I have a really tough time not giving Manning the edge over Brady, especially if we are not factoring in owl wins by having Marino that high.
Brady is probably the greatest system QB in the history of the game. He will do exactly what he is told to do at a higher percentage of success than any other QB. In other words, he's extreamly consistant.

Manning is the ultimate game manager. He's the master of the line of scrimmage. He knows exactly what play to call as soon as he sees the enemy defense line up. In many ways he's the single smartest player in the game. What I think gives him the edge over Brady is that he actually decides what to execute. Dungy, Wolf, or Kubiak might be the coach but Peyton is really the mastermind of that team, where as Brady, while consistant, is not the one calling the shots the majority of the time.

I think both are phenominal players in their own way.

Favre pre-2000 is a top 5 QB of all time, Favre post 2000 isn't even in the discussion. Post 2000 Favre choked hard at every opportunity while throwing massive amounts of interceptions until late in his career. I could excuse a lot of the interceptions, because those mid 2000s Packers teams weren't good enough to win it all and Favre knew it, so he tried crazy shit and it failed most of the time. But it also added to his legacy as "that kid who's just havin' fun out there," so you've got to take them both in stride. He's not top 5 in terms of good quarterback play. He's #1 in terms of entertainment value, though.

It's Brady. There's no room for theoreticals in QB rankings.
