Why was this years NCAA Football bowl ratings so shit?
It was MLS soccer tier.
>amateur "sports"
Same teams for 20 years in top 10
BORING
maybe the fact that the best teams weren't playing on Saturday
playing on New Year's Eve instead of New Year's day simple as that
>EPSN dies
pls happen
8-team playoff. Not only enhances the existing system, but basically makes two separate bowl seasons. Imagine how great it would be if CFB had its own version of the NIT like basketball does and we just had two separate bowl seasons happening simultaneously, with only one playoff truly mattering. Because with an 8-team playoff, it makes all other bowls garbage essentially, so why not do another playoff?
it was Clemson, seriously what the fuck was that
hurr durr pass it
that was the most garbage game I've ever seen
Clemson, Oklahoma, and Michigan St all bring SHIT ratings.

>Hour long college talk on espn

This
also, everyone was out and trying to socialize for NYE, football was second priority
having the games tonight and tomorrow night would have been optimal
Because they decided to air it on NYE, when everyone is out, instead of NY Day when everyone is at home.
Plus they were competing with like 4 New Years Eve celebrations
Plus, throughout the broadcast, they kept reminding you to change the fucking channel to fucking ABC to watch Dick Clark's New Years Special
Basically, ESPN is fucking stupid.
>>64607108
Wasn't ESPN's fault
they wanted to move it
>>64607059
This.
Fucking 4/6 NY6 bowls were blowouts (not counting Ohio State never trailing Notre Dame) to top it all off.
>>64607121
But that doesn't excuse them constantly telling you to change the channel to ABC to watch Dick Clark's special.
>>64607127
It was hurting both sides
This is all the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl's fault
>Bama in it again
>everybody stops watching and kill themselves
The appeal of college football is that you can always find a good game somehwere.
If the only games on are shit, it doesnt matter if its a playoff.
no bama vs tosu rematch
the sugar bowl last year is still the best playoff game to date.
Last year you had:
Alabama v. Ohio State
Saban v. Meyer
SEC v. B1G
This, along with the storyline of OSU being on their third string QB but blowing out Wisconsin
Then you had undefeated FSU looking to repeat as national champs. Led by Jameis Winston who was the king of controversy for one reason or another, yet kept winning.
playing against
Media darling and Heisman winner Marcus Mariota leading the Oregon Ducks (kings of the up-tempo meme offense) to what would have been their first national title.
Two really great matchups that brought a lot of weight to the games.
This year you had a Oklahoma team that lost to Texas and was overrated anyway vs. undefeated Clemson who nobody really gives a shit about.
And you also had Alabama vs. MSU, which could have been a good matchup, ecept MSU won their best games off of fluke last minute plays, they weren't a dominanat team and couldn't contend with Saban's Bama.
Sorry for the essay but basically the matchups this year were shit compared to last year.
Blowouts are boring

>Muh Rose Bowl
>Muh Traditions
who wants to watch consolation games after the main event has already happened?
