let's hope for some goonery
>miller tripped and eriksson got a stick to the face
>Krug barel high sticks in front of the net when the puck isnt even there
they're infecting me with some of that salt too
>that whole crisis situatio with the broken stick with the PK unit still on
>every break went Ottawa's way
>then spoons almost dekes to the net
sens killing bruins in possession.
julien consistently giving hayes f/os even with kemp out there. think long term they're trying to move jimmy to center. probably thinking jimmy as 4th line center in 2 or so years.
does see the ice well at all. does think the game at a high speed at all. doesn't handle the puck well at all. scores a bunch of garbage goals as a result of playing with skilled players. isn't that bright of a player. 0 first step acceleration so he gets beat a lot coming back after turnovers, and he turns it over a lot. there's a reason claude gives every line he's on a bunch of offensive zone starts
*doesn't. sorry, i'm a retard. i would also add that he can't shoot the puck to save his life. his whole game is based on leverage but he just isn't very strong for a guy his size, so he has to utilize his reach a lot. he's the type of guy that is going to be obsolete in this league very soon. if he didn't have a meme hat trick rn he'd be sitting at 6 goals. 3 of those 6 literally went in off of his skates (one off of his leg).
I agree with you on everything, but I think the reason I like him and you don't is because we think of his utility differently.
I see him more as an in-the-crease to corner bruiser that meshes things around to create chances for the people he's pared on a line with (Vatrano, Beleskey, Connolly earlier in the season -- all people that can shoot well)
I literally never expect him to score, and he mostly does off deflections and rebound put-aways in the crease.
I think you are expecting more offensive production out of him than you should. That's why the Panthers hated him, because they expect him to be an offensive weapon given his size.
Gotta know how to use your pieces, and I think he's done well this year because Claude recognizes that.
>Chiapet's last move with us
Fitting that it was a horrible terrible useless decision.
Although, I wish Claude would stop trying to make him work. Just push him back to the 3-4th lines at this point, don't ever fucking try to pair him with Bergon and Eriksson like he did 2 weeks ago.
i don't think he's an entirely useless player, it's just that when you give him top six minutes, which he consistently gets although technically i guess slotted in on the de facto "3rd" line, he is overmatched. his usefulness is exactly what you said: he needs to sit in front of the net on the powerplay. apart from that, he's not a particularly skilled or high tempo player, and is consistently overmatched against the fast and physically strong players in this league. he's a guy you throw on your 4th line and put in front of the net. he just doesn't do anything offensively well enough to be a guy that is in the top 9 of a good team. he does not cycle the puck well for a guy of his size, and he is not very strong for a guy of his size. again, as i said, not only that, but he does not think the game at a high level either, so it's not as if he can compensate for his lack of pure skill with savvy. he's a very mediocre forward that has good reach and leverage as a result of his body who can occasionally toss a garbage rebound into the net. the thing is, there are a ton of more useful players who are capable of doing that if you tell them that that is what they need to be doing.
i don't like the player, but i think if used correctly he can be ok. but he will absolutely never be in the top 9 of a team that does very much damage in the playoffs.
Ya true, but given the state of >roster depth on this team, Claude's got a play the cards he's dealt.
I mean for fuck's sake, we're playing Talbot still. That's another player that sucks.
connolly's problem, to me, is time and space and his ability to release the puck quickly. in contrast with a guy like vatrano, who conveniently is right there for us to watch, he is effectively the opposite in terms of shot mechanics. connolly needs a lot of time and space to get his shot off with any kind of velocity and accuracy; vatrano doesn't even need to be looking at the net and he gets it on net somewhere around the shoulders of the goaltender and with a ton of power. connolly has a very poor release but a very hard and accurate shot. the reason he scored a ton in junior hockey is because he played against 3rd pairing dmen there where he had infinity time to pick his spot and get off a rocket. at the nhl level, he does not, and he hasn't changed much apart from getting heavier and stronger since he was 18.
>letting the snes of all teams outshoot you
jesus fucking christ almost as embarrassing as having melnyk as your owner
Well, ok, but idrc
>the amount of times this fucking season where there has been a pass back to the blue line while in the opponent's zone and our defense, namely CHARA, couldn't handle the puck or just let it go by them
to fucking stop
Good not great, probably will make the playoffs, but wont do much damage
Theyre better than last year because they have a lot more effort put in this year, makes it fun to watch them again
>get your doors blown open by chara
>can't do shit because youre a bitch
>vatrano is in front of the net with the puck loose, so you shove him into it and move the net to halt play
>shove him a couple of times from behind after the fact
Somebody knock this little bitch's head off.
that was a tripping penalty but yeah unintentional. again, i like bobby and i hope he's alright, he is one of the most good boys in all of hockey tbqh
there have been a lot of weird non calls in this game
GOD DAMN IT
Had the chances and we blew it
which is why he should win the Hart this year
this entire team hinges on him
to be fair he did stay on longer when he should have come off in OT. Had a prime opportunity to go off too
Just got home from the game. Great game, great atmosphere. That's the kind of fucking game I wanted to see. Scoring fests are boring, and there was even minimal refpuck (that bullshit with closing the hand on the puck though). Nice to see all those disappointed Broonsfags leaving the building. Better luck next time.
