Can somebody please explain to me the appeal of this shit? I don't wanna go ask the fuckkng aspies on /v/. Just came from a friends house and basically:
>spend 100s of dollars on cards, packs
>game obsolete in a year
>no expansion, no nothing
>buy the next season game and do it all over again
Y the fuck would any full grown adult do this?
I think part of the problem is that this game is marketed toward sports fans, not so much video gamers.
Have you ever played it? It's shit. It has waaaaaay too much useless stuff in there and it's all over the fucking place. It feels like it was created by someone spewing out a product to make profit, not to actually make a good game. NBA2K is the same shit. It has bugs in it that have been in for years that they've never fixed.
I have a friend who doesnt play video games at ever. He has a PS4 and only buys Madden once a year, and NBA2K once a year. That's his entertainment budget. He's the target audience for this game. Not people who actually give a shit.
Draft Champions is fun, they added h2h against friends in an update. That was the most unlaziest thing EA has ever done for Madden. They also added another mode into it where you play a 6 game season. The rest of the game modes are shit though. It wasn't even cut content this is shit they generally worked on and patched into the game.
Improve Draft Champions even more in 17 and i'll be sold. Maybe they actually are starting to care.
I just play NCAA 2014. It has its flaws but I can't be bothered to buy a new game every year.
Some autist updates the roster names, skills, teams and conferences every season so it's always current.
>still has glitches even though its been out for a while now
>tackle physics/ when they try to get up will make you laugh
>MUT takes so long to develop a decent team (I thought i was playing it wrong)
>limited to 1v1 online (cant play together on same team
Given all this i still play this game like mad.
I've avoided new Maddens for the past 4 years until this year. Finally picked up a new one with Madden 16.
I'm not sure how I'll feel once the next game begins, and my current team is worthless, but I've done quite well for myself without buying a single pack.
91 overall team, elite players at each potition, including elite backups... with only 1 farm account to go back through the Journey II with, and for a 2nd crack at the coin up.
From what I've learned, it was a lot easier this year to grind for a good team. It's been addicting to build my team, hunting the Auction House.
I've been tempted to buy some packs, but I've refrained.
Madden is the worst sports game EA makes.
Without competition from other football games EA can just put out the same buggy slow shit year after year and faggots keep buying it.
Objectively is a poorly made game.
I have this weird feeling that most people who spend money on madden also use fanduel
The majority of people are always going to gravitate towards what's new. It's the same with FIFA. You're paying to keep up with the online community for multiplayer. If you're not playing online head to head it's pointless to buy every new version though.
there are people that spend 50$ every time a pack comes out.
I'd say they probably come out on average every 3 days.
There are people that spend that much on the mobile version.
They don't care at all.those things require minimal work and are just a new way to make more content so people feel the need to spend more money.
91 overall doesn't include a single top promo/legend.
If you spend 60$ on a console game you should be able to reach the top only with grind, not with hundreds of dollars each month.
Speaking of sports games, what is the board's opinion on Football Manager?
Why is OP butthurt about how some people spend their money?
Anyway, draft champions is pretty fun. Most frustrating aspect about this game is I just started MUT. Nice to build up, but hate it when im like third lowest division, of course i face guys with Jerry Rice, Brady, Gronk, Watt and Emmett Smith. I get that you might've packed a few players, but ffs I'm in my third season and my best player is Stafford who i saved up for forever.
This. Playing against friends and family members is great.
People really spend actual currency on "make my team better"? I can see earning in-game currency (via: winning SBs in Franchise Mode, having the most profitable franchise, breaking records on the most difficult settings, normal everyday playing, etc.) and spending it on cards. I'm not spending $ on that shit. I enjoy getting a shitty starting team and trying to win with them.
The most fun to me is starting a franchise and do a fantasy draft using only rookies as your team. That shit is fun and difficult.
Has its own general here.
Honestly the game is an autism simulator. I picked it up know absolutely nothing about soccer, and ended up loving it.
I'm a huge fucking autist that roleplays in his mind though.
yup, it's all rng. though there are some formations that nearly break the rng with the right players. nobody would care about the game if it wasn't for regens and the endless pursuit of min/maxing their development
Pretty much this. It is the most addictive game on the planet if you're into drafting and developing players in Madden franchises. Def give Football Manager a try, pretty steep learning curve though.
So are there in forms in this like in FIFA? I was given this game early last year and never even played it, could I start madden 15 now and acquire special in forms or whatever they have in Madden?
BTW I have not spend a single dollar on packs or anything and this is one of my squads on FIFA, hate when fags assume I bought coins or packs
I can win with just 4 plays, this game got old quick.
Not even saying im good, just too easy. Im probably annoying as fuck to play with against, but it works.
Ronaldo, Lacazatte, Thiago Silva, Dani Alves and Rakitic are all pack pulled from those nontradable packs they awarded in those tournaments, the rest I purchased from not wasting my coins on buying packs, my packs luck is shit whenever I buy a pack for some odd reason
I've had the new Madden for much of the time it's been out, never played MUT once. Idk it just doesn't seem that great, I'd rather just play with my favorite team against friends or online versus other people.
For all the bullshit innovation that they keep pouring into the game, somehow the mechanics and on-field play looks worse. Players running all look very stilted to me.
>let's remove feature X and reintroduce it four years from now so that we can brag about it
thing needs to stop
They have made it Connected Careers, so that you have the option to have a created player be in your head coach franchise. But the game play and week to week development is atrocious. They don't touch franchise mode past release because UT makes so much money
I haven't got a madden game in years but I got this cheap on Black Friday and really like it. Reminds me of old school madden because you control every aspect of your team; you can play as player, coach or owner. It also lets you move your team if you want, choose the location (which there are lots of), choose the name, colors, stadium, etc. first season I moved to London
Geez, EA at it again. Same goes for FIFA. I hoped it would have been different with madden since the user base if fairly less large but it seems like it's the same crap anyway.
Konami did a great job at producing an actually enjoyable my player mode in the past. I wonder how it goes nowadays.
Against an actual person
>basically abandon the run unless you're winning
>Get lucky on Defense
Against the typical kid
>personally blanket the best receiver while using CPU to keep run in check
>Run offense knowing 6+ are coming every snap
Why don't they make Madden for PC anymore
I'd literally pay 100€ to be able to play Madden, I love handegg and I want to play a handegg game and play it online and buy players etc
If Madden Ultimate Team is bad because it's a cash grab, look at Fifa Ultimate Team, and bask in the glorious Euro shekels that EA reels in from 12 year olds and youtubers (and if it's not EA it's one of those coin farming sites).
because then people would just mod in new rosters like they do for madden 08 and no one would buy their $60 roster update every year. They'd actually have to innovate to get people to buy a new madden
It's the best one in years, but Madden 2006 is infinitely superior and that is embarrassing.
I have played 06 10 years (with a bit of madden 10 with the Wii) and I do not regret it. Have madden 16 and I do enjoy it, but I can not believe they haven't had a better one than the 06 version.
Even in its current state, it's still the best football vidya game out there.
Does this justify spending $60 on it once a year? No
Does this justify spending extra money on Bullshit card games? No
But there is still a lot to enjoy in the core experience imo. But mostly only play Franchise mode, online, and local when people are over.
When I play I usually shorten the quarters, put quick presentation mode on, mute the TV and throw on some music. That's how I have fun playing madden
Not until someone decodes to reboot Blitz 2000
>not turning your favorite franchise around with a meticulous 8 year plan
>not jumping ship to a division rival right after the climax of your dynasty
>wanting to play online
>wanting to deal with slant, drag, fade cheese every play
I worry about some people. Who wants to play "lob it up and hold triangle on 4th and 18"?
>mfw no more NCAA football games
>can't just play Fight Song every snap and score a TD
I've been using those 4 plays plus curl flats, slants, and that one play out of shotgun that has double posts with the TE running an out for the last decade and I have lost like 7 games total. I quit madden 2 years ago because of this.
I'm confused by the scouting in franchise mode. There are some attributes that cost 500 pts to reveal but even after playing multiple seasons, I can only seem to amass just under 400 pts, even after purchasing the scouting option.
tl;dr: How the fuck do you go about scouting talent for the draft in this game?
It was fun as shit man.
Created a great QB with a great arm and decent accuracy. You do the motion with a movement, so I made the throwing motion sometimes for fun.
The QB and 2 WRs vs a few defenders minigame was also fun as shit
If you have a good enough phone and no PSP, you can get one of the PSP Madden on emulator. Game play is all PS2 level stuff and still holds up pretty well, even better, if you just want franchise mode.
this guy gets it.
I only buy a sports game maybe once every 5 years. The league doesn't really change that much season to season and you can make all the roster moves/player updates yourself. But in about 5 years you'll have to get a new copy so the youth recruiting is properly updated and not just random named, No face guy #99
That's the old Madden where scouting is stupid and broken. In 16, you learn their potential instead of stats and it is much cheaper. You are punished for not using your points. So instead of learning everything about one guy and having no back up, you can learn a lot of things about a lot of people. I just wish you could go more in depth as the draft got closer but not a huge complaint. It is much better in 16 than 15 or 25 where you had enough points for one person.
It's fucking terrible, man.
>Character touted as the biggest NBA prospect since LeBron
>Is a 55 starting rank because 2K expects you to either log man hours in this game or spend $50 on 450,000 VC to even attempt to boost your character's rating to half decent levels. If you really play full 48 minute games and on the difficulty necessary to actually raise near 100,000 VC in game, you'll just be ready for 2K17.
So on top of the $60 I paid for the game, I have to pay another $50 just to make my character half decent at a rate. I fucking hate this game. 2K can be as big of a Jew as they want because they control the basketball game market.
And the fucked up thing is, the game isn't even worth the initial $60 because of how lazy it is. CPU can be a dick and the only time it's actually fair to play is against another human. Whatever player you control can not make a pass inside without your teammate being in the post completely alone or it's a guaranteed turnover every time, you can miss shots on perfect release, you easily get stuck in animations on both sides of the floor, it's a mess.
The game really is a 6/10. Pretty as fuck, but shallow and the internet still fucking sucks.
I like the prospect of more than 1v1 but it would be so fucking hard to get 5 people coordinated unless playing with friends
Not to mention it is impossible to play corners or safties, one mistake and it is basically a touchdown
Didn't bother with FIFA this year. Basically annual releases are cancer as a year isn't long enough to properly upgrade a game. Every year they expect you to fork out full price for what is essentially a roster update, with a slightly shinier paint job and a couple of gimmick additions that may or may not slightly improve the gameplay.
So much not only does it make them not give as much of a shit in regards to year-to-year improvements in other game modes, but helps pay for development in franchises outside EA Sports.
When you have retards pay $100+ every single week for a CHANCE at new cards and special/holiday events, they roll in the cash.
Line play feels entirely different, DB/WR interactions are the best in any football game ever, and they fined tuned playing D to make it even better than last year. Low key it's a good game now.
I think it's fine, not amazing though. However I just got a PS4 last week and my last Madden was 14 for Xbox 360.
The A.I seems really rubberband, they make huge comebacks.
NBA2K's career mode is a joke, a cliche story, if you don't buy a bunch of currency you average about 4 pts per game as a 62 overall player but the story treats you like the second coming of Jordan lighting the league on fire.
And your childhood friend is annoying as shit, I'm expecting him to get shot by the local hood.
>load game file
>spend 500 points on "development" attribute
>quit without saving
>reload game file
>spend points on a cheap attribute to "bookmark" players with Star development
>spend game hours during the season to get XP for said players
rinse and repeat. hell, even if you don't do that All-Pro is so easy you can steamroll everyone even if you do fuck up your picks
I buy it every 2 years, after the first few months or so I get bored and only whip it out to play with friends and shit, I'll spend max 20 dollars on it, easy to make coins, although the autistic that spend Over 5 k a month on it.
>that guy that has a 99overall team
>spends all his money on *rare cards*
>every player he has is 95+ & does all the work for him
i get if you're rich Autis you could throw 50$ on a card but where is the fun in it when your team is 99overall?
Basically in 16 you spend 5 points to find out their best attribute, then 10 to find their 2nd best, then 15 to find their 3rd best. They give you letter grades (IE B+ Impact Blocking, B Pass Block, B Toughness) and then after you do that it gives you a general idea of "when" they should be drafted. SO it they're projected to be a 3rd rounder but have 2nd round talent you should take them.
I have madden 16 and play it every day. I have no idea what mut is or have i ever cared. I play online with my brother i dont understand why there needs to be 100 modes. Just make the gameplay actually decent. I wish ea didnt have the exclusive license. Some competition might actually motivate them to fix some stuff.
This desu. Finally it feels like you can penetrate a play without doing a jailbreak or getting stood straight up and waiting for a running back to trip over you.
Actually contact down the field and the catch system are the icing on the cake. Most fun Madden of the 2010's
CPU vs human has been broken since Madden 25. Literally nothing short of sliders or lowering the difficulty will prevent them from completing 75%+ of passes. Doesn't matter what route you user, CPU will find a way.
here you go, gentlemen
this fucking cuckold is the reason they keep spitting out hot garbage. they know you fucking morons will eat up the incremental changes and vomit money at them.
Haven't bought a football game since NCAA 14, you're a fool if you can't see the huge difference between that and this. I don't even own anything besides a 360, I got to play it over Christmas and was quite frankly impressed.
only since 25? every madden i played on ps2 was crap, you could either put em on easy and go 19-0 every season or hard and go 3-13. how about an intermediate level that's fun? too much too ask for i guess
I bought NCAA football 2012 for 2.99 at Gamestop and have played the shit out of it this winter.
Can't say I agree with OP.
Just make the quarters shorter and turn up the difficulty. Because the difficulty level applies to all the drones, not just theirs. So higher difficulty equals more fun play in general.
I think OPs main gripe is the ultimate team and the fact you have sperglords spending 100s of dollars every week to upgrade their team and it all turns to dog shit by the time the next madden comes out. I don't think he has a problem with franchise play or anything else.
lol gotta love that attitude
>hurr durr I suck and dont want to spend money so the game is stupid
Its not that hard to beat a 99 ovr team with an 85 ovr if you know what youre doing and H2H isnt even necessary to enjoy the game
The past 3 years ive enjoyed ultimate team without spending any money
Doing the solo challenges and investing in predictable prices rises like the shefters stars every week and you will have millions in no time
People lose in game money because they do sets and buy packs which are almost always a waste
Every christmas I sell my coins through the madden subreddit, I made $600 this year and didnt even sell my starters
sure I spent a lot of time playing but video games are an inherent waste of time and id say 600 bucks and hours of fun was worth the $60 purchase
Also name a console game you consistently played after a year of owning it? Any RPG is boring after you beat it and shooter/fighting games are only fun with friends
>don't you dare make fun of me for wasting my life on pixels
Idk what they did with this last update on NBA 2k but when your on defense and the team does a pick and roll everyone just rotates even if I stop that shit.
>stop pick and roll
>Pf slides to the paint
>leaves guy wide open, especially if a stretch 4
>someone slides to him
great rebuttal. Enjoy the most boring sports in existence
>extreme slow motion replays of the coaches reaction
>100 pts a game, shooting at a stationairy hoop that never gets blocked
>guy almost hits a home run then jogs across the bases even though he makes ten million dollars a year
>no one ever sprints
Yeah, USA, you guys have the most exciting sports on the planet.
born and raised in Edmonton, faggot. I just have taste in sports, unlike you. What's it like enjoying the most boring things in existence?
Me and four of my bros are loving connected franchise. Scouting/drafting is much improved, the game mechanics are awesome, graphics and realism (especially if you DL that updated likeness package) are off the charts.
They introduced an XP slider a few months ago in franchise mode, but you can't use it in a franchise you've already started, shit's weak.
9/10 game to be frank.
>being this ignorant and retarded.
I'm a city boy, fucker. Never seen a trailer.
never seen a redneck besides a native.
How stupid are you?
I have players that were the top when they came out early on. Now there are new players that are better, not by a whole lot more mind you.
I could still grind and grind for the best RB, WR and QB that will be released, but I probably won't.
The only way to get those 3 are to grind, or pay an obscene amount (for the QB and WR. RB isn't available yet)
