FUCK! AMERICA PLEASE LETS STOP WITH THE CULTURAL ACQUISITION AND PLEASE USE SC(Soccer Club) AS IS NATURAL. WE CALL THE SPORT SOCCER FFS! EURO IMITATION WON'T MAKE THE MLS ANYMORE GLAMOROUS
>a new wrinkle to the season-ending #DecisionDay: All 10 finales will kick off at the same time
How will /mls/ handle this? Is this an official warning to buy 10 display screens before winter hits this year?
>“I'm not a big fan of Bill Hamid,” Wynalda said Wednesday during his daily show on XM Satellite Radio. “Everybody says that this guy is great. I don’t get it, I’ve never seen so many shots [go] between the [legs]."
>"He looks athletic at times and I think to the untrained eye you say wow this guy is good, this guy is great,” Wynalda continued. “[He’s] so out of position ninety percent of the time, I don’t know what to make of it. As a forward I would love to play against this guy.”
Will Hamid ever be able to recover from this or is his career over now?
I can only find one article on it, so it's probably not true
But it's hilarious
>The Los Angeles Galaxy are on a roll. The MLS club is on the verge of closing the deal for Aston Villa defender Lescott. There is also strong interest from the Galaxy for AC Milan's Nigel De Jong.
>On a roll
FROM LA TO TORONTO, WE LET THE METAL GO OFF
well, I mean, AV have practically already gotten themselves relegated, so why not sell off some old players so they can reload with cheaper/younger guys
but why in the fug would LAG want him
>so it's probably not true
Every transfer window there are always some stupid rumors involving MLS teams. You'll learn most are false, but the shitposters won't care.
But in regards to MLS, every player over 30 is linked to coming over according to these "trusted" sources. It's already been like 3 years since Ivica Olic and Diego Forlan are rumored to joining some MLS team.
In a recent interview to a Spanish newspaper, Forlan was practically advertising himself to get an opportunity in MLS. He must be disappointed no MLS team wants him.
That's my point, a lot of these rumors are just agents trying to generate interest, not because MLS teams actually are looking to sign these players.
Why can't the LS clubs stop desperately try to take euro football culture and use their own sports culture? Teams like Seattle Sounders, LA Galaxy etc. This team should be LA Chicanos or something.
Seattle Sounders: comes from the NASL 1.0, which was unashamedly American
LA Galaxy: comes from MLS 1996, when Nike was given total creative control by a bunch of NFL executives to invent sports team names for the '90s, which was of course as American as it gets
LAFC: comes during the MLS 3.0 era, during which U.S. soccer is suffering from an extreme inferiority complex and crisis in conscience; it doesn't know what it wants to be and so it chooses a safe, global branding
ok Mehmet, that's taking it a bit far
>Another friend of mine, a kid from school, his older brother in the Navy said how guys in the Middle East jack off different than we do here. This brother was stationed in some camel country where the public market sells what could be fancy letter openers. Each fancy tool is just a thin rod of polished brass or silver, maybe as long as your hand, with a big tip at one end, either a big metal ball or the kind of fancy carved handle you'd see on a sword. This Navy brother says how Arab guys get their dick hard and then insert this metal rod inside the whole length of their boner. They jack off with the rod inside, and it makes getting off so much better. More intense.
hit or miss, he's also known for straight out plagiarizing articles
So according to Ives, LA is going to sign both Cole and De Jong with TAM?
>He does his homework for the most part.
Maybe, but I'm talking about how LA is going to sign every linked European player with TAM, according to Ives. The guy is a hack.
Who /blootah/ here?
>tfw i am totally fine with pretty much any other transaction this off season now that i have qt Dawkins to watch next year
That being said please don't drop Lenny
Union: Possibly getting Restrepo from NY Cosmos, sending a loanee that way
Kinkead thinks there's more outgoing loan(s) and possibly a south american player brought in
SJ can restructure the contract of the 3 remaining DPs (and the rumor is that Wondo's contract is going to be bought down). Do you really think Gerrard, Gio or Keane are going to restructure their contracts just for LA to sign both De Jong and Cole?
Yeah he already got BTFO, but he wants to keep it going.
>his club has paid over 1 million on a transfer fee
GET OUT REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
fuck I was looking at the 2015 roster
>It's the current year people
well I'm glad he got the call-up
trades, LAFC crest unvailed today, USMNT Camp, front office moves, >soonposting.
From some things I heard, Bingham is going to Camp Cupcake as well.
Also in other news, Quakes just resigned Quincy and Jordan Stewart. Just cooked up some OC because of it
I'm jumping ship from the Galaxy to LAFC
Finally there will be a real soccer team in Los Angeles.I'm tired of that abomination that is the Galaxy.
>mfw the team's official name is LA Galaxy
>You aren't going to jump ship and root for LAFC with the dirty chicanos, are you anon?
I have reason to believe that the Miami Becks will be more popular than the Miami Heat
There's too many Latin people in South Florida for it to fail. Sign the right player and it will be a full stadium every home game.
Look at what kaka did for the Citrus Bowl
ARENA GOING FULL RETARD THIS YEAR SOUND THE ALARMS
You sound like an idiot. They speak Spanish , they're from the Caribbean Central America or South America and there's a sea of international kit when it's World Cup time. It will work, just sign the right Latin players
Everyone focuses on that first part, but the key is what he follows it with. He knows that if a U.S. team signs him, they won't win anything anymore. You've been warned, LAGs.
it's easy ewe guise
anyone can dew it
even you Real SLCFC Portiva Madrid
Revs are in a shitty place. If Kraft sells, he tells the team to gtfo and now the Revs have no immediate stadium plans.
Being the old ass NFL family with connections that they are, if the fans revolt, the Krafts can make the Revs suffer for it
>weird nickname nobody understands
Partick Thistle to MLS when?
What's your point? You can sell games, TV and merchandise to people throughout the entire state!
On top of that , the stadium is in the middle of all major public transportation. Rail , bus and express. Fans from New York can easily make the trip here. Here's a vid of the last soccer game at the rent
Oh yeah? Not many metros have fucking this inside of the county. Who's out of luck now????
>Every now and then Jay Heaps wakes up and texts Robert Kraft “Why don’t you love me like you love Tom Brady?”
>Robert Kraft, getting up from his mattress made of macaroni noodles cooked in the tears of Patriots fans after their recent Super Bowl failure takes a long look at his phone before texting back: “Who is this, and why do you have my number?”
>Jay Heaps punches the wall in frustration. Through the tears caused by his frustration, he furiously texts back: “It’s Jay! Jay Heaps! You own the New England Revolution! A soccer team! You know, Taylor Twellman, the best player to ever play for this team? That New England Revolution!” and he slams his phone down on the IKEA brand coffee table he bought with his meagerly 50k salary. He gets up and slams his head against the wall, sobbing.
>After a few minutes, his phone vibrates. Jay looks at it with a deathly glare, questioning whether or not he should pick it up. After a minute of deliberating it with himself, he picks up the phone and reads the following message: “I have a soccer team?”
>He screams in frustration, throwing his phone against the wall, waking the neighbors in the surrounding apartments. “I FUCKING HATE YOU, ROBERT KRAFT! I FUCKING HATE YOU” he yells as he succumbs to the impending emotional breakdown, punching his couch through his tears.
Fuck Liga MX , have you seen how awesome our new stadiums look?
>mfw attendance to Sounders games starts to drop as MLS becomes too mainstream for Seattle and they just move them to Sacramento
>Bitchy the Hawk
Based Bitchy is the greatest mascot in MLES.
I'm hoping that Correa guy comes over and they get Vincent in the draft, Earnie/the team is being really quiet about their moves
The Desert Diamond Cup starts on Febuary 17th. I'm not sure why they're having friendlys before February 7th though , that's super bowl week...
Gil is probably still in preseason mode. Most likely he will get playing time in Copa MX before making appearances with the first team. It's not like Queretaro has a lot of depth in their squad.
He's probably making more money in Liga MX. I could see some players giving the MLS a three year break and going to other leagues until the next CBA agreement. Wages and Free Agency needs to be fixed
These two veterans will be competing against each other tonight(tuxos-xolos). I really hope arena knows what he's doing.
Yeah, no reason to have a guy who is not match fit in your 18. He played most preseason games with Queretaro and even scored a goal, so it's not like Vucetich has completely ignored him.
Yeah, but none of us really understand why Arena is changing so many players and his back up plan to all these changes. Most LA fans don't like all these transfer rumors and speculations. We just have to wait to see how things work out.
One of the new changes to the Laws of the Game:
If a player goes off to change boots, instead of having to wait until play has stopped and after inspection from the referee, the fourth official or assistant ref can inspect the boots (or whatever else) and the player can come back in during play.
>tfw if this rule was in place 3 years ago San Jose would have made the 2013 playoffs
So much overreaction over a few players leaving. Where's the article complaining that Americans are leaving to the Scandinavian leagues, which have more Americans that Liga MX.
They're supposed to be impartial, but I guess there's still the need to show how the league and the sport is growing in the country.
Except I dont make a big deal over a few players leaving. Most MLS fans share this opinion >>64763827 and make it seem its the end of the world.
Soccer isn't even a sport, at least not originally. It was an activity. There was an article about it's origins by the top "football" writer in England awhile back (can't remember his name, Mohammed something). Anyways, it started strictly as a way to shed pent-up homosexual urges. Back then of course, homosexuality was taboo, and European men at the time (and now of course) all had strong homosexual desires, but couldn't even consider masturbation to quell these thoughts, as, due to societal pressures at the time, even thinking about men (this was natural to them) brought about all kinds of shame. Thus, soccer was born. I wish I could find the article, this fine Englishman does a much better job of explaining it.
For freelancers and bloggers, thats true. The guys I mentioned work for important media outlets and still manage to put their fanaticism aside to cover the sport.
Tannenwald is good. I admit he's not impartial and he's autistic as fuck, but anything relating to the Philadelphia Union and MLS TV rights, he's by far the best source. Kinkead is also, good, not afraid to speak his mind and criticize the Union front office.
Why should non-DP players be able to get higher wages in fucking Mexico than in a 1st class country like the United States?
The MLS needs to be the highest paying league in all of north, central and South America. That's how you'll get the best talent.
Players leaving is normal, happens in the top European leagues and no one is making a big deal about it. Gil and Gonzalez had mediocre seasons and now that they left, everyone is reacting as if the two best players in MLS history just left to Liga MX. Eliminating the salary cap wont solve anything because most Liga MX teams can still outspend MLS teams and have the ability to offer money to players.
"Select games will also be broadcast internationally to more than 140 nations and territories through the League’s global broadcast partners which include Sky Sports in the UK, pan-European broadcaster Eurosport, Globosat in Brazil, Abu Dhabi Media in the Middle East and North Africa, Letv Sports in mainland China, beIN SPORTS across Southeast Asia and Australia, FOX Sports Latin America, FOX Sports Africa, and ESPN across their international platforms in Latin America, the Caribbean and Oceania."
That's a lot of countries. They have money to spend on players. LigaMX doesn't get that kind of TV money so wtf
I bet Liga MX's tv rights revenue in the US alone is greater than all those countries put together. And Liga MX gets much better ratings than the EPL in the US, let alone MLS.
Just for Chivas games, Univision pays $80M, just $10M less than the whole MLS TV contract.
They're all paying pocket change. If it were a lot of money MLS will making press releases about it. The league would'nt hesitate to let everyone know about the additional revenue they're receiving. And most of those channels just acquire MLS games a filler programming. I'm pretty sure Bein Sports pays practically nothing just to have Swiss Super League and Russian Premier League games on their network as filler when nothing else is on.
Well I don't like the fact that LigaMX, a major competetor is stealing non-DP players away when it should be the other way around. It just shows that the MLS needs to work on the cap and free agency.
The players union should be all over this
People in Kansas City and Portland would rather not compete internationally so they have a chance to win trophies.
I mean I'd be okay with it being Sounders-Galaxy-Red Bull-XXXX Every year, but most small markets want to just have an American league
>“Most of the time, American basketball is only taught in twos: 1-2, pick and roll, or give and go, or something like that,” Bryant explained. “In playing soccer growing up, you really see the game in a combination of threes, sometimes fours—and how you play within triangles.”
>Bryant also gave the example of being aware of the “backside” and reference switching the ball to the opposite side of the field to drive home the point that soccer provided him an advantage by increasing his awareness of his surroundings.
>“You see things in multiple combinations,” Bryant continued. “And growing up playing (soccer), my eye and my brain became accustomed to seeing those combinations in threes and fours versus one and two.”
>tfw you don't live in the timeline where Kobe picked soccer over basketball and joined MLS in its inaugural 1996 season instead of the NBA, ending up as the GOAT MLS player, Black Ibra
Any chances of Guatemalan players coming to either of the new clubs or being drafted at the super draft?
It may our worst era of football in history but we do have some players that would be good additions to any MLS team tbqh familia
>Brandol De Leon
>Juan Jose Chang
I wouldn't mind MLS becoming a feeder league for the BPL only if they get to SELL players to them. MLS clubs can become very wealthy doing that and Americans will see competition they need to see
Based pescado is old as fuck now, his time has passed.
There won't be a replacement for him in a long time, but Cuilapita Mejia could be the new fish, He plays with more balls than anyone on our NT except based Cincotta, is pretty fast, involved himself in pretty much every goal we ever scored in 2015, and is a qt mayan manlet
It comes from the fact that he looks like some form of grouper
Are there really people jumping ship to LAFC?
>Sarvas leaves o-ok
>Ishizaki goes home o-ok
>Penedo leaves mid season w-w-why
>Gonzales sold and Meyer dropped t-the fuck are you doing Bruce?
>Juninho sold w-w-hy
>Cole, Non-GOAT Magee,
jfmsu tbqh. Won't jump ship though.
>>original Columbus Crew
They aren't able to keep enough teams in order to stay alive and even become a proper division 2. so, fold.
>VA Cavalry FC
>Minnesota United FC
>San Antonio Scorpions
>do I need to list any more?
They need to keep sabre-rattling about Division 1 to keep the Cosmos, Railhawks, and a couple other teams happy. Once Cosmos get their stadium (and especially if NYCFC don't) they might be able to force a deal to move to MLS while retaining ownership of their brand, after which NASL can settle down and concentrate on filling out a D2 role.
Jordan Morris is the best college player in the country. Gets awarded
England has about seventy bazillion highly organized divisions, even if they're mostly semi-pro at best beyond the top half-dozen
The US pyramid literally stops counting after three and says to all the amateur leagues "eh, whatever, you're all fourth level or something, I dunno"
do yourself a favor and save this, then
SJWs reign supreme around here.
he's not really a defender naturally, I doubt he's ever really played RB, but he could probably make the transition or move up the pitch, gay boy is good quality in MLS though so he should be able to fit into like 2-3 positions
>vfw bruce is as cunning as he is assumed to be
>yfw ashley cole gets hammered into a shitty contract because of comments and lack of play time
>yfw bruce motivates him and the other older has beens to work their asses off
>mfw the galaxy wins the treble
I'm hesitant, but in Bruce I trust.
It could work. But the way a lot of Mls teams are following suit. I can see the older players especially defense getting out paced. I hope there's a good plan in the works. But I'm very skeptical to be honest.
It's over, pal. Time to jump ship to the GOAT Art Deco City of Angels FC
Galaxy is ahead of there time. With good management they will be fine. Anyways Carson closer to me. Plus exposition park area is a nightmare son. Imagine the traffic. I don't take the metro so there's that.
No they won't buddy. Have you ever been to a Galaxy game. Lots of people from the OC Attend there games, families. lafc will always be the clippers of LA. The only thing the got going for them is a new stadium. The Galaxy FO isn't dumb. They are the best or one of the best operated team in the league. So keep on dreaming.
not if nycfc has anything to say about it
MLS can't handle the idea of 3 "United"s in the league and is reportedly asking Minnesota to change their name:
>yfw minnesota united officially joined the league 104 days before plastic atlanta """united""" """fc""" announced their name
I seriously hope that fans go in an uproar about it.
The fact that they aren't making Atlanta drop the United or even the idea that having 3 teams with the term "United" in their name be something of concern to MLS is just plain ridiculous.
It's actually kind of charming that there's a team for hispanic hipsters and the qt chicas now, we'll see what it's like when they kick off though
>Soon: United name probably staying because this guy is rich as fuck edition
samefag here, It's too late to come up with a good name everyone loves and now its too late to change the shit one we have. Such is life in sports here, there are no wins. Here's some #TBT >Soon for ya.
>Soon: day 1, before they fucked the name up edition
>President is an Austrian artist
>Just sent their polish guy to Germany
>Claims to be the team "of the working man"
>Originally came into power because of major failure and financial insecurity
>Attacking style is blitzing down the flanks
Trendy new team, wont last long
You wish. The Galaxy will always be the class of MLS
The Gals have made more moves in one offseason than your shitty flyover city
Fucking Dropped if true
I take it you never been to a Galaxy game before. Those people at that unveiling look like they never even played the sport. i can imagine lafc games with a bunch of hipsters. Your typical fight and win, look at me i need attention posers.
because they are going to drop the superdome when their deal is up in 3 years. MB is based in Atlanta now anyway.
>Bedoya horror tackles his Swedish national team doctor gf when they play soccer together
How are any of these "Americanized" names fundamentally different from yuro names like
>Queens Park Rangers
Especially considering that there are baseball teams in the US named Rangers and Athletics...
>a few exceptions to the rule negates the rule
Plus, you don't call any of those teams by their >nickname except the Wanderers, and even then you'll hear them called Bolton the majority of the time. The rest are called Blackburn or Rovers, QPR or Queens Park Rangers, and Charlton, not the Athletics. The differences are sometimes subtle but almost always distinct, proving the rule.
In every sport in the U.S. before MLS 2.0, just about every team is [city/state/region name] [nickname] and can be referred to as [city/state/region name] or the [nickname]. For the vast majority of soccer teams around the world, that isn't the case, objectively.
Most of those weren't professional teams or became a pro team only after naming itself as an amateur team.
Pro U.S. sports team naming conventions are here to stay because it's all about the brand and familiarity for the TV audience. U.S. soccer is in the middle of a massive identity crisis so that's why they're the outlier, along with not having any tradition of significant TV $$$ to aim for.
>became a pro team only after naming itself as an amateur team
Like how soccer is literally everywhere else in the world?
Why should American soccer teams hold themselves to naming conventions arising from a time period when America was a soccer desert?
The U.S. has always been a soccer desert, including when we were named like the teams from the countries whose emigrants formed our own teams.
Unless you're going to bring up the meme 3rd place finish in the first World Cup ever, in which case read about those early World Cups and the World Cups didn't become legitimate until a few decades ago; that was just a diplomatic gesture.
Orlando already tried to start it at a pre-season game with NYCFC last year.
What would you do if you won the lottery /mls/?
>tfw I'd bring back beitashour and gordon and fly a plane around the stadium every game with a banner telling doyle to fuck off
I don't care if being across the street from an international airport would make the banner thing difficult i'd still do it
>Orlando already tried to start it at a pre-season game with NYCFC last year.
Buy some of AUFC, I'm not going to pretend I know how to run a front office or anything but I want stake in the team.
