Does this seem good? Honorable mention to Unitas
I have a really tough time not giving Manning the edge over Brady, especially if we are not factoring in owl wins by having Marino that high.
Brady is probably the greatest system QB in the history of the game. He will do exactly what he is told to do at a higher percentage of success than any other QB. In other words, he's extreamly consistant.
Manning is the ultimate game manager. He's the master of the line of scrimmage. He knows exactly what play to call as soon as he sees the enemy defense line up. In many ways he's the single smartest player in the game. What I think gives him the edge over Brady is that he actually decides what to execute. Dungy, Wolf, or Kubiak might be the coach but Peyton is really the mastermind of that team, where as Brady, while consistant, is not the one calling the shots the majority of the time.
I think both are phenominal players in their own way.
>Brady is one
Even if you use the owl reasoning, which is retarded because owls are a terrible metric of individual success, he wouldn't be number 1 because Montana has the perfect record for 4 owl wins and 0 defeats on 2 teams.
>Joe Montana was also a system QB, what's your point?
Montana was the master of all trades.
He adhered to any system well regardless of the team he was on, he was a top tier playmaker, and a top tier game manager.
That's why is considered to be the best by most people.
Pretty sure most people consider him better than Brady because he's 4/4 in super bowls. You could make an argument that playing before the salary cap era and playing under the westcoast offense that defenses didn't know how to defend against made him look better than he was.
>He adhered to any system well regardless of the team he was on
uhhh so are we ignoring the fact that all 4 of his owls were with the same coach employing the same west coast offense each year? at least brady has played in a multitude of offenses varying from power-run games to traditional gun to this quasi-short passing game that is taking over the league these days, and manning is renown for generating offensive schemes completely by himself. montana never played in a different offense until he left to kansas city
im sorry but only contrarians throw Moon in a top 10 list just to act like they know what they're talking about. one of the best all time sure, but his playoff chokes are inexcusable. best black QB to ever play the game but the best I could ever rate him is top 15. realistically he's more around the 18-20 range
This has to be bait.
Brady himself credited the defense with the win.
He gave Butler his fucking MVP car for Christ's sake.
The following is generic pats bandwagoner logic:
>Brady throws 2 abysmal interceptions
>Defense stops lynch from a first down in the 3rd and forces what would have led to a tie into a field goal
>Wilfolk stops Lynch inches from winning the game
>Carrol and Bevell call what has already gone down in history as the single dumbest play call in the history of the big game, which otherwise could have ended the game
>Butler saves the game by intercepting Wilson's pass in the endzone
>Brady throws 2 TDs in the 4th
MVP!!!! GOAT!!!! HE WON US THE GAME!!!!
As an actual Pats fan, I'M disgusted with how much circlejerking goes on over Brady. I know it's a meme here but if you're really a Pats fan, show our team respect and give credit to the people responsible for the win.
DBs and LBs were able to get away with mugging back when Montana, Marino and Elway played.
Every QB now averages at least 30 tds passes. That used to be MVP only numbers.
>Peyton is probably the best regular season QB. But in Football (or any sport really) the only thing that fucking matters is winning championships because that is the end game.
Agreed, and if the last decade of owls is of any evidence, the QB position is not what wins championships.
Championships are won by teams.
The best overall QB of the post-salary cap era is Peyton.
The best overall TEAM of the post-salary cap era is the Patriots.
No shit Brady credited his defense for the win, he would have been fucking incinerated if he said "nah, I drove us down the entire field two times late in the 4th quarter which is why we won".
Seahawks secondary was hurt. That wasn't an elite defense, it was a hobbled defense. The entire secondary had to get surgery.
Defense was off and on the whole game. It's true that they came up big in the 4th quarter but they also allowed 24 points and let the seahawks walk up the field with 30 seconds left in the half and score.
Plus unlike yesterday when Von Miller was the clear star of the show on defense, the Patriots D although they functioned well as a unit, didn't have a particular stand out performance. It's easier to give the MVP to Brady who stood out on offense in the 4th quarter.
>Carrol and Bevell call what has already gone down in history as the single dumbest play call in the history of the big game
Yeah after Butler makes the biggest defensive play in Super Bowl history, you expect Brady to say it was all Edelman or Gronk or some shit. Come on. Or that Brady (having a filthy rich wife and already taking pay cuts to sign other players) wouldn't give the truck away.
>You shouldn't discount rings regardless.
If we're talking about teams, then rings are the most important metric. But they are a terrible metric for judging individual success.
>The best regular season QB of this era is Peyton.
>The best post season QB of this era is Brady.
Not even close. He himself has even admitted he is not the strength of his team. He has the best coach in the history of the game and clutch defenses in each of his wins.
>Patriots "fans" desperately trying to turn the most controversial call in super bowl history into a "meme"
Nope, and it never will be. It will always be seen as a game Seattle lost, not one NE won. Sorry that bothers you so much.
My advice, take the win, because you're not getting anything more out of it.
>Peyton or Big Ben is better than Brady during postseason.
Okay sure, I can't sway beliefs. You'll still probably think Brady isn't the best postseason QB when the Pats continue to make deep playoff runs again the next 2 years.
>The best regular season QB of this era is Peyton.
i love this meme. Brady and Peyton's averages per season are the same in pretty much every stat except manning throws about 5 more interceptions a season
The best coach in the history of the game has won 1 playoff game without Brady and something like 23 with him.
Every Patriots Super Bowl win was decided by a clutch Brady drive.
Rings don't reflect on players? Fine. Look at Manning's individual stats in four Super Bowls: 3 touchdowns, 5 interceptions (2 returned for touchdowns). Apparently football is such a team sport in the post season that we can't even consider individual stats anymore.
You can argue that Peyton is better than Brady, but for fucks sake, SB 50 does nothing to help this case. An amazing defense and special teams won that game for the Broncos, and Peyton did just pretty good
And it's not some crazy insult ot PEyton. There's a reason "Defense wins championships" is a meme
Does anyone actually believe that this win solidifies his spot in the top 5 QB discussion? This has been an objectively terrible season with the Denver D clearly being their saving grace the entire Post-season run, yet I've already seen the media relentlessing sucking the dick of a QB who threw 9 TDs to 17 ints this season.
>It will always be seen as a game Seattle lost, not one NE won.
Hindsight 20/20 dummy. In 109 pass plays at 1 yard line, that turned out to be the only one to end in an interception that season (because Butler practiced against that play and blew it the fuck up). In the past 10 years, there have been 5 interceptions. It's not the stupidest play in history unless you're a casual.
>tfw Dilfer has more owl rings than Marino
Some QBs don't evolve with their diminishing athleticism
Manning's turned into a game manager that is obviously still capable of winning super bowls with a good defense
Sometimes recognizing your limits is the mark of a great player
So we're gonna ignore the miraculous Kearse catch that set Seattle up inside the 5?
Bullshit argument. 14 points in the fourth quarter and a clutch goal line int. New England won that game.
Lynch was 1 for 5 in 1 yard situations and the seahawks only had one time out. Not to mention that the hawks had been beating the pats all day with pick plays.
Throwing it in that situation was not a terrible decision.
3 of those plays are the same situation
are you going to credit the defense with allowing the helmet catch? allowing manningham to get open down the sideline? with allowing the seahawks to get to the 1 in the first place? like what exactly are you trying to prove with this defense carried argument? the only time the defense "carried" him was the first owl against the rams, and that was his first year playing. still holding to the fact that pats-haters are now more insufferable than patsfags
Peyton > Brady unless you're a ringbabby, and a true ringbabby doesn't give a shit about performance.
My only regret is that chicken parm had to sacrifice his career postseason qb rating lead over Brady for that second ring.
>tfw you have the unpopular opinion that Brett Favre is the GOAT QB because of his never missing a game, refusal to play the dink and dunk "muh tight ends" game and going his entire career without an elite WR or above average WR corps.
I hate the packers and love Favre. He was the best.
mfw dirty nigger saints d put a "hit" out on Farve that basically ended his career. Only unsportsmanlike losers do shit like that.
Please understand, arguing that individual performance in the pursuit of rings is different than
If Peyton Manning was losing Super Bowls 35-28 throwing 3 touchdowns and 0 ints, it would clearly be unfair to attribute the loss to him. But Peyton has thrown 3 touchdowns to 5 interceptions in his 4 Super Bowl appearances.
The fact is inescapable that Peyton Manning was more of a detriment to his team than an asset in those 4 games.
oh fuck off, elway choked hard. i swear this board is only filled with 18 year old kids. elway was known was a choke artist and didn't win until the broncos cheated the salary cap to stack his team
Favre pre-2000 is a top 5 QB of all time, Favre post 2000 isn't even in the discussion. Post 2000 Favre choked hard at every opportunity while throwing massive amounts of interceptions until late in his career. I could excuse a lot of the interceptions, because those mid 2000s Packers teams weren't good enough to win it all and Favre knew it, so he tried crazy shit and it failed most of the time. But it also added to his legacy as "that kid who's just havin' fun out there," so you've got to take them both in stride. He's not top 5 in terms of good quarterback play. He's #1 in terms of entertainment value, though.
Rodgers for sure would crack the top 5. What generation would he be considered part of? Does the 2005 draft fall under the manning/Brady generation?
He really did kind of a shitty job this year. I think maybe he got to full of himself.
he knows his brother is going to go out on top while he squanders on a failing giants team with no line, no defense, a selfish meme locker room cancer receiver, and a senile owner
I honestly have no idea why people think brady is better than peypey. Peyton has move passing yards more passing touchdowns more career wins, hell peypey has more rushing TD's then brady. Peoples only defense for brady is
>muh superb owl wins
Oh also peyton has 5 nfl MVPs and brady only has 2.
Marino is the GOAT and he's the prettiest QB to ever bless the field with his looks
>thinking that cuck is better looking than Brady
There's something to be said about Marino. He may not be the GOAT but I think he's the best passer in NFL history. Watch his shit on youtube. Guy was throwing split second bombs right into dudes' wheelhouses in the 80's when Linebackers were killing motherfuckers.. He made the Marks Brothers pro-bowlers. They owe their careers to Dan. And he was in Ace Ventura. I'll take that over Ted 2 any day.
He's not the GOAT but he deserves your respect.
It must hurt for patsfags to see peyton ride off into the sunset with an ice-cold Budweiser® in hand knowing he will always and forever have a winning record in the postseason against bradley
If Marino's hometown team (Steelers) drafted him he would've won a ring and Pitt wouldn't have had a drought in 80s/90s without a SB
Anybody who roots for a QB instead of a team is bad regardless of who the QB is. I'm a colts fan, I fucking love Peyton and am ecstatic he's retiring on top (probably), but I hate how many "colts" fans threw players like fucking Jeff Saturday and Dwight freeney under the bus in the 2000s
Thankfully Harrison and Wayne never were, but just about every other quality player on the 2000s colts teams got thrown under the bus at one point by faggots who root for a player over a team
He wasn't a suspect for more than a few days. This isn't some Ray Lewis/OJ Simpson shit, he just had to answer a few questions and be in his merry way.
>The Philadelphia District Attorney also stated that she was not going to pursue charges in this case due to conflicting witness statements. In fact, within a week of the first shooting, Marvin Harrison was not considered a suspect. Dixon, who had initially given the police a false name and claimed he was robbed by two men when interviewed at the hospital, was subsequently convicted of filing a false report for this incident on January 28, 2009.
Keep shitposting and hating though
You mean the overly verbose piece some fag wrote five years ago for clicks and had zero credibility and witnesses? That then got circulated again because of reader numbers? You probably believe tabloids
