How many years until the personal robot is a thing and can be seen in offices and work places?
When will middle class families be able to buy and own one like with the car?

[spoiler]I just want to fuck a robot
>>
You won't see humanoid robots in your lifetime. You will die a virgin so your children won't see them either :^)
>>
>>7841209
Middle class families have been using robots for a few years now. One popular brand i Roomba.

You will lose interest real quick. You always want the toys that you down own. The fun with real grillz is the challenge of trying to achieve them and getting rewarded. You will lose motivation very easily with sexbots.

On the other hand, you will buy more sexbots to build a harem so you fuck something different everyday, which will make the sexbot companies earn millions and it will be a peaceful way for population control. If they make them affordable to the middle class ofcourse.

Yeah no. The challenge is a major reason why I straight up lost interest in women. All that time money and effort jut to put your dick in a hole, its like being on a hamster wheel. Since anti-depressants nuked my sex drive I realized what a fucking waste of time it all is. Back in the day all you needed was a stable job now you need all kinds of alpha bullshit just to get a fatass. Fucknl it, call me a loser all you want I wish my sex drive never returns.

There are two schools of thought in this matter.

1: if dildos could change car tires women would no longer need men.

2: if sexbots were made, men would no longer wait on women.

Either way, there is a big future in artificial insemination.

If gay marriage was a big deal do you think that robot love is gonna go down without controversy. Both the religious right and the feminist are going to oppose this nerd

Religious already think sex is bad, right wingers don't give a shit and who cares what the feminists say, they have zero power once you take their keyboard away from them.

My biggest worry is the psychological shock of this trend. The uncanny valley of the realism makes me feel incredibly disturbed to think about fucking something that I know is a robot that's meant to fake a human being. I know that humans don't look so pretty either if you trip them off their flesh but fucking fake-humans feels so inhuman.
>>

Once own sex robot waifus become artificially intelligent. I don't think we'll really care if its fake or not.

>>7843813
That wouldn't work. Rich people don't care about sexbots coz they can already get bitchez, and middleclass / poor people can't afford sexbots if they are sold at the iron price. Especially if we're talking about heavily AI'd bots and not just silicon dolls.
>>
>no sexbot that becomes sentient and yandere

What if you found out that your best friend or girlfriend or mom or dad was a robot all along. That you can see humanoid robots aren't all that bad.

It might be a good movie idea to manipulate the masses into sympathizing with robots to get people used to seeing bots in their daily lives so the human-robot transition goes easier on everyone.

I'll call JJ abrams.

humanoid robots are dumb

we can create any shape, why would we choose one that has plenty of limitations and weaknesses?

beyond that, the calculations to perform movement in a bipedal unit are extremely costly. these robots aren't going to be hunting and traveling across plains.
>>
>>7844052
>we can create any shape, why would we choose one that has plenty of limitations and weaknesses?

Because 99% of our infrastructure revolves around tools and tasks only a humanoid robot would be capable of doing. you think that they need to hike, but in reality being able to handle a screwdriver or chef knife, for two different command inputs, all with the same limb, makes them infinitely more useful than a "cooking" robot and a "screwing" robot on wheels that has to be wired, and costs so much money that nobody would use it because it's single purpose no matter how you reprogram it.

why do people fail to understand this? having it as

You have to be retarded to like a challenge in getting sex, any sane male would rather rape than try to game a woman into sex.

We will get sexbots when the demand for them comes in, with this feminism crap it should be only 2 decades before it happens.

I would argue that a good portion of the things we want a robot to do can be done with a wheeled platform with two arms.

A wheeled platform with two arms can handle a screw driver or a chef's knife. Fuck a single robot arm with a good hand could do that. Why do you have to have legs to handle a screw driver or a knife?

roomba's are already a thing. I see one in my office everyday.

Oh you meant like humanoid robot that does chores and shit? Well guess the fuck what anon? Robots can't do shit in unstructured environments. They suck at manipulation and perception and will do so for the foreseeable future.

Shit we take for granted like reaching into a cluttered cabinet to get something is really fucking hard. You put your hand in there and stuff is gonna move, now you gotta plan a path knowing that stuff is gonna move. The way we do this right now is just test a fuckload of possibilities simulating stuff moving around and the arm moving till you find one that works.

This takes a fucking long time and it only works if you can model how shit is gonna move. And of course figuring out how shit is gonna move can be really hard.

Not to mention for this 'simple' task of reaching into a cluttered cabinet, you need 'common sense.' For example, if there is a one of a kind fragile glass statue, then you probably don't wanna slide it around reaching for stuff. How the fuck do you get a robot to recognize a fragile glass statue and the billions of other 'special cases'?

The point is, to get robots to do tasks we find easy, we're gonna need a new approach to AI. This might take 5 years, it might take 50.
>>
>>7845107
This is silly just make the robot ask if theres anything look out for. You are bad at simplifying problems.
>>
>>7845135
How does the robot know when to ask? How does the robot know what you specified to look out for?

"Don't hit the fragile glass statue," is pretty useless to a robot. A robot cannot figure out that something is a glass statue by looking at it.

Second, if said robot asks you all the goddamn time if there is anything to look out for, it's goddamn annoying.
>>
>>7845175
Thats why we have this thin called

Wait for it

Machine

Learning
>>
>>7845175
Also how do you know something is glass? You either inquire or look at its refraction and assume. Do you throwna fitnwhen this happens? No. Neither should a robot.
>>
>>7845180
So how will this magical machine learning fix this problem? How the fuck do you train a robot to know when to ask you?

How do you train a robot to recognize a one of a kind glass statue or handle thousands of other special cases? Do you let it break thousands of glass statues and penalize it for doing so?

>>7845183
>> look at its refraction and assume
Robots aren't very great at this.

The uncomfortable problem is do we allow robots to look like 11 year old children?
>>
Why does everyone assume that sexbots will be mechanical instead of biological?
>>
>>7847943
>allow
doesn't matter. If it's possible then it WILL happen. This applies to everything, by the way
>>
>>7847943
>The uncomfortable problem is do we allow robots to look like 11 year old children?

That would be uncomfortable, since she's too old
>>
>>7847943
>The uncomfortable problem is do we allow robots to look like 11 year old children?
Depends on whether that would reduce the urges of the owner or encourage him.
>>
>>7847988
Same reason everyone assumes AI will run on a mechanical platform. That's the only way we know how. For now... Who knows maybe we find out true AI is impossible on a non-biological platform, we can always engineering brains to do our bidding. They are by far the most efficient computers that we know of.
