As much as I like the imageboard experience, a forum would be pretty nice, especially if we get a proper one with real features, with no dumb mods, and if we keep it somewhat private, we should be okay.

The only thing I don't like is GIF's automatically loading.It fucks pages load times, wastes a heap of host and client data, and bogs down the servers (as does auto refresh on by default).
outbraking someone else is braking later than the other guy and not run wide, usually overtaking the other guy.
outbraking yourself is braking too late and running wide and lose time because of it
If you are side by side down a straight against someone and break later then them you will have outbroke them and in theory got to the corner earlier and made the overtake.
If you break too late so that you can't make the apex of the corner you will outbreak yourself and have gone too deep into the corner and will lose time.

- how do I assign a certain amount of points for a specific result? i.e 30 points for first, 25 for 2nd.
- what sort of points system should I use? Before I used 22 minus result, but Rosberg ended up beating Hamilton that way.

This is a shit method but it works
In the table in the links I posted in >>55419258 if you click on the points column you will see a massive set of vlookup formulas which reference the table on the far right which is points for each position.
Basically the vlookup formula will lookup the finishing position in the first race for that driver in the reference table and return the corresponding points value. It will then do the same for the next race and so on while adding them all up. That leaves with the total points for that driver.
This allows you to change the point system quickly and easily.
I'll make a diagram if my shit explanation doesn't help.

How do we get the sport to be more driver focused?
When a driver who isn't even in the top 3 skill wise can win 4 titles in a row, there's something not quite right with that. Someone was quoted as saying the car is 90% and the driver is 10%. What can we change about the formula to put more focus on the driver? Should they?

All you have to do is make the same (position/points) table like I did on the right and copy that formula into the correct cell.
You should just be able to drag it down for the rest of the drivers and it should work.
If you want to change the point system just change the values in the righthand column of that table on the right and it will change automatically.
I have it set to 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 this gives Hamilton a total of 153.
It keeps the cell reference fixed.
If we have the very simple formula "=A1" in cell B1 it will change as follows when copied and pasted:
Pasted to B2, it becomes "=A2"
Pasted to B3, it becomes "=A3"
Pasted to C2, it becomes "=B2"

At the risk of troll-feeding, weight is everything in motorsport. Less weight improves everything, almost - acceleration, handling, outright speed, corner speed, and definitely braking.
The all up minimum weight decreed by the FIA - and that's basically the only tech reg going back to the '30s - includes the driver, so when they added the new power system for 2014, which was heavier than the V8s, the cars got heavier. The minimum allowable weight did not.Teams strive to put the cars on the grid at the very limit of the minimum weight so they saved everywhere they could - which in this instance was mostly the driver.
Look at driver pictures from 2013 to 2014 and see how gaunt some of them were/are - good examples are Sutil, Hulkenberg and Jensen.
There is a minimum weight limit for safety reasons which includes driver and car.
The problem is that the new cars have heavier engines and without any ballast are at that weight limit. This means taller drivers are at a disadvantage so they are starving themselves and not taking fluids before the races, Many drivers raced without a water bottle in the car.
Jean Eric Vergne collapsed before a race because of it.
