one step at a time bro. you're a little old to be starting off so you'll need to specialize to be of any use.
are you short? practice dribbling and passing all the time. that's all you'll be good for but you will be useful.
are you tall? practice rebounding and very close shots from above your head.
on defense just get in people's face and wave your arms.
don't bother with jump shots/shooting.

Have you played any other sports? Sometimes those skills transfer. I'm shit with a basketball in my hands, but I played defense in football and soccer my whole life so I get a pass as the guy who plays solid D.

1. Watch the NBA on TV to see what it's supposed to look like when you're the best
2. While you're doing this, practice shooting baskets and dtibbling aroylund by yourself
3. Play one on one with someone
4. Play in pick up games

Keep doing all the steps, don't stop any of them

You will be an asset to a pickup team if you could just set screens and hit open layups
