Recent purchases thread
Just picked this up for an upcoming campaign
I have some cozy memories of getting that for Christmas and cracking it open at my grandma's house.
>>53042874
Extremely cozy
I didn't get into tabletop until I was older, but I do have my share of great grandma's house nostalgia opening presents.
>>53042893
Glad to have you on board with the hobby.
I've saved a lot of my old 90's DnD books and Dragon magazines. The mechanics of that era are clunky and unintuitive but the art, creativity, and background is pretty nice.
There was a sort of purity since they didn't have Wizards(Hasbro) breathing down their necks demanding huge profits. Really oddball shit like Spelljammer and Dark Sun, tourist guides about different Forgotten Realms cities, boxed sets with audio CDs included, etc.

Whatever happened to Cenanon?
>>53042012
Nah more like Pic Related. Be careful with this one, it's a little rough.
>>53042431
Does it matter? Im glad that meme posting wanker is gone.
Remember, john cena can beat elder gods in a fist fight and the byzantine empire is a meme.
I hope we get Thunder Warriors 2.0
Mindless berserkers with a hilariously short shelf life?
>>53041483
>>53041541
Yeah, I want this too, as well as mass produced football teams of unstable chaos marines.
>>53041483
Why would you want worse space marines when Sisters, Skitarii and Scions already exist?
Welcome back! Yesterday was pretty slow, but I'm happy to answer any questions you may have about Magic rules and tournaments and whatnot.
>>53040481
When will the Ineffable One return?
>>53040481
I sacrifice a fetchland (flooded stra, for example). Am I forced to put a plains or an island into the battlefield or, even if in my deck I've some W/U lands, or I can decide to not take any?
>>53040523
Next Sunday, AD.
>>53040532
If you're ever searching a hidden zone (like your library) for a card of a stated quality (for example, "An Island or Plains card"), you can 'fail to find' even if there are cards of that quality to -be- found. If you want to crack a fetchland and find nothing, even though you have appropriate lands, you totally can.
This is why if you get Mindslavered with fetches, you should really crack them before they take over your turn and just cast free Victorious Destruction on all your fetches.
Requesting a pic of a somewhat modestly dressed succubus. I need it for the character portrait of a Tiefling character I'm rolling up, but I don't want to give anyone the impression that she's fetish fuel magical realm bait.
In return, here's a pic of a "typically dressed" succubus.
>>53039745
Anon, that IS a modestly dressed succubus.
That you, Umbra?

>When someone calls on the law for help... be he mutie... alien... cyborg... or human... The law cannot turn a blind eye! AND I AM THE LAW!
It is the dawn of the 22nd century. Following the atomic wars begun by the last American president, Robert Booth, the world has changed. Humanity survives in the Mega Cities, vast urban conurbations where mass automation and high technology has ensured that almost total unemployment. The restless population is kept in line by the oppressive rule of the Judges, who stand ever ready to break those who break the Law. Even among this fearsome body one stands out above all the others; Judge Joseph Dredd.
Beyond the Mega Cities lies the radioactive, mutant-haunted wasteland to which the old world was reduced: The Cursed Earth. Today we will be looking at one of the first stories to deal with this nightmare environment in an epic story called, oddly enough, The Cursed Earth. The episodic narrative lends itself well as the basis for RPG storylines, not just those set in Dredd’s world: who doesn’t enjoy a ragtag band of misfits making a perilous journey across a dangerous environment, saving lives and defeating terrible enemies like rat cults, mad robots, mutant slavers, dinosaurs andRonald McDonald. Yes, we’re doing the infamous and only recently unbanned from publication Burger Wars. This story also features Judge Dredd at his most straightforwardly heroic rather than some of his later, more cynical portrayals, which could be helpful for players of lawmen, knights and others of a lawful-good persuasion who still want a little uncompromising edge.
The Cursed Earth was largely written by Pat Mills (Nemesis the Warlock, ABC Warriors Slaine, Requiem, Punisher 2099) rather than John Wagner or his then writing partner Allan Grant, who together have produced more classic Dredd material than any other author. Mills always pushed for Dredd to be more of a heroic figure than either Wagner or especially Grant, which might seem odd considering his almost all of his other major characters are utter, utter bastards. The Cursed Earth was his actually his second attempt to correct what he saw as a major flaw in Dredd as a protagonist, that he is an “automaton character” responding robotically to plot developments with little internal conflict. His first attempt to correct this problem was the short “The Return of Rico” which introduced (and summarily dispatched) Dredd’s evil clone brother.
In keeping with traditional Pat Mills storytelling, however, expect things to go off the rails at some point and terrible, terrible jokes.
North America in Dredd’s world at this point in time had three Mega Cities. Mega City One, the first and largest of its kind in the world, stretched from the poisoned Atlantic Ocean to somewhere around Ohio and from parts of Canada down towards Florida. The slightly smaller Mega City Two spread out all along the west coast of the US. Mega City Three quickly abandoned its original name and declared itself Texas City, claiming dominion over Lake Louisina and the mutie territories of what was once the South. Other Mega Cities included Brit-Cit (and its suburbs Cal-Hab and Murphyville), Euro-Cit, East Meg One and Two, Hong Tong, Hondo City, Sydney–Melbourne Conurbation and Ciudad Barranquilla. The moon, Titan, and other deep space colonies are also human-occupied.
In the years since this story several of them, most notably East Meg One, have been destroyed.
Why are you still playing 5e instead of Shadow of the Demon Lord, /tg/?
>bane/boon system is more flexible than advantage/disadvantage, while being just as easy
>classes are more diverse and less thematically restrictive
>stat bonus scaling is more intuitive
>combat is MUCH faster, because slimmed down initiative system
>spells are more diverse
>casting makes more sense
>character sheet is much simpler, while still allowing for a diverse range of builds
>professions fit better into an rpg style narrative game than skill proficiencies
>PCs scale through the ability to do better and cooler things instead of HP and proficiency bonus
>insanity rules that can be easily removed from the game if desired
The best system for a not long campaign, hands down.
>>53032921
Writer's eye removal fetish.
im interested in Zweihander for a more grimdark and deadly experience. Does this system do a better job at it ?
Does FR have dark elves and drow, or are drow the dark elves? I thought there were, like, tan/brown elves in addition to the drow.
>>53032378
The Sun, Wild, and Wood elves are said to have 'bronze', 'dark brown', and 'copper' skin respectively.
Drow used to be dark elves, before they were hit by a subrace-wide curse when a portion of them were total asshats, then all of them were driven under the earth by the ordinary elves, where they dwell to this day.
When Eilistraee (temporarily) died, any good drow that weren't descended from the genuinely evil dark elves were given the opportunity to revert to their natural dark elf state that looks much like your stereotypical waifubait hentai brown elf.
>>53032674
Note when they say Bribze and Copper they actually mean it. Wild and Sun Elves look freaky.

> Thread Question:
What's different about your setting?
>>53031248
>What's different about your setting?
It's set on a moon rather than a planet.
The moon orbits a gas giant, along with eight others.
It takes the moon a year to go around the gas giant. It takes the gas giant full thirty years to go around the sun.
Seasons are born out of how much the gas giant blocks the sun. Winters are completely dark. In addition there's a second set of seasons borne out of their positions respective to the sun, each of which lasts more than seven years. So you get two sets of seasons, with sixteen different combinations.
Doublewinters are a bad time, man.
>>53031248
>What's different about your setting?
It doesn't try to be different or anything
>>53031248
>What's different about your setting?
Almost everything is made of elementals. https://coinsandscrolls.blogspot.ca/2017/03/osr-what-does-elemental-want.html
There's one God, he is omnipotent, but he can't see the future and he can't fix his own mistakes. Everything takes place on the same "plane" or world. You can tunnel to hell or fly to heaven if you're really persistent.
And the usual races didn't turn up. You've got froglings and toadlings instead.
or at least more boring?
magic has two styles now:
- technically accomplished but kinda generic 'realistic' art
- lazy attempt at realism that looks like a PS2 cutscene
pic related - wtf is this??
at least the bad art in the past was often bad in an interesting, charming way, this is just bad & soulless
>>53030153
It's the culmination of several things.
1) WotC wants a very specific set design. They want new looking, fresh feeling art with a cohesive theme and color palate for each set and block.
2) WotC is incredibly stingy when it comes to paying for art. They pay as little as possible, send payments late, or sometimes don't pay for commissions at all.
3) Because of 2, artists do the bare minimum amount of work required to fulfil the request. Why spend days on something you're barely getting paid to do? So, instead of taking the time and doing a piece right, they spend 3 or 4 hours at most to do a good enough job.
>>53030617
Where did you hear #2 from? From the artists I've heard from, WOTC pays some of the best rates for fantasy art commissions.

I just really felt the need to share this. This is why roll20 is a meme at this point. Most games aren't this bad, but this is an example of a no go zone. Post more no go zones, so we show new people where not to play.

Wow that's really awful. Fuck.
>>53028405
Anything that is advertised in /pfg/
Unless you're into that kind of thing, in which case more power to you
>>53028405
This reads like someone who has either never played/run a game before or someone who is taking the piss out of roll20.
I refused to think that someone is this dense without collapsing into a singularity.

> Their a human variant it says due to having human DNA so cant be hunted as xenos.
Is this what they meant by the grim dark future of war? An army of cat girls?
That guy looks pissed.
Just finding out about this but doesnt seem like its heresy due to the homo sapien DNA that is their underlying being.
Judging from the few pictures I have seen I assume they are in the Imperial Guard? Wondering if we will get a space marine chapter of these cat like people much like the Space Wolves who are half-wolf/half-human/half-space marine.

Felenids are probably like Retarded Khajiit.

Read the 3e core book (link below). For mechanics of the old edition, play this tutorial: http://mengtzu.github.io/exalted/sakuya.html

What do anons of Onyx Path's new delivery model with "antagonist of the week" ?
>>52963220
Previous thread.
>>53010514
Well, judging by the picture and nothing else, I'd say they should stop shopping on tumblr for villains, because that haircut screams tumblr to me.
>>53010572
They're Onyx Path. They don't just shop at Tumblr, they LIVE there.
The grand evil wizard has hired you to fill his mega dungeon with stuff, he'll pay you by making your waifu real
Choose a number in the rooms and fill it with something, same with the letters on the hallway
>>53005405
Room 49 is filled with lava
>>53005405
Room 33 is filled with my waifu
>>53005405
Room 85 is empty, except for an end table with a mediocre vase.
Room 85's closet, however, is stuffed full of undead skeletons.
YOU KNOW THE DRILL, BOIZ!
Simple requests, simple drawings, and fun!
Could you draw this with a generic rogue?
