the english league is so strong its impossible to look GOAT in it because everyone is goat. you cant stand out among other world class players. best place to become goat is a shit league with 1 or 2 good teams so you can score 5 every game against them. a shark looks scarier when hes in a pool of fish
>>65216252 Brazilian league is shit, won't deny that. But 39yo Romário is far superior to any Vardy. He was the top scorer in 2005, when Tevez was playing for Corinthians and got cucked out of the artillery.
So much Ronaldinho h8 in this thread it's sad 2bh. Prime Ronaldinho was the easly top 5 football players ever. Dude was fast, 99/10 technique, fun to watch, inovative tricks, didn't dive, everybody liked him, good finishing, goat passing etc. I don't care if he didn't play sureal 10+ years on this level like Messi for example, he still won fucking everything and those few years he was dominating, nobody was even close to him. Fuck you all, go enjoy penaldo's tap ins
>>65216559 >Both did exceptional in England >Both now doing exceptional in Spain, after leaving for record transfer fees. Not much of an insult, tbf. You could argue that Ronaldo was better in England because he wasn't as ego driven as he is now.
>>65217176 Except the Bundesliga was never part of a "top 4". It's always been the "top 3" England, Spain and Italy. Bundesliga is the fourth one, but outside of the big 3. Nobody ever considered it to be at the same level as the other 3 who change rankings between them every decade or so.
Are you underage? There's nothing historical about those leagues being at the top, this is a post-Bosman thing.
Eredivisie was top 5 in the late 80s-early 90s and they have been declining ever since. Same for the Brasileirão, but at least we stopped at 6th.
Germany had a good period in the 70s when they were internationally relevant and that's about it until Bosman. Who ever heard of the german league in the 60s or 80s? fucking nobody.
The English league was great in the 60s-80s until Liverpool got them all banned from continental competitions, and the 90s was a complete drought in talent with one club hogging most great players and titles, barely any foreign players and hoofball fucking everywhere, until the big money came knocking in the 00s.
Portugal was mostly irrelevant from Eusébio until Bosman when they realized they can just buy brazilians and south americans, win some titles with them then resell at increased values.
France was mostly irrelevant, ever, except for that one CL Marseille won by bribing their league so their games wouldn't interfere with CL fixtures.
Nothing "historical" about the current top 4, fucking casual.
>>65217113 look at chelsea this season. same thing could never happen to barca, real. they are guaranteed easy victories most weeks against teams from towns with 25 000 people in them. it's a bullshit league compared to england, where any team can get beat any week. they have to work week in week out.
teams in the bottom half of the premier league would challenge for europe in la liga. teams from the bottom half of la liga would get about 15 points in a premier league season
>>65217294 chelsea sucks and leicester are great. the german league is pretty even too, apart from bayern it's better than the premier league. but la liga is a second tier league with first tier teams.
>>65217482 as if i couldn't find clips of top half spanish teams doing the exact same thing. proves nothing.
just look at the cash. premier league teams are swimming in it, they could easily outspend teams from any other league overall. and yeah money doesnt automatically equal success but the league has a huge amount more than la liga, and it's distributed more evenly, so the discrepancy between 15th place in england and 15th place in spain is enormous. that's not me saying england is great, it's just undeniable. germany > england > spain
>>65217520 >>65217248 A brief review of the performance of english teams in continental competitions this season:
Southampton loses agg 1-2 to FC Midtjylland Tottenham ties 1-1 with Monaco, loses 1-2 against Anderlecht Liverpool loses agg 1-1 (pens 4-5) to Besiktas, ties 1-1 with Sion at home, 1-1 with Bordeaux, 1-1 with Rubin Kazan at home with 1 extra man ManUnited loses 1-2, ties 0-0 with PSV after buying their best player, loses 2-3 to Wolfsburg ManCity loses 1-2, 0-1 to a depleted Juventus Arsenal loses 1-2 to Dinamo Zagreb, loses 2-3 to Olympiacos, loses 1-5 to Bayern Munchen Chelsea loses 1-2 to Porto, ties 0-0 with Dynamo Kiev West Ham wins agg 1-1 (pens 5-3) against Birkirkara, a team from MALTA; loses agg 3-4 against FC Astra Giurgiu
>>65217701 part of the reason for this is that the league is so much more important in england. celtic are going to do better in europe than somebody like southampton because their domestic fixtures are less demanding. and to teams like spurs, the europa league is just a waste of time.
i agree that real and barca are better than any english team. but i'm not talking about which league has the best team, i'm talking about which league of 20 teams is better.
>>65218130 agree. but even then, because of the redistribution of money between teams in england, it was still a lot more even than spain. where barca and real take huge amounts. the spanish league to me is like scotland where you have two dominating teams and then a load of shit with half empty stadiums. just because celtic are decent doesn't make scotland a decent league.
>>65219015 With all that parity what sounds like a waste of time is finishing between 5th and 16th isn't it? They are literally going to earn the same, so why bother? More over, sounds like a bigger waste of time just appearing to play, as they aren't really going to win the league, so why even try?
Truth is, the only way to measure mid table teams is the Europa League, and EPL teams always get BTFO there, if you think professional football players are going to willing lose a game it just confirms that you've never touched a foot ball in your life, I want to win even pub games, I can't imagine how I would do if I got paid for it and got full cities behind me eager to celebrate a title. It's not that they don't care, it's that they are not good enough, that's the cold hard reality.
The rest is just your opinion, i'm sure that the bottom teams of la liga would absolutely destroy the bottom teams of the epl, but as there is not way to prove this, it'll always remain like this, just an opinion.
look at these, if you're telling me that there is any comparison between the mid-table english and mid-table spanish clubs, you're saying that english clubs are all run in a fucking awful way, because they would have to be pissing away huge amounts of money.
again, money doesnt automatically give you a good team, but on average the teams with more money are going to come out on top. and finishing 17th in england gets you more money than finishing 4th in spain.
>>65220453 >implying retarded arabs, russians, and baseball owners properly price the value of these clubs >implying that the value of a club is at all related to the skill of said players and how they perform at a european level >implying that because of then English economy, there isn't more money to be made in the EPL than there is in La Liga, which is hosted by a country with economic issues >implying you know anything about business, football, or have a greater mental capacity than a potato
don't even why I'm replying tbqh. straight rustled
>>65219972 >Eusebio >not a huge meme, made by the portuguese governament at the time in order to stop the war between portugal and angola The best portuguese player ever was Fernando Peyroteo, he was the best player of all time.
>>65223030 Why does no one ever mention Americans when talking about "ruining the game". Americans spend a bunch of money in England, but aren't ever mentioned because it somehow doesn't sound as bad to say "American oil money team" as if you replace that with "Arab" or "Russian".
>>65215829 GOAT contenders normally follow the same trend
>Play for one of the "good" (good being clubs with money to spend) 2 clubs from a meme league >Believe your own hype >Get a move to the EPL >Do nothing at all >Look for an excuse to move to a new meme league >Suddenly GOAT contender again
How difficult do you think it is playing against FC Tractor every week when your club spends £300m every season? You could put literally any player in one of the "big" continental clubs and they could look world class. Over here when a "big" club plays a shit club people look forward to a "giant killing" and it's generally in the FA Cup. When a "big" club plays a shit club in the Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A or Ligue Un it's just a regular week of Bayern, Barcelona/Real Madrid, Juventus and P$G playing glorified exhibition matches in the league. Continental leagues are about as strong as the SPL. In fact if Celtic were richer, there would be no real difference between them and Bayern, aside from the fact even Celtic are retarded enough to think that their league is anything other than a one team race.
>>65219015 with all respect to the scottish league, unless the best players the game have ever seen have spend the peak of their careers there it's not the same, nope
that's like me saying the english league to me is like the romanian league, a bunch of 20 shit teams fighting over to see who is fit to be labled as mediocre, just because a shady russian with thousands of corpses under his belt in his oil wars and a woman beater/slaver arab have bough a pair of romanian clubs it doesn't make the romanian league decent
>>65234806 no one gives a fuck about the europa league not england not spain not italy not germany not netherlands not portugal literally no one cares if people actually cared about the europa league how come Barcelona and Milan have NEVER won it? Why is the most successful champion is literally irrelevant in Spain's footballing history?
>>65217248 >The reigning champions suck and a shitty team is at the top of the table while all the other big clubs who spent a shit ton of money on meme players struggle to beat mediocre teams. Eplel is most competetive league in the world.
>>65234897 >not england not spain not italy not germany not netherlands not portugal my home team had 14k away fans on a EL group match, you'll find people care quite a lot if people actually cared about the europa league >how come Barcelona and Milan have NEVER won it? ffs, do me a favour and do your shittier trolling in the first line of your post so i wont bother replying
>>65235016 then call it uefa cup like in the actual name you fucking faggot barcelona were poo tier before 1990 internationally and milan have nearly always played in the CL or its predecessors there you've your answer and your (You) now fuck off
>>65235129 the uefa cup had more prestige than the europa league and even then people didn't care about it yet you expect me to believe people take a competition seriously that comprises the mid table fodder of every league?
