't get to and new formats, just for fun for my friends and I, and was considering doing some stuff for DBS when I get the chance but I need to sit down and actually work on it all at some point.
