What does /sp/ think of JJ Watt? Already the greatest defensive player of all time? soon to be? overrated? Let's hear
Maybe I'm biased since I'm a Texans fan, but to me, JJ Watt is HOF-worthy NOW, definitely the greatest d-lineman of all time, and firmly in the conversation for best defensive player of all time.
PED user. Don't know how he's tricking the tests or whether he quit but I went to Wisconsin with him and he definitely roided then, and he's only gotten bigger so he's gotta still be on something.
He will slip up eventually.
>definitely the greatest d-lineman of all time
Nigga, you serious?
if watt continues his current level of production for like 5 more years, he's a first ballot guy easy
if he were to die tomorrow, it'd be borderline
He's an incredible player. He's involved in almost every play, whether it's creating pressure, getting sacks, swatting balls, or stopping the run. He can even run meme plays on offense. The fact that he's pretty much double teamed every play makes it that much more impressive. I really hope he stays healthy, if he does I don't see why he can't be considered the greatest defensive player of all time. He's currently on pace to destroy the all time sack record of 200 (He's already at 74.5) and is someone teams game plan for every week. Plus he's white, what's not to like?
I think JJ Watt is just a better breed of human being. A person with pedegree just like Cam Newton. We all should be thankfull to God to let us see them play in our lifetime.
I'd already put him in the top 10 DEs of all time (grouping him with other outside pass rushers since he never plays inside the 5 tech and fits more with them than most 3-4 DEs). I'd definitely put White, Jones, Smith, and Marchetti above him - might be a couple others.
Just came in to say this. Also Bob Lilly.
Stop acting like you're more "knowledgeable" football fans for bringing up players from an older era. You probably never even watched these players play and if you did get off 4chan you fucking oldfags. Watt would beat the living fuck out of these faggots. Today's athletes are bigger, faster, and stronger than any of the bums White and Taylor played against and Watt still dominates them. Taylor and White would not be dominate in today's league or be able to hold Watt's jockstrap.
This. You really think someone like this slow doofy goony fuck that >>64729942 posted would be able to last in today's league? They would see his measurable in the combine and laugh at him. Athletes are constantly evolving and finding ways to get better and better. Fact is players from 20 years ago would not be able to dominate in today's league, and I'm sure in 20 years form now someone else will come along that is bigger, faster, stronger, and badder than Watt.
I want whatever drug you're on, 'cause JJ Fucking Watt is the furthest thing from a locker-room cancer you can be.
The burden of proof is on you, faggot.
Unfortunately he plays for the Houston Texans, so everything he does doesn't matter.
Get traded to a relevant division and then we'll talk.
See also Detroit Lions, San Diego Chargers
he's a great player amazing what he did his 1st 20 sack season playing 3-4 DE and getting all those sacks,
but his whole "I work on football all the time I'm more hard working than anyone else" shtick is annoying as fuck
I'm pretty sure he's gay, nothing wrong with it but something is suspect about him saying he's too busy working out and on his game to have a relationship
You faggots forgot Bruce Smith, the 80's version of J.J.
I'm a Texans fan, and at this point in his career, he is still only Bo Jackson. if he were to suffer a career ending injury right now, he had a GREAT 5 years, but it's only 5 years
if he keeps this up, even if he drops off to only getting 10-15 sacks per year instead of 15-20, he will be regarded as the greatest of all time
I'm getting pretty tired of seeing Reggie White always posted in a Packers jersey
he had 5 mediocre years in Green Bay, but like 10 in Philly
it would be like posting Brett Favre in a Vikings jersey, or in 5 years, posting Warner or Peyton in their current jerseys (Cards and Broncos respectively)
The scary thing is, I think Watt could be an even better if they used him on the interior. He is fast enough to be used as an edge rusher, which of course bolsters his sack count, but if they could get a tandem of Mercilus and Clowney as the edge rushers, while moving Watt more to the inside, he could be even more disruptive, and would be better positioned to use his incredible playmaking ability. How many NFL guards could deal with Watt's speed? Another talent at DE could also help, as Crick is a non-factor.
They don't run a system using the speed of defensive linemen. Once Clowney stop sucking ass then he basically acts as a defensive end. Do some research on 3-4 defenses. The 3-4 is a beautiful thing.
Watt is such a cancer that players are pretending to be hurt so they don't have to play with the retard. I bet he enforced the letterman jacket rule too LMAO
All the other before mentioned players led their team to a super bowl
Watt is good. 74.5 sacks and 370 tackles through five seasons is pretty unheard of. He gets a bad rep for not being a hardass and looking like a tryhard but I think he is just a juiced up midwestern autist.
>tfw even fatass EDP gets christmas presents but you don't
If Lawrence Taylor were built like Jadeveon Clowney is, he probably would've decapitated at least one person.
Plus the fact that LT was a fucking maniac who you couldn't get off the field even if his limbs were falling off.
Agreed. Greatest ever must also include longevity of career unless the player in question is so much better that it bears additional consideration. For example, if there is a defensive lineman who gets 30+ sacks two seasons in a row against double and triple teams all while destroying the other team's run game.
Reggie White averaged more than one sack per game before he went to the Packers and he was also outstanding against the run. He was very clearly the very best defensive lineman in the USFL and NFL for over one decade before going to Green Bay.
Watt is doing great and he is on pace to be considered one of the greatest defensive linemen ever. But he has not played long enough and for the years he has played, they were not incredible enough for him to be considered the greatest DL ever right now.
deion sanders was pretty elite
i dont get why he's never in the best defensive player conversation
Anybody with skills in the AFC south would be considered goat
There is a reason he signed an extension , play in the worst managed division , get hype , get advertisement money , live life .
We all know he is overrated
Ansah plays in one of the toughest divisions on the league
Mack plays in possibly the toughest division in the AFC
I mean come on guys , watt is overrated in the whole spectrum of things
