Hey /tg/, is there a place with any stories about plague zombies in the 40k universe? I recall reading a few some time back, was trying to show them to a friend. General 40k thread too

They can't. Expect an embarrassing ass pull.

There's two ways I can see it happening: either Elricsson was the one dictating it had to happen, because it gave him a way of inserting more LARP related bullshit in the books or they just didn't really want to spend any money on artists.

Do sword and board fighters suck? Especially compared to two-handed GWM fighters. Since you get so many ASIs as a fighter, not picking up GWM if you fight two-handed is impossible.
>>53218508
I am going to run tomb of horrors what is a cool initial place?
also how many and which level should players be?
>>53218508
Sword and board fighters are great. That +2 AC is nothing to sneer at, and their damage with Dueling is comparable to heavy weapon damage without feats. And with feats, Shield Master means that you've got an active use of a bonus action every round with great control (and since you can do it before your attacks, having advantage against your target ups your average damage as well).
Speaking of feats, is Flail Mastery a good one? I can't imagine a PC ever fighting a lot of enemies with shields, but attacks of opportunity seem pretty nice.
>During a quest, you wind up defeating a cult trying to bring destruction to the land.
>You stopped them just as they were performing a binding ritual on a demon.
>The demon was not bound to any cult members, but has already become corporeal.
>Instead of lashing out or trying to kill any of your party, the demon is thankful that you freed it from servitude.
>More-so, it assumes you and your party are sympathetic to demonkind, and promises to help out his new "friends."
>Now whenever you try to do any quests, a demon pops out from the shadows and turns everything 0 to 10 real quick.
>Stop bandits? Demon has flayed and burned them alive.
>Save hostages? Demon teleported them from their cells through the hell dimension and outside, leaving them mentally scarred.

Shit cube bro ;^)
No, all things considered that looks pretty good though I do have a few remarks.
10 signets and 40 non-basic lands (and almost all of them tapping for 2+ colors) does give me concern that most decks are going to be 3 and 4 color foodstuff piles. Add some non-basic land hate like molten rain, dryad sophisticate, ghost quarter and spreading seas.
Brainstorm really isn't that good without shuffle effects, in most cases that means fetchlands (The mirage fetches are peasant cube all stars, consider adding them)
I don't see overarching themes or draft lines per se - which given how wizards has been fucking up sets by making them all about limited may not be a bad thing.
If this thread's up after locals I'll post and work on my cube.
How can you scientifically explain Mana?

Historically, Paladins waged an unchecked war of aggression for 300 years. They committed routine atrocities and looted and ransacked several cities.
Why does D&D try to distort this historical narrative?
>>53209452
Consider this: Muslims are chaotic evil and the Paladins were simply doing their jobs and smiting them.
>>53209452
Y'mean the response to the muslim aggression going on for the prior couple hundred?

it's not like the paladins fucked themselves up in the 4th Crusade by massacring off their own followers anyway, right?

Hopefully fucking soon. I have a game session to go to, and this release may very well mean the difference between D&D and checking out a playtest tonight with my group.

stop pretending that you disagree
Do you, as a GM, allow players to modify certain things about premade weapons, spells, etc?
Things like "Can I use a Khopesh that mechanically functions as a Scimitar?" or "Can I use this spell which has X element but with Y element instead?" or are you more a "by the book" GM? Pic unrelated.
>>53220504
I don't let them rebrand weapons unless they're functionally similar and not already covered by the books. For spells, they make their own to begin with, so that's not really a concern (they still require my approval, of course). There are plenty of rules for modifying equipment/weapons and extensive armor design rules, too, so it's not something I need to do work for besides making sure it's in line with the game.
Sure, as long as they're willing to take a penalty. So they can use a Khopesh that mechanically functions as a scimitar if they are OK with have a -1 to hit, for example, or they can change the element on one of their learned spells if they're OK with it doing 1 less damage per dice, etc. If you're getting something you gotta give something up.
>>53220504
>Do you, as a GM, allow players to modify certain things about premade weapons, spells, etc?
Absolutely, I prefer playing systems where doing that is just no big deal to begin with. I can see how it could lead to problems for more complex ones.

Kung Fu Panda is it?
So, I've got a bit of a problem player. He's always chiming in with setting details, and in the sort of game where we're running things more "classically", the GM writes the setting. I'm not talking things like character background, stuff related to them either, I'm talking big, big things like
>Setting is very deliberately ambiguous as to whether or not Gods exist, and if "divine" magic is really that different from "arcane" magic.
>lol, there are divination spells. Divination means contacting a divine, so there are clearly gods and they're just hiding for some reason.
>Players meet local baron requesting help with regular military forces for ongoing giant bug problem.
>He seems interested, but also evasive about actually promising support for their endeavors, not clear why.
>lol, he is really fighting a secret war against [particular church] and his forces are too tied down with that to actually deal with the bugs.
>local sherrif is really, really, really in character racist where dwarves are concerned. No dwarves in the party so it doesn't directly affect them, but it's blatant and very much compromises his ability to actually get things done, which is why the PCs need to be called in.
>lol, he's just that way because he used to be a blacksmith and dwarves drove him out of business which is why he had to be in law enforcement.
There are other examples, but I'm sure you guys get the drift. He'll just randomly spout shit, and then I have to very clearly say that no, things are not working like that, and remind him to not just make stupid crap up, which he ignores. He's a good player otherwise though, I'd rather not boot him, but I really have no idea what he's on about or how to get him to stop, the one time I asked him post-game about it, he just kind of shrugged and went "I don't really see why it's a problem.", apparently not getting that I don't want random stuff thrown into the game setting that I then have to work around. Anyone have any advice?
Just make it real clear that he's wrong when you reveal stuff. He'll eventually quiet a bit if he knows he might be wrong.
Unless he's a real dumb fucker. Then just talk to him about it.
Or just talk to him about it first.
>>53219999
I've already attempted to talk with him about it. He doesn't seem to grasp that it's a problem, and I think (not 100% certain here) that he views it as helping me with the creative burden by making up shit.
>>53219999
Should probably clarify: force your point across. Make it known that it's a real issue. If he shrugs again then you may want to consider kicking him if he's that much of a dick
Let's say there's a world where monsters may, at any time, slip through a planar crack and attack. Let's say the monsters range from the tiniest imp to kaiju, to entire swarms of chittering demons. Let's say this happens with some regularity, usually on a small scale, but the very worst of these events have ended civilizations before.
How likely would the various civilizations be to declare war on each other in such a world, if doing so meant committing the armed forces and destructive magic you might need to fend of Godzilla at a moment's notice?
Monster taming.
I'm not kidding, those monsters may attack at random intervals, but if you capture them and are at least capable enough to hold them in a place, then release them on an enemy nation, you could do some serious damage.
You kiddin' me? Whoever controls that planar crack is the boss. Constant war for who gets to declare it theirs, constant sabotage of whatever they set up around it, etc.

I think you are allowed to pick as many choices as you want, as long as you pick at least one from both columns.
"God sucks" edgy atheist edition.
>>53218949
>EVERYONE:
>Immortality
Is this God or fucking monkey pawn? Holy shit picking this will make you history's greatest monster. People dying sucks and I don't agree that life needs to end for it have purpose but there actually are some very good reasons why you might want to die.
First of all, aging is frozen, no set to some ideal age, which will kinda suck a fucking lot to anyone old or young.
Second, it's great that God specifies that people can suffer and not die when malnutrion and lack of clean water is massive problem around the world. Pick this and guarantee that even the mercy of death is denied to them. Also if someone decides to nuke this planet, we will all starve endlessly.
Third, personal Immortality says "you won't get sick", whereas this only says "diseases will no longer be able to kill a human". So people can still get sick, they just can't die from it. So anyone getting AIDs and Ebola will be converted into eternally screaming lump of flesh that sprays blood all around. Refugee crisis nothing, what will emerge across the Mediterranean Sea will make Dead Space look like romantic comedy.
Also nothing about population control so eventually outmost parts of the humanity pile will be able to colonize stars. And I don't mean the planets orbiting those stars, altho those will be colonized too. I mean the actual stars. Literally. All will be colonized by the ever expanding lump of humanity. Unless of course the fetus counts as person. At least we'll get answer to that question. Hopefully if this is the case, it will be early in the development, might get awkward otherwise. Is abortion murder if the fetus is immortal or if it's performed before God considers it person enough for immortality?
>Love
I honestly don't see why you wouldn't pick this. It doesn't even come with "this doesn't apply to you" drawback. I guess if you want everyone to die alone and unloved, you can skip this, in which case, hi fellow Finn.
>>53218972
>Beauty
Standards of beauty have repeatadly shifted over time. No idea if this will keep upgrading people as they shift again. Whatever. Again, there's very little reason to not pick this. I feel like this and Love should maybe be choice between them and the angel waifu and Mirror. But there's no mention of it at the top and the rows don't match anyway. Whateveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer.
>THREE WORLD CHOICES
I don't know what happens if you pick Advancement and Magic Adventure. Maybe space ships, maybe magitech. I don't care. Do what feels good. I'm gonna say tho that suddenly sending world into medieval stage either puts a lot people into position where they must switch from IT work to subsistence farming, which will probably kill a people, or change their skills, memories and possibly personalities to fit their new life, which could be argued to be a kind of murder. Unless the new wizard working is exactly like IT work, in which case you just replaced tech with magic and nothing changed. Good news however is that God really doesn't give a shit so who cares. I mean, he did offer the fucking Immortality. Maybe you'll get to bang a monstergirl. Except there's no charmisma upgrade so probably not.
>PERSONAL:
>Immortality
It's the good kind of immortality, kinda. No damage resistance, healing or pain immunity. Try to not get hurt.
>Malakhim
Angel waifu servant with big titties. Might have some kind of submission fetish. Even if you aren't into it, you get a free maid and if you don't pick her, she will be stuck in Heaven while God fucks off to bother the wizard, so maybe consider helping her escape.
>Mirror, Mirror
Guess God is just giving you shapeshifting powers because that will I don't fucking know, what the fuck God?
>Protagonist
Mirror can turn you into anime chick and now you can live anime too. Congrats, the struggle is over, anime is real.
>Multiplayer

To expand upon >>53218095 think about what these environments represent. There is no greenery to provide enough sustenance for a society or life giving streams of water from which to slake ones thirst. In these regions there is only hardships and things local to the region are adapted to very specific niches.
What better way to show that you are a powerful threat not to be trifled with than to set-up base in a land that would kill most others who dare attempt to stay in it? Additionally such regions are a pain in the ass to build any kind of long term encampment in and act as easily defensible areas for those who survive long enough to be able to call it home.
