Was Calculus created or discovered?
>>7852923
I discovered calculus. The gypsy magic showed me it. So you could say gypsy magic discovered it first, but gypsy magic doesn't tense, like my mind does.
>>7852923
Most of Newton's calculus was dogshit. The average high school senior deals with more rigor. Of course, plebs will automatically think "troll!!" upon reading this
>>7852923
The mathematics was discovered, but the formal notation was invented.
>>7852970
Rigor didn't exist until the 19th century.
>>7852923
It literally just depends on how precisely you define the words "created" and "discovered". Once you do this, all "is mathematics created or discovered" discussions become silly.
>>7852923
created
maybe try to think for a second next time before creating a shitty thread
>>7853036
This is the first good post that this namefag has made this year. It is also literally correct on both points, the short answer to OP's thing being "discovered".
>>7852970
>Of course, plebs will automatically think "troll!!" upon reading this
I was actually thinking "retard"
>>7855034
No it's not correct, because there is no correct answers stop, samefagging
>>7855063
You're wrong, the above post is correct, I'm correct for agreeing with its content, and I've pointed this out despite normally hating that particular namefag, not the samefag, saged, reported, called the cops, a warrant has been issued, there will be a knock on your door in ten minutes, cooperate, don't resist.

>lel I was only pretending to be retarded
>masture troll
Reminder that Newton was a hack

Coming from a white t-shirt wearing slob who doesn't even know how to scramble an egg.

>what is Euler's Elements
Am I being baited right now?
>>7852923
*discovered.
If it was created, we wouldn't have no clue what happened before newton discovered it. (Calculus is life, calculus is everything.)

Topkek
>>7852970
Learning something and coming up with the idea in the first place are two completely different things.
>>7852923
all math is created
English is not an exact language though so poetically you could use 'discovered' if you wanted to.
if newton didn't do the shit he did, would leibniz have derived modern calculus, rigor included?
if neither of them published their work, would calculus be where it is today?
Since this is a calculus thread, how exciting is stochastic calculus? I'm getting hype to get into it next semester.
>>7855995
The discovered it independently so yes Liebniz would have still published. Also Leibniz's notation is more like what we use now, Newton created fluctuations which the British stubbornly clung to for years after his death even though it was a stupid system.
>>7852923
You make that after listening to Neil Degrasse Tyson talk about Newton? Totally epic bro.
>>7855986
No, you couldn't. Not honestly, anyway. Also just so we're clear, you're mistaken.
>>7856332
Im afraid i dont understand what your post means
Math is created only poetic faggots think otherwise
>>7852923
Definitions are created, properties are discovered.

dwarf on giant's shoulder indeed
