Thanks to the hard work of my friend anon.. every thing was backed up and archived.
Full torrent list from previous thread can be found here..
For the new guys the Full thread can be found here
L.A. portion has c.6700 pics, a lot in hi res.
About 40% of these are in color
I included some other stuff as well...more about that later.
Classic nudes and cool vintage boobers also in here.
some hi res and color
but this stuff is vintage so... it is what it is.
Just chose the folders you want.
How about this .. get your own thread
Hey, I'm happy that the website has a use, I'd be glad to continue backing things up further.
Otherwise I'm setting up a PC now for seeding the torrents as long as possible, kinda 24/7, so everyone gets their picsets
Well one on hand you are right.. I should have just let it go, and yes there are other instances where I let some anon have it.
Some had it coming and I stand by my attitude to their comment with no apology. As for this particular reply, calling someone on 4chan a nigger, is about the most mundane of insults.
Butt-head would have been no less offensive.
To date I have shared 61,439 photos and I don't know the genealogy of each and every one.
I don't expect to be patted on the head and told I am a good boy in someones comments.
Anons comment was more like a hit and run..hey dude your wrong ...laters. Casting doubt on the whole effort. At least thats how I read it.
Anyway, like I said at the beginning I should have just let it go. I thought the same the next day after checking the thread.
I will make an effort to check myself in the future. Thanks for bringing this up.
Anon, are you the ex-Deluge guy?? I am a little confused.
Regardless, your time and effort are greatly appreciated. The format for your website is perfect. To see the work here living on, separate from /t/ or mega, make it more important.
Thank you for your continued interest and help.
Update. I am not dragging my feet as far as a new torrent is concerned. I have a HUGE test/final for my Major on Saturday and my brain hurts.
I will look for some inspiration for a new set and have it up ASAP.
Most of this is super hi res and I don't want to resize anything.
Have you ever seen an old add or magazine article posted somewhere and it was really cool but you couldn't read the print...yea that pisses me off.
Well thats not gonna happen here. Thats why the folder is so big and I don't want to compromise that fact.
These are some examples, your best bet is to save a few and look at them in your image viewer, so you can see what I am talking about.
In the center you will John F. Kennedy sitting in on a development meeting during the early days of NASA.
Two seats away on the same row you can see
Wernher Magnus Maximilian Freiherr von Braun, or Wernher von Braun the mastermind rocket engineer.
here is one from another meeting in color
Here are some examples of text I was talking about
I have an ultimate NASA collection also. It chronicles the entire history on that program.
Everything is super organized by mission and project.. This one has some video as well.
A fairly good representation of the Soviet program as well.
May put that up next..let me know what you think.
aaaand that's what i love about these torrents. not a minute after i asked and somebody started seeding like crazy.
I second that wish, since that topic is now about 100 years old, thus some kind of "celebration torrent" would be nice to see.
OT (some rage): Some selfish leecher is wasting the whole bandwidth on "Retro Science" and is not giving back ANYTHING, thus it WILL some more take time. Get your freaking settings right and seed back! It's just outrageous to give something and don't get anything back. Good for the ratio, bad for the torrent itself... And that's definitely not the way BitTorrent (or any other p2p-network) actually works...
Cool, your welcome
I have some 5,000+ from the Great One...BUT..
you do realize the common technique back then was your subject had to be basically still for a few seconds while the exposure took place.
Meaning a lot of posed shots or "after Battle" field shots. Almost nothing live action, like in the Nam or WWII folders.
Uniforms, Platoons, equipment, gear, battlefields, that kind of thing.
If your still interested, I will get to work.
To my Archive anon...
Next torrent I am going to send you the links via e-mail first, BEFORE posting them here.
You can download the whole thing first and then help seed when I post here. I had hell with 9.6 gigs through a 45kb/s port.
OP, I just wanna thank you so much for these torrents. I've been wracking my brain for a creative kick start and the sci fi folder fit the bill to a tee. Also, I really dig the general architecture and designs of yesteryear. You've really made my day.
holy fuck that Retro Science torrent was a bitch to get fully downloaded. I'm on 3.1 ratio, uploading around 200kbps and will at least double my upload ratio for the rest of the anons wanting these pictures. it's a great, fun set, in case you are wondering.
My Medieval Armor folder is very small, but I was going to work on it at some point. Check the old thread, I posted some pics there.
Cool...enjoy your new pics
Yea, It was a bitch for me to keep seeding. Anything above 45kb/s and my internet is nonfunctional. I had to shut down a few times so I could play my game online. I also spent several hours offline just watching the torrent numbers bounce around. Forever alone guy...just staring at the flickering screen.
I've been uploading fairly consistently, although I did have some problems with the LA torrent. You should be getting it.
rutorrent on my seedbox, trackers don't work on all torrents, but the warplanes one. But except WWII and Vietnam all torrents download just fine and I'm uploading like a boss. Any hints?
Okay, I turned on PEX and DHT, now they're downloading :)
Photographers working for the U.S. government's Farm Security Administration (FSA) and later the Office of War Information (OWI) between 1939 and 1944 made approximately 1,600 color photographs that depict life in the United States.
The pictures focus on rural areas and farm labor, as well as aspects of World War II mobilization, including factories, railroads, aviation training, and women working.
The original images are color transparencies ranging in size from 35 mm. to 4x5 inches. They complement the better-known black-and-white FSA/OWI photographs, made during the same period.
Also included will be;
Photos, mostly taken by the Wright brothers to document their new flying machines, including views of their laboratory, engines, models, experimental planes, runways, flights, accidents, as well as portraits, buildings and landscapes.
Date:1897 - 1928
Also including a vintage Las Vegas folder
The first set ..FSA, OWI has 1226 pics
Second set the Wright Bros has 266
The Vegas folder has 196
All in the same res as the posted ones
Total of 354mb.. I chose some smaller files because the last torrent took me forever to seed out.
Here are the links
here is some war production stuff from the FSA folder
>mfw you call these shooped
Unrelated and sorry if this is a dumbass question but is there a way to set qbittorrent to ask you where to save a file every time instead of automatically saving it to the predesignated folder? I've checked every setting and I can't find shit
Usually there is a dialog before downloading the torrent. There you can set in which directory the file(s) should be downloaded.
If not, go to the options, specifically to Downloads, and check the two boxes under the heading "When adding a torrent". This should activate the dialog before downloading the torrent afaik
I have tried Deluge before, but I wasn't really happy with it. The GUI and probably the plug-ins are the best part of it, but it uses pretty many system resources, plus it is not downloading torrents as fast as other clients do.
Also, if there are many files contained in the torrent, Deluge takes a literal shitload of time to load all the files so you can choose what you (don't) want to download.
Stay with qBittorrent.
To quote a fellow anon from double-4chan:
>If you want a GUI then go with qBittorrent. It's FLOSS, cross-platform, has the features most people will want, and is pretty fast.
>uTorrent, Vuze, and Bittorrent are all shit. Closed source, bloated, spyware, java, advertisements, doesn't respect your freedoms, possibly backdoored. uTorrent 2.2.1 isn't THAT bad, Windows only, but it's still closed source, has ads (I know you can hide then, but it's the principle), and is 4 years old and probably has a fair number of security and privacy vulnerabilities.
>Deluge is also pretty mediocre imo, but no where to the level as the main 3 people seem to use. At least it's open source, regularly updated, and pretty usable.
>Transmission is good if you want something minimal that has a GUI, but the features are limited and it's slower than some of the other clients.
I have an unique collection of L.A./Las Vegas, East Coast strippers from the 30's through the 60's.
A kind of who's who of Skin from that era.
7,400 pics. 2 folders 850mb
Main stripper folder is called Burlesque
I put in some vintage female stars in bathing suits,
in the extra folder.
Ok people, I have started to pre-seed this monster Space folder.
Anon and I are trying to make the download time better, so I let him download it first so we can both seed together.
This thing is fuckin AMAZING.
Almost every thing NASA and the Soviets did has some representation...and the folders are DEEP.
I am gonna walk you through one layer.
Here is the first three sub-folders. Space is the main folder.
This is after clicking on the Space folder.
I would call this the main lobby. Each one of these folders continues to divide by mission and date.
This is the contents of the highlighted folder in image 2.
(1967-present) Soyuz Program.
yes I know the folder has a spelling error
I know image 3 does not look like much, but when you open one of them you get this.
I highlighted (1986-2003) Soyuz TM.
Lets have a look.
That was a walk through of just one set of sub's.
I will post some generic stuff from the Space hardware folder for bump purposes. You probably have seen some of these before, but I thought it best to include it. Plus they are hi res. I shrunk them some for posting, they are original size in the torrent.
Folder will be 10.5g
A good portion in hi res
Oh, and a really cool video section
I did this preview early, I wanted those interested to have time to find it before posting the links. It should be ready Monday or Tuesday.
On a side note the folder (in the first screenshot) named "space thread" was overlooked by me for duplicate removal. Its a hi res set of shots from the Hubble. The smaller thumbs didn't get removed. Just sort them by size and delete the small ones. K.
I saw 1 person who wanted the new torrent.
Are there any others ??
Man I could use a little feedback. I do actually spend hours on this stuff.
You mean the space torrent?
Yes i'm looking forward to it.
I'm not sure who is supposed to send what to who, but you should just post the magnet link if you have it and check the superseeding options of your torrent client, it will share faster for everybody this way.
I only got into this thread yesterday, so i haven't checked everything yet (and a good portion of it is still downloading, but I do love this kind of stuff.
>mfw anon tries to troll op
here ya go
Thank you anon
On another note,
The Space torrent has put the image count over the 100,000 mark or closer to 102,800 +/-.
In a couple more weeks it will be six moths since me and archive anon got started. I have pushed 120gb through a 50kbs upload port..which averages a seed ratio of about 2.5 across the board for the entire collection.
It has been fun but also a lot of work.
I am first and foremost, a collector of images. I love photographs. I like the way some pics can just make you stop and look...and think. Music is great for re-living some of your personal memories, but a photograph can let you re-live someone else's memories. I find that Fascinating.
Being a collector takes a lot of time. Searching places were images hide. Looking in those places for topics of interest, and repeating that cycle enough times to actually put a worthwhile collection together. Well like I said, it takes a lot of time. Time I have not spent in close to six months. Time that is calling me. Time to return to collecting.
Appropriately enough we reached a milestone with this set, in terms of total image count and it was the largest one (file size) that I put up. With that I will return to the dark recesses and find those hidden gems.
Maybe in the future (if this place is still around) we can start it up again. If that day ever comes just look for that "Nam" door gunner and you'll know it's op.
Thanks a lot for providing all these image collections. I really liked the color photos of rural america.
This space picture collection was also amazing. The hi-rez pictures from the apollo project were great and I spent a good few hours just looking through everything with great fasciantion.
So thanks again OP for compiling all of these photos into these easy to access collections.
By the way this smug motherfucker really got me.
Thank you for taking the time to come back here and comment.
I am happy you liked the rural America collection, those old school Kodachrome scans captured a special warmth. In doing these torrents I had hopes that others would find at least something, that was special.
Yea whats wrong with that dude.. all smug and shit. He might have space face...It's kinda like autism.
These images are amazing and it's really cool to be able to see what others have experienced like you sad. I'll be on the lookout for new collections of yours. Thanks for helping to prove /t/ isn't just another porn board.Peace .
A few last words from archive-anon.
First off, thank you for all of the image sets you have collected over the months. I think I'm speaking for every single leecher of these torrents when I say that your work was and is more than appreciated, and if you decide to post more image sets, then you are welcome to do this. As for the archive, it will excist until either the host shuts down, or I change the host (always got a copy of all the data on my HDD and a SD-card, thus they won't get lost).
If you ever have a new torrent running, you know my e-mail, and I'll try to seed as much as possible to help other fellow anons further.
As for the space-torrent, I have to apologize for not seeding as long as possible, as I had to change the HDD of my laptop (onliest PC I have).
And as an other anon said: Thanks for proving us that /t/ hasn't gone a place filled up with JAVs and Hentai (except a few other threads).
Again, thanks for your exceptional work OP. Take your time-out, and come back in old freshness. Meanwhile the torrents will stay alive - Seeders approve.
A little late to the party, but thank you very much for those collections OP.
I like collecting stuff myself and this is very interesting.
Those torrents are never leaving my client.
Good luck, I hope you find some other wonderful pictures.
