I had an AdEva character take the place of Adam, Archangel and lord of the Angelic race. The game died soon after, but it was pretty interesting.

I also had a character in an AdEva game I ran pull an amazing gambit. I was using the concept of the Collective Unconscious as part of the game. To protect the pilots from ego-death due to piloting their mechs, each one was imbued with an Archetype, an image in the collective unconscious, that reinforced their identity but, over time, threatened to rewrite it, making them more and more like that archetypal image of themselves.

One PC figured out what was happening and managed to, through amazing feats of PR and marketing, imprint herself so heavily on the collective unconscious that she herself became the archetype in the collective unconscious she'd been representing. Becoming an immortal, transcendent figure within the collective mind of humanity is pretty damn close to godhood.

I had a character that ascended to godhood.
She became a goddess of strength, family, friendship, music, travel, giants, overblown retribution and all that sort of stuff.
Now she's known with the nick of "Mother of Titans" (due none of her blood-related kids being shorter than 4 meters tall), and she's rather happy of her position.
She's a protector of the meek , kids and orphans.

This said, a deity is a being of high power that is responsible for the creation and/or is in complete control of the existence of at least one factor of the universe.
In my aforementioned example, her main jig was "Size". Nothing about her is small. Big body, big muscles, big heart, big brain (although it might not look like it at first sight) big family, big family members, and even her rage is absolutely huge when unleashed (usually when her family is threatened. Sort of a Mama bear trope there).

Personally, while I wouldn't let the barbarian kill the wight because immune to crits and all, IF he at least suggested he wanted to push the wight away or something, I'd let him knock the thing down a well, through a wall, or incapacitate it in some way, allowing the party some time to think of a more permanent solution.

And definitely not okay to toss a wight against them. Assuming the party is level 1, a wight can kill them in 1 hit, assuming 3.5e.

Could be worse, you could have the PC's fight a Vampire that's a part of the Union of Eclipses despite PC's knowing jack to shit about vampires beyond Default Vampire and Vampire Lord, because of the initial obscurity of diverse vampires, and the content presented in 2e Ravenloft.

Never fuck with a vampire over 500, they're simply Epic level threats that can and will Ream your asshole.

We had a recurring villain named Aiden who always turned up at the worst times and wouldn't die. My DM knows how to run antipaladins in the most infuriating way possible. Aiden never engaged us without gaining a substantial advantage, he never engaged in banter, he never passed up an opportunity to mock us when he got an advantage, he would send waves of enemies at us and sit in the back like a coward spamming buffs on himself, and he wouldn't stay dead. In one encounter he managed to escape after we beat him by tumbling past our attacks of opportunity (which had a DC of 35+ because of our own abilities) and then used his enhanced speed to sprint away faster than we could follow.

His greatest exploits include:
Convincing our favorite NPC (who was a demi-god) to switch sides.
Undoing half of the progress we made over and over again.
Slaying our main cleric and trapping her soul in a magic warhammer. This was made worse by the fact that she was married to our paladin. Both players were quite angry about his.
Killing the final boss in the second to last session.

I think the DM realized that we hated Aiden way more than the actual primary antagonist so he killed off the final boss in order to move our antipaladin foe up to the top. Three years of campaigning and it's finally over.

Suits are buffed to shoot 3 weapons instead of 2, have boosted movement, and can still shred anything with massive amounts of rape.

I was fine with units being able to fall back out of combat! It took away from being able to tarpit them (sometimes our only effective strategy), but at least it negated their ability to shoot back.
