I shall pollute 5e with another homebrew of mine. Looking for criticisms and yada yada. General preface as always is that these are just mechanics I have come up with that I thought would make the archetype desirable, and have not yet been fine tuned or nerfed from the original idea so I don't waste 2 hours fine tuning it just to realize it should be something else.
Feature names and numbers are subject to change, looking for fluff as well since the best I can think of is "Natural knack for controlling blood".
How do you do lootations?

No larger organization this campaign, our de-facto name throughout has been the "rib-ticklers," one of our PCs played a necromancer and we needed a name at the time that reallysticks to the ribs
Your party or player character gets a hold of a Mr. Meeseeks button.

What's that?
Post examples of great design in /tg/-related media.
Stuff that's unique, or that uses the medium in a creative way, or stuff that's just fun to fuck around with. I'll start.
>Unknown Armies: Sanity Tracker.
Unlike a simple linear scale, Unknown Armies uses a number of sanity tracks each devoted to a theme such as "Violence" or "Helplessness," and these tracks advance separately. What's more, each sanity check- pass or fail- leaves a permanent mark on your character sheet. A failed check leaves your PC traumatised, but blocking out the trauma will fuck up your empathy.
>>53128213
>New World of Darkness: Grappling Rules
The only grappling rules I've seen that aren't an abstract fucking mess. You want to do [thing] during grappling? Roll STR + Brawl - Enemy STR. Special training lets you do some special maneuvers during the grapplefest, but everything that a normal human being could do during a grapple is allowed. Simple, logical, efficient.
>>53128213
>Burning Wheel: Emotional Attributes
You're playing a non-human, they have powerful drives which humans don't. Great for making playing an elf or dwarf actually feel like a character who plays differently than a human would, not just a human with slightly different stats.
>>53128973
this. Also in Burning Wheel:
>Advance what you use
IMO is a better way to character advancement than levels and xp, though more bookkeep intensive. It really gives a feeling that your choices and the story mold the character.

What's a good system for a game set in the Quadrail universe? I tried kludging together a homebrew for some friends who read the books, but it never quite worked.
For those unfamiliar with the setting.
>Sci-fi, near future, tech is slightly more advanced than the present day, but nothing super paradigm changing, you don't have things like uploading brains to VR or to wholesale cybernetic replacement of bodies, etc.
>Only major change is that there IS FTL travel. This is dominated by a weird mechanical race known as the "Spiders", who hold a monopoly on the tech.
>They've used it to build these literal train stations in orbit of various systems, where you can ride trains/ships across the galaxy at a rate of roughly 1 lightyear a minute.
>The stations are essentially an elaborate illusion/security center. They don't want anyone else tumbling onto the secret of FTL, so they ban, and enforce this ban with extraordinarily sophisticated sensors, any weapons (and weapons is extremely broadly defined. "Glass bottles" are considered too dangerous to take on their trains), as well as any equipment which might help a curious scientist figure out how their FTL works.
>The books themselves deal with a cosmic menace that would get spoilery to talk about, but most of what we had envisioned for the campaigns would be kind of corporate investigation/espionage stuff, with frequent needs to travel and plan around what are largely rigid schedules of these trains, as well as switching on and off to environments where there are no weapons beyond what you can invent on the spot out of mostly very soft materials.
Anyone have any recommendations?
>>53127570
>most of what we had envisioned for the campaigns would be kind of corporate investigation/espionage stuff
That sounds like a cyberpunk game minus the cybernetics.
>>53128442
And with a vastly more faux-victorian tone rather than a dystopic one based on 1980s values.
But you think I should be looking to modify something like Shadowrun?
So, this is a question that doesn't deserve its own thread, so I'll post it here. What's a good system to use for a sci-fi setting that relies heavily on interplanetary travel, namely one with good ship mechanics? I'm trying to create the whole space-NEET feeling of Starbound while not actually basing it on the game (that game's lore isn't bad, though). I'm a Dee en Dee fag and so are my players, so I'm not familiar with any sci-fi systems.
Inb4 pic related. I'm not opposed to it, but I'd like some thing more specialized.
How come there are so many highly sexualized miniature franchises (Kingdom Death, Infinity most of the stuff by Raging Heroes and Soda Pop)?
Few years back, games like Confronation had a fapable mini or two, but mostly badass warriors and monsters and now its like I am expected to periodicaly jerk off while painting.
>>53127542
I dunno mayne. Nerds like cheesecake, I guess.
>>53127542
Advances in CAD and casting mean that companies can now make female minis that aren't fuck ugly. Necromunda and SoB had boob plate and stuff so it isn't really anything new. not to mention the Slaaneshi daemonettes with their tits out.
>>53127542
So you don't fap to badass warriors and monsters?
Fagget.

Practice helps. Like any new, complex skill, you can't expect to be very good at it at first. Can you tell us any specific issues you're having / they say you're having?
1. Most GM advice boils down to truisms and common sense. Don't be mean, remember the golden rule, communicate with everyone as clearly as you can, practice makes perfect, etc.
2. Some of the best advice you'll get is right in the rulebooks. You might not take the author's advice to heart immediately, but make sure to reread them on occasion, because you might find answers in them that you initially overlooked.
3. Your players know how well you GM best. Make sure they feel comfortable in giving you advice and criticizing you. Ask them what you can do to improve and what they want to see in your games. Pay attention to their likes and dislikes.
4. Make sure to read/watch whatever you can in relation to the genre of the game you are running. Constantly be mining material for ideas and inspiration. Listen to music, and try to imagine scenes in your game inspired by that music.
5. You might find it useful to record your sessions and to watch/listen to them to get a new perspective of your games. It might be painful at first, but it's an easy way to see for yourself what you might need to improve.

Some high level strategy and information in this article. What do you guys think?

I think that pure competitive play is a mistake.I would much rather go to a tournament where everybody plays then ranks their opponents based on how fun they were to play against. The point of games is fun. The point of tournaments is to win. As such, games which are focused on the tournament scene are destined to break.
>>53127340
I think that does a pretty good job of illustrating casual vs. competitive. This post does seem more geared toward the competitive scene obviously.
>>53127681
My point is that competitive play in general is a mistake. The goal should be to win, but you'll eventually end up with a perversion of the original game. Just look at chess. Moves are not evaluated at face value, or even several moves ahead: true masters just memorize nodal boards which relate to the greatest number of successful endgame boards and make move to reach those.

>Your will has King is a mighty thing indeed
/jc/, what are some magical realism settings we have jumps for? That is to say, what are some settings that have a single supernatural element in them, but are otherwise like the real world.
I'm asking specifically because I'm considering making a jump for such a setting, but I'd like to have some examples on how to balance the supernatural vs everyday stuff before committing to it.
Specifically in the setting I'm thinking about there is a single person with a single supernatural power, and everything else is real-world rules as far as anyone can tell. I'm having a hard time deciding where the line between overpowered for the everyday stuff and underpowered for the supernatural stuff is, and would like some examples to help me judge
Have you guys ever join any of the university clubs?
Like a board game association or some shit.

Surely they're not all equally matched, right?
Which do you think are stronger and why?
While I can't imagine which of these four are more powerful than the other, I do think that these four should be the most powerful four of them all considering they've been doing little other than building their power over the last 9,000 years. Moreso than the others, I mean. I feel like any daemon prince directly tied to one god has the ability to feed more easily than the others would. To make an analogy for it, chaos undivided is like a stew made of four main ingredients, so to make more of it you'd need to get more of all four ingredients which is harder than just getting more of one basic thing, which is why I think these four should be the strongest. Lorgar has been meditating and Perturabo has been doing who knows what. Maybe he found a crative way to reach the top spot, but who knows. In any case I'd say Lorgar's definitely going to be at the bottom of the list in terms of raw power. He's probably going to have some kind of gimmick to make him compete against the others, but what do you guys think?
>>53126436
>Surely they're not all equally matched, right?
Defiantly not.
Mortarion got defeated by Draigo with a single blow.
>>53126489
Could've happened to anyone.
>>53126489
Draigo knew Mortarion's true name. No more than 3 people in the galaxy have ever known it at one time, and one of them is the Emperor. In fact, the Emperor could have told Guilliman the true name of several, if not all of the Daemon Primarch, possibly making the total of four.

Tell me about factions in your campaign /tg/.
I use what amounts to the historical Hellfire Club for all the villanous noble characters in my game world and the Rosicrucians for the good ones. Most of the nobility are of course neutral, and I don't recall basing them on any particular organization. Political campaign, revolving around securing the rights to some slaves btw.
