I made a thread like this a few months ago and I think it'd be nice to have one again. If you put your heart and soul into something, I believe it'll have some merit, Whats the best thing about that setting you've been working on /tg/? Cool mythology? unique races? banking systems? Whats the one thing you can take away from your setting and say "this is balla as fuck!"
>>53291113
Been working on a crusader state sort of setting. Basically demons invaded and pushed several races off of one landmass and now they're trying to reclaim it.
The old noble families want their land back, the various mage orders are after their old towers and libraries they had to abandon, the church is doing their thing, and the people caught in the middle, who've been ruled by the demons for the better part of a century or two, just want to be left alone by the dickish noblemen.
Good times all around. Oh yeah, and the demons are trying to win some of the less enthusiastic members of the crusade over to their side. Still working on the finer details.
>>53291262
crusades are always pretty cool. I've been working on a setting involving aliens stranded on a sword and sorcery planet. still needs lots of work aside from reference photos and chicken scratches on microsoft word

I think I've found out the way to mix modern technology and fantasy adventure:
Removing capitalism.
Let me explain: Modern technology hampers adventure in the sense that we perceive the earth as a cloned city, over and over: the same houses where people work in the same offices and factories, all the cool places are now asphalted, all the wonders have been discovered, poisoned and taxed.
But if you put technology serving the interests of a single, benevolent dictator; there will only be the exact amount of technology that he deems necesary to the wellbeing of the peoples. Some inventors can hack government-approved technology into personal projects. Now your PCs can ride trains, planes, have radios, bikes, geiger counters, X-rays, cyber-parts, etc without technology being so ubiquitous to hamper the feeling of a wild, mysterious world, while also making the inventor class usable (a personal favorite).
>Drop this bullshit two-set paradigm. Three set blocks are just better.
>BTFO the Gatewatch. More like Shitwatch, amirite?
>Bring back complexity. Make cards and games about more than just turning the biggest creature sideways.
And most importantly
>Stop catering specifically to one very narrow audience. We don't need three fucking blocks about revolutions in a row. Make a variety of flavor everyone can love.
wow

But it worked.
Gee Papa Smurf these new Primaris Space Marines sure do sound like a swell idea! I don't see any possible this could back fire at all!either a) you know who is gonna put a flaw in them causing all sorts of fuckery b) Jealously from the other neglected Space Marines chapters is going to cause another civil war
:^)
Nah. It'll be fine.

Gonna need aquick rundown
Female Space Marines are a thing now.

Girlyman commissioned roboman to make +P+ versions of the Space Marines 10,000 years before and now sprinkling them throughout the galaxy like sprinkles on a hot fudge covered ice cream bowl.

Take a break from 40k fansites for a while. It's the worst on /tg/ but the entire fandom has been reduced to a loud white noise of autism shrieking at each other.
Will Slaanesh be squated in 8th ? Will she not ? And the most important question of all : will it blend ?
Slaaneshi thread, you deviants players.
>>53276772
>will it blend?
Did anything not blend? I hate you, you've literally stolen 5 hours of my time while I find the answer for myself.
>>53276792
Chuck Norris didn't blend.
>>53276772
Now I want to make an Ork walking blender.
It picks people up, then drops them into the "choppa chamber"
Thoughts on Numenera? I just bought the vidya adaptation and I'm finding the setting to be really interesting. Starter set or core book?
>>53274711
I seem to recall that whenever this thread comes up the usual verdict is that it has a reasonably interesting setting, but doesn't make enough of it, and the mechanics are desperately average at best.
TL; DR - 'Nice setting, shame about the game'.
The current opinion is that it's an interesting premise that squanders it. The Cypher System is fairly interesting mechanically.
nu-men era is just another step in the constant decline of rpg's since the poison of the SJWs crept in
I've decided to get into 40k when 8E launches and the primaris models look cool so I'm going Space Marines. Sell me on your favourite chapter.

You should go deathwatch
How would you explain magic in a sci-fi setting in a way that sounds at least somewhat "scientific"? It doesn't have to be hard science, just sound convincing enough to maintain my players' suspension of disbelief.
Do what Destiny did and throw around words like "Quantum" and "Paracausal" alot.
I would use the biotics system in Mass Effect
>>53244211
I didn't play Destiny, guess I'll have to read up on it.
>>53244212
Biotics from Mass Effect are a little weak compared to what I want to go for.

Lone rider is no joke. Well, it's kind of a joke, but you can still get wrecked. 2 mana 4/4 first strike lifelink is pretty good. I played against a crazy mono-white deck with always watching, a bunch of lifelink, and aetherflux resevoir. I think he was packing the lancer brisela package also, but I'm not sure. I ended up winning game 2 convincingly, but game 1 was worrying.

Somehow this long after the post went up, first for the Dark City
I like Primaris Marines and there's nothing you can do about it!
Are Primaris Marines stronger or weaker than Custodes?
Alright.
Just got back from the new King Arthur movie.
Marketing flop, sure, a bit lacking in focus, perhaps, but its a very intriguing mashup of genres.
It's a Nobledark Arthurian wuxia sword and sorcery heist movie.
So:
How would you combine those genres well, for a tabletop game?
I would do a 360 and walk away
>>53299312
Yeah, I probably would too. Especially with a filming cost double that of your average action or superhero movie.
But, for arguments sake; humor me.
>>53299296
>It's a Nobledark Arthurian wuxia sword and sorcery heist movie.
I wouldn't, it's not my strong suit for one, and it's not something I think someone could pull off. And I actually ran a game where the players where knights of Arthur. Only I ran it as a dire 'come the apocalypse' game where evil men came in from the seas and set themselves on a path of murder, rape, and genocide that the players had to battle against desperately. So it was historical.
How would you run a game where your players compete in the olympics?
If it's fantasy, turn them into a competitive Trials of Heracles.
The shit shoveling airs in smellovision
>>53298021
I once played in a campaign where the gods chose champions to conpete to determine how much divine power each would get during the next era. All contests were done in an elimination bracket format, but each contest was designed to be something appropriate given whoch two deities' champions were competing. Some were straight up battles, while others were skill-based or required the most impressive/creative solution to a problem.
>>53298054
>>53298165
What about literally the olympics?
How would you handle swimming? The 100 meter dash? Hurdles? Gymnastics? Rowing? Power lifting?
Surely all of these have just as much depth and nuance to them as any combat, no?
