> The major races are psuedo-Nordic Humans, !Not!Roman Goblins, wandering Ogre clans, and dorf fort/kobold camp style Kobolds.
Is this cancer?
The part about goblins being Romans yeah. I don't really see them organized in empires or phalanxes, the little bastards.
The rest works.
>>53409363
I agree, but Roman style hobgoblins would be pretty rad though. I could see this working
>>53409363
I meant a more intelligent subrace of Goblins manage to develop a unified culture, there's still plenty of standard Goblins, and if anything, most !Not!Roman Goblins are less intelligent than Humans, just more brutally cunning.
>>53409389
Yeah that's more along the lines of what I meant, !Not!Roman Goblins, only the class divide isn't between Patricians and Plebeians, it's between Hobgoblins and Goblins.
Is it possible for an adventure or campaign to be successfully "artsy"? How aesthetically and thematically conscious are you/should you be as a GM?
>>53409251
No.
No!
DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS.
>>53409251
Well, I think it's difficult because a GM can't be an auteur, as players control the major characters. However, Hideo Kojima managed to succeed for the most part in video games, which have a similar problem, so maybe it is possible for a GM to develop a style that doesn't conflict with RPGs. You might have to be a genius to pull it off, though.
>>53409251
it's too much trouble with no actual reward unless you have super-conscious players that will appreciate and actually understand what are you trying to do and through their roleplaying enhance the whole of the game. And that is for all practical uses impossible.

Why do you put the pastebin link before the previous thread link?
I need a cyoa that lets me violenty murder and disfigure people irl.
>>53408138
So that if I make the next thread, I can copy the pastebin and "previous thread:" and just add the old thread # to the end of it, instead of having to delete the old #

First for hrud!
>>53407596
The inceptors look so fucking bad I think they single-handedly turned me off from getting the starter set. I don't actually play Marines or Chaos but I figured maybe I would start a small collection of one or the other given how much value you get, but now I don't even want it because the jump Marines look so fucking retarded.
You'll be able to preorder the new edition books from the website, right?
>each time a caster expends a spell slot, they must make a check against their INT/WIS/CHA equal to 10+spell level
>on a success they cast the spell
>on a failure the spell slot is expended with no effect
Did I just fix Pathfinder?
Nope. You've repeated something people have tried a dozen times before which makes it slightly more annoying to play a caster without much real change in the power disparity.
>>53407585
No, Pathfinder will still be populated mostly by furries, weeaboos, and autists.
>>53407585
How to fix Pathfinder:
>remove "1d20+flat bonus" system
>replace it with "3d20, take middle" or roll-keep (aka rXkY) based on d6
>remove skills, classes and class features
>replace it with professions/jobs/backgrounds/whatever you want to call it
>remove Vancian casting based on ability scores and spell slots/mana points
>replace it with ritual casting based solely on items and professions/jobs/backgrounds
>remove the experience system based on killing monsters
>replace it with goal/achievement-based experience system
>remove health system based on abstracted HP
>replace it with two separate tracks for Wounds and Stamina (think like Armor and Shield in sci-fi games)
>remove feat trees and feat requirements
>replace it with background requirements
Tell me if I missed something.
so dragons are generally shown as feircly territorial and limited to one area, but given their ability to fly why aren't there migratory dragons?
And would migratory dragons by neccesity be leaving explorable dungeon type areas behind when they leave their summer/winter homes for the season, or would their seasonal abodes be very temporary, impromptu affairs?
>>53407411
Dragons don't need to migrate.
In a setting I'm more or less working on, dragons are mainly migratory.
In winter, they leave the main continent to go to the south. Some of them also stay and simply hibernate until spring, though.
>>53407411
Are we talking about intelligent dragons?
Because if they are intelligent, they probably just want/need/like to have a little corner of the world to call home. That's their territory. It has everything they need.
They might travel to sightsee or move somewhere else permanently, though.

>Low-magic DND 3.5e with houseruled modern guns
>Heroes have to take a boat to Fantasy Japan to turn foreigner-hating high-magic magitek-using isolationists into allies of their empire. Or wipe them out because these fuckers have high magic and you don't want them fucking your shit up.
>Have no idea how to make these guys want to change so suddenly. I want to make it a "Thank you for helping us with this quest, we can talk about becoming allies now!" deal, but I have no idea what kind of quest could be this important to them. I also know nothing about Japan.
The only RPGs I've ever played are Fallout and Pokemon and this game is usually really fun. I don't want to fuck this up.
>>53406733
>there is a magitek powered factory that helps the land somehow
>an earthquake sends the sensitive magic material rocking and it spills
>there is now magically polluted monsters and people running around on a rampage
>there is a schism on if they need to tone down the magic fuckery and embrace the gaijin or blame them for causing it and trying to take their magic away
>>53406733
Historically speaking, you bring Christianity and sell them guns
Can we have an armor thread? Post whatever you want. Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Post-Apocalyptic, Modern. Please do refrain from just capping it with 40k though.
Armor is all cool.
I'll bump until I go to bed.
if i have one request for this thread, maybe Dragonborn, or other monstrous races? I don't have enough of that.
How do you write/play a character with incredible powers/abilities they cannot control properly?
I wouldn't, because characters like that are pure garbage in any medium.
But if I had to, I'd probably use something similar to a miscast table where random uncontrollable bullshit happens every time you fail your "control" roll.
>>53406198
You make them mad as hell and give them a weird body horror arm.
>>53406198
I would use such a character as antagonist. In my homebrew Cape setting people like this are my Main antagonists.
Sup, fa/tg/uys and bo/tg/irls.
Been about 3 years since I painted a mini, and I'm halfway done with this guy. Any c&c?
Also, painting general.
Inb4 'THIN YOUR PAINTS'
He's a Nurgle Chaos Lord. Might have overdone the rust. Still need to add a bunch of highlights, shading and weathering to his armour.
>>53405742
a question for paintfags: what are the colors generally used in miniatures industry based on? Oil? Can those colors be used for something else like for example actual painting?
>>53405773
Water based acrylics for the most part
Welcome to another edition of the Character Art Thread.

Why havent you sold/thrown away your manlet marines? You dont want to be the laughing stock at your flgs do you
>>53405156
He's right, you know!
In fact, I'm willing to do the community a service! I'll happily buy your old army from you - cheaply, yes, but let's face it, who else will?
>>53405156
>They actually sigmarized the marines.
At least they look better than the normal marines, because they actually look like big ubermen.
Also anyone can tell me from where the Primaris shits come from? It's that easy to make them than Ultramar has armies of them already?
>>53405478
They've been kept in pods for 10k years. Bobby was about to unleash them when he got a demon sword to the knee.
Are there any game systems that have very limited dice rolling or even completely foregoes any random element?
I picture something that is more focused on the players solving "puzzles." Be it that the puzzles are moving shapes around, navigating a maze, or even breaking a combat down into a series of steps that has to be solved in some way rather than just rolling dice until HP runs out.
>>53404736
Golden Sky Stories and Chuubo's Marvelous Wish-Granting Engine for starters.
Tokyo Nova uses cards and hand management, so you can mitigate the randomness somewhat.
>>53404736
have a search for lawncrapper rpgs & storygames

Scan it, convert to pdf, upload it, and wait 4 months for it to get half-translated then stuck in scanlation limbo for another 3 months, then finally translated just in time for the official U.S. releae which renders the whole thing pointless.

He is your new chess opponent- or better yet. He's your new tabletop playmate/table top player or DM.
What do?
>>53404248
He would be the most annoying that GM ever. Railroading faggot, sperging when anyone does anything he doesn't like.
>no casters, humans only
>GM is ALWAYS right. You need to ask him to use the bathroom
I guess he would get knifed.
>>53404521
Don't forget, even if he'd make a game session/adventure that allows or has wizards and magic users in the setting. He'd probably give unfair disadvantages and unfair advantages to "Inquisitor" class characters.
Also he'll probably sneaking in his hatred for Phillipa Eilhart as much as he can in the game sessions:
>You have defeated the evil witch Felicity Earheart, what do you do next to serve justice? Turn her in to the Inquisition? Or jab hot iron in her eyes?
>>53404521
>Dare you entire my Northern Realms???
>Geralt: "Stop inserting politics in our game sessions."
>Dykstra: "I will punch you!"
