Let's have a cognitive science thread!
Can the brain be trained like a muscle?
For example, is it possible to come up with a workout that maximizes IQ gains?
Perhaps something like
5x5 sets of math problems
5x5 sets of physics problems
3x10 sets of programming challenges
Could this work? How many IQ points could someone gain in a month?
Also in muscle fitness we know cardio kills your gains. Is there an analogous phenomenon for the brain? Do unintellectual activities kill your IQ gains?
LSD is probably a better avenue to take. IQ is just logical intelligence, like puzzle solving, so do puzzles all day if you want to get more effecient at them, but its not making you more creative or smarter in anyway me thinks.
would you consider mushrooms in the same category as lsd?
They're both classified as psychedelics so yes.
It is not difficult at all to acquire these things through the web. Give it a shot if it's something you feel interested in. What do you have to lose? It's pretty much one of the safest substances to take as long as you mind the dose and are mentally stable enough to handle the trip.
I think the best way to exercise the brain for a bigger IQ is develop more patience.
More patience to learn things, and more importantly, try and figure out the IQ puzzles in an IQ test.
Each IQ test I've ever did, I kept getting bored and just skipping the less obvious questions with a "best guess" because I got impatient trying to sit there trying to figure it out, with 20 minutes time leftover at the end of the quiz that I could have used.
LSD and psilocybin mushrooms are both psychedelic tryptamines (which means they are potent agonists at serotonin 2A receptors), so they have a similar trip but also have distinct differences. I always preferred mushrooms, they feel a little more natural and "earthy" to me and a good amount of length. Acid's fun but it lasts a little too long for my taste, I always end up just wishing the trip would end so I can sleep
I believe you'd be fine with mushrooms but you should definitely check about LSD. There are plenty of people who have posted reports about being on SSRIs and taking various psychedelics.
Just don't take any MDMA/ecstasty unless you wanna literally die.
Definitely do your resesarch, erowid is a fantastic source. I personally wouldn't be combining any serotonergic drugs with SSRI's. Also tripping is not something you want to do if you're depressed
Is there any particular reasoning behind not tripping while depressed? Also I'm curious as to what you would consider a trip in terms of dosage.
Yes, there's plenty of solid reasoning behind not tripping while depressed, because tripping extensively potentiates your general thoughts/emotions, meaning that if they are largely negative you will only feel that negativity magnified to a significant degree. Some people have taken psychedelics while depressed and it has helped enlighten them of their predicament and come out refreshed and better off, while others have plunged further into a bottomless chasm of suicidal despair. So it's a dangerous gamble. Just read some trip reports on erowid of bad trips and see what I'm talking about
Sorry, forgot to answer about the dosage. LSD dosage is difficult to discern because it's in the range of micrograms and one "hit" can vary widely so until you try a particular batch you really don't know how strong a given hit will be, but I'd recommend a half hit or full hit your first time. A good first time mushrooms dose is 2-2.5 grams. Some people like to go balls in the first time and do 2 hits of acid and a full eighth of shrooms, but I prefer to err on the side of caution
how retarded can you get
you are right some combinations of drugs with ssri's give you serotonin syndrome (dxm) but mdma is not one of those
how you can have your head so far up your ass and still think you are speaking truth is beyond me
oh btw i have the entirety of google results to back me up and personal experience
