What's a cool sidearm for my character that is a heavily armoured tacticool dungeoneer with a "not a riot shield" style shield and repeating crossbow? He also likes throwing bottles of holy water, molotovs, flasks of oil or acid, and caltrops.
I was thinking a bayonet or some kind of compact steel club.
bar mace
telescopic mace
blunderbuss (shoot once at close range, then use as cudgel)
>>53109872
Slap a bayonet on that crossbow.
TWO bayonets...yeah...
A sap, or a net stick. Or brass knuckles.

What do the antagonists in your games tend to be like (dependent on the splat you play) and which one of them was the absolute best? Please go into as much detail as possible.

>How can other doggo tribes compete?
Not much really, at their best the Get of Fenrir is one of the best tribes. However that is at their best, at their worst they are hypocrites, who would either enable shitty leadership just for glory or take power themselves just measuring fighting strength and declaring everything else as "weak".
So at their worst they are the Fianna. And nobody likes the Fianna.

There was once a Tau thread discussing all the various elements of the Tau empire in which there were a few mentions of Astartes that willingly joined the legions of the greater good. I propose a thread wherein we discuss further the possibilities of such a faction.
I had made mention of the general qualities of the Astartes serving under the Tau. Their leader is old. Really old. Not old enough to have met a primarch or anything, but old enough, like the vast majority of their numbers to become tired of it all. Tired of the constant service to an emperor who hears not their prayers, tired of the unending centuries of war, wrapping up one campaign against a faceless, nameless enemy, only to be shipped to another planet, another war, another exterminatus.
He had grown weary some time ago, and when his ship was destroyed on the way to yet another battle, he awakened from his Sus-An sleep to find himself amongst none but the dead. Knowing not who had attacked, or how, he knew only that his brothers were dead all around him, the ship devoid of power, his hope-devoid heart accepting reality, that here, in the black of the abyss, was where it ended. And then the ship arrived.
Xenos in origin, its very nature an abomination in his eyes, and to further compound the blasphemy, it was crewed mostly by human hands. They brought him aboard, upon condition of the surrender of his weapons, gave him a wide berth, and a choice. He could sieze command of the vessel, pilot it back to imperium space, where, if the crew were not already dead by his hand, they would certainly be killed for heresy and treason; he could go wherever he wanted, the ship could take him anywhere in known space he could desire, given enough time; or he could join them, and experience more freedom in the next year as a nameless insignificant man, than he had experienced in ten average lifetimes of imperial service.
Thus he surrendered his armor and identity as an astartes and was taken to a gue'vasa world, where he breathed his first truly free breath. No empire to order him, no weight of armor to restrain him, no weaponblade or gun to remind him. He took up the simple joy of farming, no authority, or responsibility, no victory to aspire to, no failure to be dissapointed by. Thus a year had passed.
And then they came.
Word came in late winter upon his world of friends and neighbors that a tyranid splinter was moving his way, orbital defense cannons would slow, and diminish it, but it WOULD make planetfall, and it would seek to consume all on the speck of rock he had come to call home. The Xenos that governed his world had called for reinforcements. They would arrive a day after the nemesis. 39 hours of planetary revolution would see no opposition save his human allies, their local masters, and the man himself.
The governor informed him of this and one further development: In advance of reinforcements had arrived an old friend. The capsule opened and revealed what he had once considered his very hand and will. An old friend indeed, his armor and armaments had kept him alive through countless fights, scarred, battered, but intact. Returned to him now, studied for a year by their finest scientists, repair and retrofit with their finest technologies. He would lead the fight against the menace. He would hold his speck in space. His endless war had ended, he intended to see it remain so.
Thus it was that he came to fight for what was once an insignificant faction, overlooked or butchered given the mood of the administratum on any given day. He had become the defender of his world, standing shoulder to shoulder with a new family of brothers. scavenging what relics found in the wreckage of his former caste, recovering any left for dead by the imperium.
Most chose to die rather than betray the values they held sacred. One in a thousand would choose to join him in defending those the empire, and emporer had shunned. A ruined dreadnoght rebuild into a riptide. A terminator that survived his termination. countless thousands of bodies yielded hundreds of survivors yielded dozens of the old, like he, the tired, the presumed dead who wished more than presumption, but accepted the cause of defending humanity yet more, albeit among strange and despised bedfellows.

trash example, but it technically works.
I played a slaaneshi psyker in a dark heresy game that had an incredibly celibate view of pretty much all luxury. He wore brown woolen robes, ate tasteless paste for sustenance and would wear a respirator to make sure he never smelt anything pleasant. His whole philosophy was that Slaanesh was not just the god of excess, but of DESIRE. And so he tried to instill in himself an insatiable lust for all things. And once he took his rightful place as a true daemon of Slaanesh, the Imperium would know what true desire looks like.
He was killed by that FUCK of a khorne player once the npc boss was killed, and all the PC's vied for his position.

None, just like the players. Duh.
Everyone sees goblins as primitive tribal folks, but I think /tg/ can do better. What would a society look like where goblins weren't forced into the fodder role?
For a good baseline, lets assume Pathfinder base goblins. Here are the stats for a goblin character per the PFSRD:
Ability Score: +4 Dexterity, –2 Strength, and –2 Charisma.
Type: Goblins are humanoids with the goblinoid subtype.
Size: Goblins are Small creatures and thus gain a +1 size bonus to their AC, a +1 size bonus on attack rolls, a –1 penalty to their CMB and CMD, and a +4 size bonus on Stealth checks.
Base Speed: 30 feet.
Languages: Goblins begin play speaking Goblin. Bonus: Common, Draconic, Dwarven, Gnoll, Gnome, Halfling, and Orc.
Skilled: +4 racial bonus Ride and Stealth
Darkvision: 60 feet.
With those possibilities, where would goblins come in?
Lets stay away from:
>ninja goblins
>some form of Tucker's kobolds goblins
>>53098854
Probably criminal gangs living in the gutters, slums, shanty towns, and favelas of human cities. The pecking order is based on who's the biggest and meanest, differences humans have trouble distinguishing.
>>53098890
>kleptocratic goblins
I could get behind that. Well-dressed natty goblins who love their flashy jack knives and work in teams. Too weak to pull strong-arm gigs and too uncharismatic to be conmen, they use their skills to do housework. Second storymen, coat charms, etc.
And then there's the danger of pissing them off. Other gangs can't afford to lose a member, much less 10 to violence. Goblin ganglords will throw 20 goblin 'prospects' to take out someone who pissed them off. Little anklebiters will drag down bigger men by sheer numbers, and their knives.
But that doesn't bring in a full society necessarily. It just sort of gives a community.
>>53098854
I fluff goblins as lesser fae, who are therefore born of spontaneously in muck and swamps. As such, they are led by the few goblins who have mastered alchemy to extend their short lives using expendable goblin test subjects to perfect their formulae for prolonged life and create chemical abominations. They actually created Orcs as a mistake trying to create a true-breeding goblin master race.
Remember to cheese the shit out of your local league edition.

I know I'm a bit late, but this is the most retarded list I've ever seen. For starters, boltguns can't deal with everything, get some bloody variety in there. Then there's the fact that a Gunner can't actually start with a boltgun, read their wargear properly. Then finally
>Sister with no guns at all
>just a fucking combat knife
You realise pistols aren't free right?
How viable are Imperial Guard/Astra Militarum ?
Is it best to get 2 plasmas from the get go and keep everyone else a basic bitches until you can upgrade?
With the wargear shit, does that apply to starting list building or the entire campaign?
It seems to imply that a unit can never use weapons outside of their wargear in the Resupply option, but I don't really understand why I can't have a Chaos Marine with a power fist or somesuch. Also, where the fuck are lightning claws?

Good morning and welcome back!
Morning GA.
Question at prerelease my girlfriend got two prerelease promos(both in the same little plastic wrap) is that ok? I know if you open it you can play it but what about mistakes like that.
What about when magister of worth was spoiled in an unrelated prerelease?
>>53058825
So, either of those cases are what we call "Abnormal Product". For the extra promo, the options are "leave it", "replace the pack it came from", or "have the player add a random card from the rarity of the extra to their trade binder". So our options would be to say 'play on with 2 promos', let you KEEP those promos but get you a new promo-pack from another unopened kit and have that be part of your pool, or just pick a random rare from the pool to 'remove' from the pool. For a prerelease, I'd probably just pick one of those two at random, rather than ALL the rares, since it's easier to fix- assuming the TO isn't willing to gut a prerelease pack for another promo.
For the Magister of Worth thing, that would also be abnormal product. I'd basically treat it as though that card wasn't supposed to be in the pack, meaning your pack is one card short. If your pack is SHORT, the HJ can open up a booster and pick a random card of that rarity to replace the 'missing' one. So if you got a Magister of Worth instead of a rare in your Totally Not Conspiracy pack, we'd let you keep that Magister (obv), and I'd open another pack of Totally Not Conspiracy and give you the rare from THAT pack. If it was a common, I'd open the pack and give you a random common from it, etc.
What's up GA, if I have a summoner's egg and donate it to my opponent, when it dies my opponent will get the creature right? So if I imprinted a Phage they'll die right?
Join us! We got crucifixions!

What is the most ridiculous thing you or one of your players has done in a game?
what would a heavily armed river boat be armed with for ork hunting?
i want it to be like the famous PBR, which had a twin linked .50cal, two 7.62mm machine guns, and the ability to use 40mm grenade guns
thats a lot of dakka for one boat, but boats can hold more guns so it should be alright

I'm about to start a DH2 game, and I'm making my first ever psyker. The plan is to go heavily into biomancy and telepathy, with a later smattering of Sanctic Daemonology. Are there any other powers I should consider picking up because of their versatility/utility, or 'trap' powers I should avoid? The GM has hinted our inquisitor is going to be radical... how can I prepare for this? I'm expecting daemonhosts.
