Getting players on the same page for genre expectations ad power levels before the game starts is incredibly important for super games. If you have someone trying to be squirrel girl and someone trying to be punisher and someone trying to be Silver Surfer, one or all of them are going to end up disappointed

Class B: Epics who awaken at Level B are considerably stronger but develop at least one mental illness when they awake. This mental illnesses can range from Paranoia too full blown anti-social personal disorder. Most Class B's tend to become Villains due to this but some strive to be heroic despite the inner demons that plague them.

Strong Class B's can go toe to toe with military units and even win in the right circumstances.

Class C: High Level Epics. Superman shit right there. The sudden influence of so much power without any time to adjust completely shatters their mind. These guys don't have a singular mental illness. They are stuck in their own autistic mind. Normal humans and lower class epics are unable to communicate with them. Its not clear if they communicate with each other but at least they tend to flock together into small teams.

They show erratic behavior. Short and intense city destroying outbursts of violence and long periods of being stuck in their own mind unable to really interact with the outside world (except when they are physically threatened).

These guys are my S-Level threats, my Godzilla. The looming threat in the Dark.

What are the best "pure" blue draw spells?
Is recurring insight worth it? Also, why do so many people consider fact or fiction to be so good?

Requesting the continuing adventures of Urza the orc gladiator, and her number one fan.

Someone suggested having Urza training her fan, who is grown up to a teenager. I liked this idea, but to make is a little comical Urza could be trying to put her through her own training regime that the girl clearly does not have the upper body strength to follow.

E.G. girl trying to perform a downward smash with Urza's metal pike but its weight is simply teetering her backward.
Urza is weight lifting small boulders with ease and the girl is struggling to get one, half the size, off the ground.
etc. (if you can think of other cute training scenarios that they are trying.)

I mean, if its your first time ever looking at the game, they're probably simpler and easier to grasp. MoS/MoF is way simpler, the game has much more concrete examples of how to use superior/critical results in any situation, movement and actions is way more clear in how they work and much less GM arbitration. The new pools mean that you don't just dump everything into MOX, depending on what your character does you might split them between the four (which makes it a bit closer to GUMSHOE honestly).

For us followers of 1E, I think there's still some questions and even concerns because the playtest is being gradually released so people will actually read each section and give feedback (some of which is already terrible) and parts of it are still in editing and formatting. We'll have to see the whole.

If conversion is so easy though, no reason you can't keep playing 1E and just reverse engineer the 2E materials - I suspect there will be several fan projects to that effect once 2E is fully fleshed out.

Only a story in the making, but my latest character in some cyberpunk game is an ex-military big tough guy (that somehow ended up as the party's moral compass after a truck-of-whores-related incident) who ended up working as additional security for some idol's concert. And I'm strongly considering making him a fan.

Well, the last thread was more about the video game and its lore, but we didn't get far when it comes to how to turn this into a tabletop game.

Hallo /tg/ people,
I'm currently very upset with my so called "friends" because they don't want to keep playing the board games I want to play with them. The main reason for this may be their marihuana addiciton and the resulting lack of balls. They could not stick anything longer than 1-2 rounds.

I don't know what to do but to be angry anymore and I am asking you for advice, ideas, offensive words or even contemplation. The games are DnD Adventure Games, Descent first ed., Mage Knight Board Game, Terraforming Mars, 7 Wonders and Legends of Andor.

As you might be able to tell, I have tried a variety of games. But what does it take to stick with it for some time? For example, I wish for someone to play through all descent campaigns with. I doesn't matter if we ever play it again after that, but I want to finish it. I regularly think that those guys (my playgroup friends) are lazy, fearsome and weak for the most basic reasons like losing a game for once, experiencing hardships due to acutal difficulty of the game or craving drugs before playing. I can hardly respect their judgement after the first and only round, when they just learned the overall rules. I am close to visiting my friends for one last time, finally yelling at them, calling them the losers they actually are and destroy our friendship over all of this. Is this really worth it?

When you talk about game balance - that isn't an 'opinion'. That is a look at how the game mechanics work combined with win/loss ratios for different factions and can be verified as fact. (This is one of the complaints that people who play games competitively have about Terra Mystica - some races routinely lose even in the hands of a skilled player, and others routinely win even in the hands of a low skill player due to game mechanics.) In your CitOW example - you're talking about a player who either makes *bad choices* which costs them game (counter-intuitive to the point of the game - which is winning) or they're purposely playing 'King Maker' to intentionally allow someone else to win. Neither of which is a design flaw on the part of the game designer. And this issue isn't limited to Ameritrash games or conflict driven games.

I played 7 Wonders with a group of new players a couple months ago. I told everyone at the start of the first game how much of an advantage that science cards are worth when scoring (and everyone had player aids showing the cards and points scoring system.) Sure enough I look over later and one player has nearly 3 full sets of science cards and ended up scoring a run-away victory. After that, the players were a lot more mindful of what their neighbors were collecting and no more run-away science victories.

It's an effective way to be stupid and try too hard to be dark and edgy

Also, the reason Spidicules is good for Cooking is that it gives a chance to pull an event that has a chance to roll for a Vermin? I was hoping that you could use Silk to substitute for one ingredient, or gain a movement as a bonus or something..

To the anon asking about The Hand, I can't say. My friend and I both lost high courage guys because we only had 6 survivors we cared about and were fine losing 2 instead of 4 to the Timeline event.
